Dethroning the "Corona"

With the enhanced community quarantine in effect, social platforms, like TikTok, provide a great avenue to stay connected with the rest of the world.

Here are digital ways you can do to fight the new coronavirus:

Get Informed
Access to accurate and timely information is our first line of defense. TikTok created a special page within the platform for you to know the Things About About Coronavirus. These include advisories and preventive measures to protect yourself with the help of the World Health Organization. There’s also a special section called Mythbusters to debunk fallacies about the virus and fight misinformation.

Wash Hands Properly
Because Singing “Happy Birthday” twice for handwashing is pretty much outdated, users and creators on the platform are using their favorite songs for the full, clinically-approved 20 seconds of handwashing!

Earlier this March, the Ghen Cô Vy (English Version) was released in response to a recent PSA from Vietnam which has turned coronavirus caution into a grooving choreography to inspire hand sanitation.

TikTok users are joining the #HandwashTunes challenge to encourage people across the globe to wash hands the right way.

It is safe to assume that sinks will now be the new stadium for 20-second concerts!

Spread the Good
In these challenging times, the things that we should spread right now are Love, Hope and Positivity! TikTok users from around the globe is taking part in the hashtag challenge #LoveInTheTimeOfCorona and you should, too! Get inspired with this video.

Also, music brings hope and peace along with the message of love and compassion. In your TikTok videos, you can use the new collaborative song titled “Forever Beautiful: All for One Version” featuring our very own Ben&Benalongside Eric Chou and 13 artists across Asia.

Stay Social and Connected While Keeping the Distance
Take advantage of your time at home to catch up on your friends and family through your inbox.
Try new things for self-improvement. Perhaps, learn a new language or try a new dish.
You can also share  good vibes and entertain people. This is the best time to create tons of TikTok videos to save in Drafts for future uploading.

Together, we can fight the virus while maintaining our social interactions through the aid of social platforms. Just always remember that like  all trials and tribulations in human history,
this too shall pass.

Tagaytay Highlands reopens after successful clearing and relief operations

Tagaytay Highlands has reopened after much of the clean-up and rehabilitation efforts at the premier recreational and residential complex have been completed.

To date, the Highlands’ major roads, driveways, golf courses, and other facilities have been cleared following the Taal Volcano’s phreatic eruption early this year.

The top management of Tagaytay Highlands oversaw the continuous cleaning operations at the estate to ensure that all properties and facilities were operational in time for the return of the Highlands’ homeowners, members, and their guests.

In February, Tagaytay Highlands scaled up operations at the Midlands and Greenlands, including but not limited to the restoration of power and water supplies, rehabilitation of landscapes, and repairs of roofs and major spine roads, among others.

Major facilities in the Highlands, such as The Spa and Lodge and the Tagaytay Highlands Golf Course, likewise resumed operations in February. Dining places and indoor facilities of the Sports Center were also reopened.

While clean-up efforts were ongoing at the Highlands, the animals of the estate’s Animal Farm were temporarily housed at animal shelters to ensure their safety.

In conjunction with all this, club members, property owners, and sales teams successfully carried out relief operations for Highlands workers and residents of nearby communities—with donations from SM Cares and SM Foundation, Inc.

The Highlands team likewise initiated similar efforts benefiting residents of the neighboring barangays of Bunggo and Kalabuso in Calamba, Laguna, and Tanauan, Batangas.

On March 1, Tagaytay Highlands held a Thanksgiving Golf Tournament at its reopened Tagaytay Midlands Golf Course. Led by Mr. Hans T. Sy, chairman of the Executive Committee of SM Prime, the tournament kicked off the formal reopening of the golf course and other Highlands amenities.

MVP Group pours in support for COVID-19 Frontliners

More efforts to help health workers at the frontlines of the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak have been undertaken by Tulong Kapatid, the consortium of the corporate social responsibility consortium of companies, foundations, and affiliates led by businessman Manuel V. Pangilinan.

Roxas Holdings, Inc., recently turned over 4,000 Liters of 70% ethyl alcohol from Roxol Bionergy Corporation to frontline health workers of key government hospitals, including facilities of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

The alcohol shipment was delivered to the Philippine Navy and the Malacañang Palace through the Manuel L. Quezon University in Quiapo, Manila.

