Taiwan's Most Famous "Meet Fresh" is now here in Manila

Last year, when we were in Taiwan, we tried almost all of their delicacies.  From milktea to herbal teas to stinky tofu to big flat fried chicken, to misua and taro balls from Jiufen. No one can deny that Taiwan is a food lovers paradise. I remember buying that hot bowl of mochi and taro balls in Jiufen and never share it with my partner hahaha. It was that good. Its not that sweet, its soft and chewy, its like ginatan but with a twist. I told myself that I would be back for more.

Until I learned that Meet Fresh is now here in Manila.  I would bring my family to have a bowl of taro balls goodness. What I love the most is their mochi balls. Now I can have that anytime of the day, especially when I am craving.
Its yummy and freshly made, to ensure everyone that you are consuming healthy dessert.

Known for its tasty Taro Balls, refreshing herbal jelly, and tofu pudding among others, the products are always ‘Freshly made, cooked and served’ utilizing traditional Taiwanese methods to ensure that it brings the best and the healthiest desserts to its customers.

“Meet Fresh” was founded by a traditional agricultural farming family in the City of Taichung (central part of Taiwan). Its two masters, Mr. and Mrs. Fu (the eldest of the Fu family), were raised in an age where society in Taiwan was changing rapidly due to technology improvements and automation. But they still believed in making desserts the old-fashioned way to preserve the unforgettable natural sweetness of the traditional taste.

Meet Fresh was established to fulfill the Fu’s deepest desire to share their handmade, freshly prepared wholesome tastes with everyone. They were persistent as to how they made their desserts, with the principal value that each dessert has to be handmade with the freshest natural ingredients and with no added preservatives.

Among the must try items in the menu are the;
Signature Icy Grass Jelly with grass jelly (Php 220.00) ;
Icy Taro Ball #4 (Php 220.00),
Hot red bean(Php 180.00),
Q Mochi Milk shaved ice(Php 280); and the
Winter Melon Tea with Taro Balls (Php 130.00)a traditional beverage in Taiwan served with mini taro balls and whipped cream.

“In the last few years, Taiwan has become a favorite travel destination of Filipinos. And for those who love to go on a food trip, Meet Fresh is one of the places you have to include in your itinerary. That is why we decided to bring Meet Fresh to the Philippines so that everyone can discover and enjoy the taste of authentic Taiwanese desserts,” says Janzen De Jesus, Franchise Owner, Meet Fresh Philippines.

Meet Fresh has more than 700 locations worldwide throughout Asia Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States. Meet Fresh is located at Level 5, Podium Mall

7 things you can do with your family to enjoy the rainy season

Don’t miss out on the fun because Povidone-Iodine (BETADINE) has got your back!

It’s raining, it’s pouring, and #walangpasok is trending. While it may seem like a good time to lounge around, binge a movie or two, and bundle up with a piping hot cup of cocoa, it's also a perfect opportunity to enjoy fun activities with your family.

We’ve put together a list of activities that you and your family can do on lazy, rainy days!

1. Start on a Rainy Day Project
Whether it’s installing new bedroom wallpapers or creating DIY organizers with your kids, this activity will give you and your tiny tots a sense of pride and fulfilment once they complete the task.

2. Build an indoor campsite
What’s better than bundling up under a blanket? Well, building a teepee out of blankets and pillow, that’s what! Create lasting memories with the kiddos by playing with them under this makeshift tent, you can spend time doing board games or just reading bedtime stories to them!

3. Cook their favorite rainy-day dish
If you’re looking to pass the time, why not create something delicious in the process? Create more memories in your kitchen by letting your whole family help you cook their favorite rainy-day comfort food. Chop, chop!

4. Do Zumba together
Wondering what you can do to combat the chills brought by the rain? Well, consider sweating it out in a Zumba sesh with the kiddos.

5. Map out your home and do some treasure hunting
Bring out their inner Indiana Jones or Dora the Explorer with a little treasure hunt! Nothing could be more exciting than hiding things in your home, making clues, and seeing them decode it to find the treasures!

6. Organize their closets
Practice the KonMari method and start to declutter your home with the young ones, beginning with their closets! Teach them the importance of gratitude and letting their things go, especially when they are not using them anymore.

