ANA DE ARMAS EMBODIES LOVE IN “BLADE RUNNER 2049



A Cuban-born actress who has become one of Spain’s and America’s rising stars, Ana de Armas (War Dogs, Knock Knock) appears opposite Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford in Columbia Pictures' futuristic action-thriller Blade Runner 2049.

The highly awaited follow-up to Ridley Scott's 1980s original classic, Blade Runner 2049 is directed by Academy Award-nominee Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners, Sicario, Arrival).

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

The woman at K’s side is Joi, with whom he has more than a romantic relationship. She is his friend, his confidante and his only real support system. Ana de Armas, who plays the role, offers, “Joi is smart, funny and intuitive, especially where K is concerned. She is also undeniably sexy but she is much more than what you see on the surface. She is actually quite complex.”

De Armas enjoyed developing the role with Villeneuve, noting, “It was interesting to explore my character with him. Her existence in itself was a huge starting point for me, and I had so many questions in my head: Who is she? What is she feeling? What are the rules we have to follow to build on that from one scene to the next? Denis gave me so much freedom to discover all of those things and more as the movie progressed.”



“I know Ana has done movies before, but it is rare as a director to have the impression you are witnessing an actress becoming a star,” says Villeneuve. “She has all the qualities—the energy, the emotion, the power and the skills—to capture the very difficult character that is Joi.”

As the stunning developments in K’s investigation take him down an increasingly perilous path, Joi is the only one he knows he can trust completely, and she, in turn, gently guides and encourages him, giving him a perspective no one else could offer.



Opening in Philippine cinemas and IMAX on Friday, October 6, Blade Runner 2049 is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.

St. Peter Life Plan x Break out PH




Who doesn’t love escape rooms? For me it’s not only an exercise of your wits, but also a test of your composure and of course team work.

My first escape room experience was just a few months ago in Baguio with a group of 6. It was fun, exciting and an adrenaline rush, which had us solving a series of puzzles using clues, strategy, markings and physical strength.




Physical strength because there was an actual "actor" involved in the room. We ran away from him the first time he showed up with a big knife in the “first room.”

We were panicking and shrieking everytime we would figure out a puzzle and move on to the next room as the killer was chasing us. Who would have known that 7 people could fit inside a cabinet.




We managed to get out though and I learned that the key factor to getting out of the room is team work and to always stay focused whatever happens.

Last Sunday, we tried Breakout Philippines Boogeyman room. The Breakout PH crew gave us instructions before he let us all blindfolded to the room. He gave us 45 minutes to get out of the room. Unlike the one in Baguio, this one was way more difficult and we couldn’t even figure out the first puzzle. It took us more than 20 minutes to figure it out and it was just because we had some luck with the combination.

The second room proved to be even more difficult as it was even darker and we couldn’t even see the locks. But through teamwork and again luck, we found the key and found our way out!

Orange Blush Salon's Joby Linsangan shares "The 10 Commandments of the Orange Lady"

Joby Linsangan Moreno, the lady behind Orange Blush Salon recently held her first public engagement as a professional speaker billed  Elevate: Primed For Greatness at The Podium Special Events Center Cabanatuan City and organized by Lvrage.

She shared her thoughts about 10 Commandments  before a mixed crowd of students and professionals. 

Joby opened her first salon at age 23 in Nueva Ecija from the remnants of a beauty parlor about to close shop. It was a huge move for Joby who with her savings of 30,000 pesos chose to invest in the salon business. She was at that time working as a medical technologist. "When I went to college at 17, I did not know na ang med tech nasa lab pala," she recalls. "I did not know, nag aanalyze pala ng ihi, poop, dugo at iba pa. Eh ayaw ko pa naman ng kumukuha ng dugo," she explains.



Joby then realized that all she wanted was to be a business woman. "I was 23 when I established my salon in Nueva Ecija  and my goal was to make it a national brand."

But six months after her first beauty shop opened, "pinirata yung tatlong stylists ko," she reveals. To save the situation, she had to run to the adjacent beauty salon for help. "Pag may pumasok na kliyente sa amin, tatakbo ako sa kabilang parlor, sasabihin ko, paghatian natin, 50-50 tayo sa 60 pesos na gupit."  



Despite the difficulties, Joby survived. And 14 years later,  Orange Blush Salon put up 20 branches scattered in the different parts of Northern Luzon and Metro Manila. 10 branches are wholly owned while the other 10 are franchises. The flagship store is located in Sparks Place Cubao.

One Tree at a Time at Tagaytay Highlands



According to a Chinese proverb, “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” 

For over two decades, Tagaytay Highlands has evolved from a mere weekend escape to an unmatched investment through meaningful reconnections with the family – all while being surrounded by splendid nature views and a lush flora and fauna. On the morning of July 15, 2017, executives and employees of Tagaytay Highlands, Belle Corporation and Highlands Prime Inc., together with representatives from the Singaporean, Thai, Myanmar, and Lao PDR embassies, and ACB delegates, planted a total of 335 saplings for this year’s Annual Tree Planting Activity held at the Lagoon Park at Plantation Hills.

The event began with the renewal of Tagaytay Highlands’ partnership with the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity, its reliable and consistent ally in annual tree planting initiatives and in sustaining community efforts to ensure that biodiversity conservation measures are being implemented within the company’s operations. Tagaytay Highlands was recognized by the ACB as its “Friends in Biodiversity” when the partnership began in 2010.

Tagaytay Highlands Club General Manager Claire Kramer opened the program saying, “This One Tree at a Time project aims to give back love to our Mother Nature for providing us with great and wonderful resources. It is in small ways with great love that wonderful results come.”

Tagaytay Highlands Club President Jerry Tiu, Tagaytay Highlands Club General Manager Claire Kramer, and Senior Vice President for Operations for Highlands Prime, Inc. and Belle Corporation Real Estate Lennie Mendoza with delegates from the ASEAN Center for Biodiversity.


ACB Executive Director Roberto Oliva thanked Tagaytay Highlands for partnering with them and briefly discussed the Philippines’ rich biodiversity including the other ASEAN countries. Tagaytay Highlands Club President Jerry Tiu concluded the event with a few words saying, “We cannot compromise nature in our aim to deliver comfort and fun to members and guests. Together with nature, we make you all at home in this wonderful place.” He also reminded the participants that, “It is not the number of trees we plant, but the way we protect and love them that counts.

Fifteen years after Tagaytay Highlands founder Willy Ocier made a commitment of planting 1 million trees by 2050, more than half a million has been planted within the mountain resort complex. St. Peter Life Plan celebrates DeathCare Week from October 27 to November 2



Have you considered pre-planning your funeral?

It may sound a bit morbid and talking about death is never easy, but it’s the one fact of life we will all be facing eventually.

I want mine to be as happy as possible. I don't want people grieving or mourning. I want everyone to wear green, pink or blue instead of black or white. Maybe do an 80s new wave playlist,  play a remix of Madonna tunes, with a bit of The Script mixed in to keep the mood rocking.




I want to be remembered as a strong mother and friend for what I’ve done instead of what I missed out on. I want people to talk about what they know about me instead of what they heard or I may just give them the eyebrow from my light blue coffin.

I just had goosebumps after typing those things above and tell you what I want for my funeral, when I couldn’t even tell you about the things I still want to do in my life.

But the reality is that planning for our death is equally as important as planning that next trip you’ve been wanting to have.

I’ve never thought about it until last night at the first St. Peter Bloggers Night where we got to learn about their Death Care packages.