An allocation was also deployed at the Asian Hospital under the Metro Pacific Investments Corporation for distribution to other MPIC hospitals which are also handling COVID-19 cases.

The ethyl alcohol donation was brought to Metro Manila through the assistance of the Metropac Movers, Inc., PLDT-Smart Foundation (PSF) and the Makati Medical Center Foundation.

This is the initial delivery.  More are coming.  We are exerting all efforts to get supplies of materials and equipment that are badly needed in protecting our health workers but are very difficult to secure.  This is critical in the fight against COVID-19,” said PLDT and MPIC Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan.

Meanwhile, One Meralco Foundation donated 1,000 masks to frontline workers at the Rizal Medical Center in Pasig City. Another 1,000 masks were distributed to the frontline workers at the Philippine Heart Center in Quezon City.
Alagang Kapatid Foundation, Inc. of TV5 gave away masks and soap to the frontline health workers at the National Children’s Hospital. The mask and soap donations were provided by Philex Mining Corporation and Beiersdorf Philippines, Inc. (NIVEA Philippines), respectively.

The PSF and the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation also deployed ten buses to the Philippine Army. These will be used for ten days to help transport frontline health workers.

In support of ongoing efforts of the PSF, members of MVP Rewards may also convert their rewards to donations via the MVP Rewards app or mvprewards.ph. Donations will be used in the purchase of care packs for frontline health workers, checkpoint officers, emergency response teams and communities in need during the quarantine period. The service is currently available to enrolled MVP Rewards accounts of PLDT Home, Smart, Sun, TNT, Cignal and Maynilad, as well as Delos Santos Medical Center, Makati Medical Center and Easy Trip RFID.

The Metro Pacific Tollways Group will also be distributing relief goods to around 220 barangays along NLEX, SCTEX, and Cavitex.

Meantime, PLDT continued to provide connectivity for government agencies at the frontlines of implementing enhanced quarantine measures.  PLDT installed free WiFi Internet and free landline calls in some areas nationwide, including the Central Command Center in Batangas City. Strategic offices in Lucena, Zamboanga and Davao were also recipients of the free Internet connectivity and free landline calls.

This includes the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Center located in Lucena City Hall, Lucena Diversion; Municipal Command Center and the Provincial Information Office in Zamboanga; and the Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center in Malagos, Davao City. PLDT also provided free Internet connectivity in transportation areas and health centers, including the Bulaong Bus Terminal and City Health local government unit health center.

PLDT wireless unit, Smart continues to provide communication as aid in the form of Wi-Fi connectivity, SIMs, wireless devices, electronic load, and its Infocast SMS broadcast solution to various LGUs, government agencies and their response teams.

Clean and disinfected surroundings: a first defense against the new coronavirus

As news reports as of late all point to increasing cases globally of the new coronavirus (COVID-19), so has seemingly varying opinions over how to protect yourself from contracting the dreaded virus.

The World Health Organization (WHO) strongly recommends frequent cleaning of hands with alcohol or proper washing of hands with soap and water. Additionally, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) as well as the Center for Disease Control (CDC) both recommend environmental cleaning and the cleaning and disinfection of frequently touched objects and surfaces, utilizing both a regular household cleaning spray and a disinfectant. For the latter, one that contains Ethanol as the main antimicrobial agent.

Among other measures, one of the easiest and most accessible ways to prevent the contracting of COVID-19 is by keeping your home and office environment clean and disinfected. Specifically, the CDC emphasizes the routine cleaning and subsequent disinfection among household and community members of surfaces such as tables, desks, doorknobs, light switches, toilets, faucets and sinks.

And during the cleaning process, the CDC also recommends that dirty surfaces should first be cleaned using detergent or soap and water prior to disinfection. The use of disposable gloves is also recommended while cleaning and disinfecting. Or, have dedicated gloves for this purpose if using reusables.

Not to be missed out as well are surfaces such as carpets, rugs, and drapes, where appropriate cleaners for each should be used prior to disinfection.

So, keep note: always ensure that frequently touched surfaces are constantly kept clean and disinfected. And the next time you head to the supermarket, don’t forget to buy the right cleaning agents such as disinfectant sprays and multi-purpose cleaners and always check the label if appropriate for use.

During these challenging times, access to accurate information is key. Watch this video to stay informed: https://www.facebook.com/LysolPH/videos/2506003989663128/