7. Let them go out and enjoy the rain!
Kids are so full of energy and when it’s pouring rain, it might be best to let them out to have fun. Don’t worry because you can still give them the protection they need by using upper respiratory care products that are proven safe and effective for use inside and outside our homes.

Carousell Ambassador Erwan Heusaff encouraged everyone to join the Reboxing movement

Food is one of the few things that bring people together. From bonding with loved ones over homemade dinner to meeting new people at restaurants, having someone to share the kitchen with involves shared experiences, shared knowledge, and shared memories as food constantly allows us to build connections with people, as well as create meaningful experiences.

For sustainable traveler, food, and fitness content creator Erwan Heussaff, his love for cooking good food paved the way for connecting with a fan who shares his culinary passion. It is through Carousell Philippines’ Reboxing campaign that the two were able to experience new opportunities and create new possibilities.

The campaign is part of Carousell’s new tagline, “Everyone Wins,” which shows how winning can be as simple as both buyers and sellers getting a great deal or as meaningful as finding new connections and realizing ambitions.

“I like the concept of reboxing things that you don’t really need anymore, and passing on those items to people who actually need them. For this campaign, I decided to share some of my favorite kitchen tools. Hopefully, these repurposed items will be part of someone else’s journey in realizing his/her dreams,” shares Erwan.

“We are glad to have Erwan onboard our Reboxing campaign. With a combined social media following of more than seven million, Erwan will enable us to entice a wider audience to join our movement for more sustainable consumerism. We hope this campaign will not only help consumers realize their dreams or get a good deal, but will also reduce environmental waste,” explains Raffy Montemayor, Carousell Philippines general manager.

As part of the campaign, Erwan filled a box with his preloved cooking tools and gave it away through a consumer contest on the Carousell app. The items in the box, which were regularly used by Erwan, are tools that he believes every home cook should have. It includes a cast iron pan, a limited edition Fat Kid Inside knife, and a Fat Kid Inside apron.

The lucky winner was Nicole Jastive, a Culinary Arts student, who was chosen for her heartfelt story. “Cooking is really my passion. That's why I find that your cooking videos, as well as winning your box, will help me learn a lot more. My goal is to one day become a Michelin Star Chef,” she said. As a bonus, she, along with her good friend Lizsh Cuenca, also experienced a one-on-one session with Erwan where they were given insider cooking tips on how to prepare a tender and juicy steak, as well as the cardinal rules in the kitchen that every home cook should follow.

Like Erwan, users are also encouraged to join the Reboxing movement by passing on their items to someone who may benefit from it. All they have to do is simply list their own box on the Carousell app for ₱0 with the hashtag #EveryoneWins, share it on their own social media channel, and nominate three friends by tagging them to keep the ball rolling!

To know more, download their app on Google Play Store and Apple App Store, or visit Carousell Philippines’ website https://www.carousell.ph/.

This is how you can compliment others if you’re too shy to do it

Throw compliments around like confetti .

When was the last time you say "thank you" when someone complimented you with your looks, your dress, shoes and or the way you laugh. I guess you should offer yours with some polite flattery. Just because a  good and sincere compliments will stay in memory of the receiver for ever.

That's why when someone compliments me with the way I look and or . I always answer back with "thank you" (with a smile).

When we pay a compliment to someone, we feel better about ourselves by making another person feel better about him- or herself

Mentos, the Philippines' number 1 selling candy, recently launches their campaign together with Celebrity Ambassadors Gabbi Garcia and Paulo Avelino at Top Shelf Fully Booked, BGC  last November 9.

Pinoys are generally shy and not very outspoken.  We usually think twice about giving a compliment, as we might sound too forward.  We are even more timid when it comes to receiving a compliment.  We become too modest or self-critical, because we don’t want to appear smug or overconfident.

Mentos, the Philippines' number 1 selling candy in leading supermarkets and convenience stores today, hopes to help change that with their limited-edition Mentos CompliMentos rolls.  Mentos is like a universal “friend request”, a conversation starter, a candy that helps you connect with people. In a bid to further spread positivity, Mentos introduces a new packaging for Mint and Fruit Chewy Dragees. The new packaging features 16 different compliments, such as “You fill me with excite-mint!”, “You sweeten up my life”, and “Your smile is refreshing”, among others.

With the help of Mentos CompliMentos, you get the chance to make a fresh connection by paying someone a sincere compliment.

Mentos wanted to bring that Global campaign closer to home by working with celebrities Paulo Avelino and Gabbi Garcia on a social experiment video. The two were seen separately on a small screen posing as static ads at a mall. They would try to get the attention of passersby in the mall and interact with them by paying them compliments. The social experiment culminates with Paulo and Gabbi revealing that they are actually at the mall, and start sharing Mentos CompliMentos rolls to the crowd and more live compliments from everyone around.

"What I learned was that people were shy and embarrassed at first but they were thrilled to receive compliments and nice comments. They sort of lost their shyness," said Paulo.

"The compliments served as ways to connect with them. What I saw was how they were not just flattered but touched by the compliments," said Gabbi.

"Mentos is all about making Fresh Connections and with Mentos CompliMentos, our latest limited-edition roll, we wanted to be the enabler or catalyst for these moments through the tangible manifestation of our brand positioning. Compliments don't need to be made up of big words. They can be something as simple as 'you have a nice smile' or 'you are kind.' Mentos came up with this campaign to help people make connections, meet new friends and learn how to accept compliments graciously," said Denise Opulencia, Mentos Brand Manager.

“Mentos continues to create fresh connections even on digital through its continued partnership with Shopee. As they gear up for the 11.11 sale, Mentos & Shopee have even more sweet deals in store for consumers!” said Eugen Soriano, Digital and E-Commerce Lead, Perfetti Van Melle Philippines.

Shopee is excited to partner with Mentos for the exclusive launch of Mentos Complimentos. Like the Shopee app, these limited-edition candies help to drive social engagement and encourage quality interactions amongst Filipinos. We are excited to be the first online platform to offer these to consumers just in time for our 11.11 Big Christmas Sale.” said Shopee Philippines Associate Director, Martin Yu.

So what do you say the next time anyone says you are look good today? Instead of a shy “hindi naman!”, try accepting the compliment with gratitude, and also finding something good about the other person too!

Mentos Complimentos rolls are currently available in Shopee. Get big discounts as part of Shopee’s 11.11 Big Christmas Sale. Order them now at https://shopee.ph/perfettivanmelle_phils.

Carousell’s existing counterfeit policy prohibits the sale of fake products, replicas or counterfeits

Carousell, one of the world’s largest and fastest growing classifieds, has launched the Carousell Rights Owners Programme (CROP), a platform that tackles counterfeit listings in collaboration with brand partners. CROP provides assurance to brands, whose rights are more closely protected, and users, who can deal with greater confidence in the marketplace platform.

CROP allows trusted brand partners to directly remove listings of brand replicas from Carousell with zero processing time, thus tightening the content moderation process by drastically reducing the time required for takedowns.

First piloted in December 2018 in Singapore, CROP has taken down 13,000 listings in the nine months since its introduction. Only select brand partners, whose activities will be closely monitored by Carousell, will have access to CROP and its content moderation capabilities. Brands that have come onboard CROP include Nike, Grab and luxury brands such as Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Bottega Veneta.

“We want to create a trusted marketplace platform and protect Carousellers from inadvertently purchasing counterfeits or unauthorised goods, while at the same time protecting brands’ rights. CROP allows us to proactively address both these issues seamlessly, eliminating any delay in action altogether. Once a listing has been deemed counterfeit and removed directly by the brand through CROP, the seller will automatically receive an email to notify them of the takedown due to their item’s infringement of Intellectual Property (IP) rights,” said Serena Darcel Chin, Head of Legal, Carousell.

Carousell’s existing counterfeit policy prohibits the sale of fake products, replicas or counterfeits and the creation of any content that violates any intellectual property rights. However, prior to CROP there was a longer process from the flagging of an item to the actual takedown, as its URL had to be first submitted to Carousell’s brand protection team for processing. To ensure swift action, Carousell is looking to further streamline and automate CROP’s processes in the near future.

“Trust and safety continues to be a key priority for Carousell. Carousell has been collaborating with and supporting the Police's efforts in combating the sale of counterfeit goods on its platform. We are invested in building a holistically safe and conducive environment for buying and selling and have seen very promising results from our combined efforts to tackle counterfeits,” said Raffy Montemayor, General Manager, Carousell Philippines.

CROP is the latest development Carousell’s series of dedicated efforts in building a trusted environment for its users. Besides CROP, Carousell has also invested resources in Sift Science (a third party service provider) and manual moderation teams to help combat counterfeits on the platform.

The SM Store spreads holiday cheer with new school building, toys

Smiles as bright as Christmas lights, and laughter that invigorated like Christmas carols—these filled the grounds of the Looc Elementary School in Nasugbu, Batangas as The SM Store gave the students there an early Christmas present that is #SoMagical.

Staying true to its commitment of bringing joy to communities where it is present, SM recently turned over its 100th school building donation, and The SM Store distributed toys to children.

Students of Looc Elementary School celebrate after receiving their new toy from the SM Store’s Share a Toy program.

It was only October 16, but it felt like Christmas morning. The students and teachers of Looc Elementary School could not contain their excitement as they took part in a morning of fun and games, a day before the official unveiling of the two-story, four-classroom new school building.

Christmas came early

Situated in front of the school’s sprawling grounds that offer the students an unobstructed view of nearby mountains is a covered court. On that day, employee volunteers from The SM Store Batangas, The SM Store Lipa and Savemore Nasugbu worked like Santa’s helpers to transform it into a festive spot, complete with balloons and party tables and chairs.

Students from Kinder to Grade 2 eagerly lined up, thrilled to witness a lively program and party with their friends and their newfound ates and kuyas. They were treated to fun performances from a magician, clowns, a balloon-twisting artist and a bubble artist. They also had their faces painted with flowers, butterflies, and superheroes. At the end of the program, they were given cuddly plush toys from The SM Store’s Toy Department, clothes from its Children’s Wear section and grocery items from Savemore.

Christmas came early for these kids. It was a new and unforgettable experience for the children of Looc, whose families are engaged in farming or are working at nearby resorts.

Mikko, one of the students of Looc Elementary School, shared how he loved the gift and enjoyed the festivities, which was a rare treat in their school.

“Masaya po ako sa natanggap ko na regalo. Masaya at maganda din ang program kanina, nagpafacepaint pa nga po ako. Minsan lang po kasi may ganito dito sa amin. (I am happy with the gift that I received. I really enjoyed the program. I even had my face painted. It’s not often that we get to enjoy celebrations like this),” Mikko said.

Dr. Luciana Tulagan, Principal of Looc Elementary, said that this event didn’t just bring joy to the kids but also taught them the value of sharing.

“Malaki pong kaligayahan ang naibigay ng SM dito sa mga mag-aaral ng Looc Elementary School. Dahil sa Share A Toy ng The SM Store, maimumulat namin sa mga bata na dapat hindi lang tuwing Pasko ang pagbibigayan, kungdi lagi. (The SM Store brought great happiness to the students of Looc Elementary School. Because of Share a Toy, we can educate the children that sharing happens not only during Christmas, but there are everyday opportunities to do it.)

#SoMagical Christmas

Truly, the spirit of Christmas is in sharing. This Holiday season, The SM Store continues to nurture just that through its Share A Toy campaign.

“SM values creating a positive impact in the communities where we are present. We are really grateful that SM gave us the opportunity to be a part of this meaningful event and the chance to share the spirit of Christmas through the gift of toys with the kids of Looc Elementary School. This is a memorable experience that we’ll treasure,” said Shelamie Marasigan, Assistant Branch Manager of The SM Store Lipa.

The SM Store is encouraging its generous shoppers to give back and make a kid’s Christmas #SoMagical by donating a new or pre-loved toy at the Share A Toy booth in all The SM Store branches nationwide. For every toy donated, the shopper will get a P50 discount voucher. The campaign runs from November 15, 2019 until December 31, 2019, with toys to be donated to beneficiaries of the SM Foundation.

These toy donations are a simple but meaningful gift for kids. More than just play items, toys are beneficial to a child’s development according to studies. Toys can help increase their learning retention, stimulate their creativity and imagination, enhance their senses, spur their emotional and social development, and help in developing their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.

Share A Toy is just one of the ways The SM Store inspires a culture of sharing and purposeful giving among its shoppers. Early this year, it conducted its Share Shoes program and Donate A Book campaign. Since its launch in 2015, The SM Share Movement has already collected more than 1.3 million items which include shoes, school supplies, clothes, toys, disaster kits and hygiene kits, which have been distributed across different parts of the country.

For more updates about the Share Movement and ways you could donate, visit www.thesmstore.com and follow its social media pages @thesmstore on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
