Airbnb’s latest listing now allows adults and children alike to turn their dreams into reality and live in the home of the world’s most famous bear!

Animated films and TV shows are a big part of Filipino childhood. It is every child's dream to set foot in these cartoon characters’ worlds — full of colors, adventures, and joy —  just like The Hundred Acre Wood where Winnie the Pooh and his friends live.

Airbnb’s latest listing now allows adults and children alike to turn their dreams into reality and live in the home of the world’s most famous bear! A Winnie the Pooh-inspired house in the Hundred Acre Wood is available to book on Airbnb as part of Disney’s 95th Anniversary celebrations of the loveable children’s character.

The Bearbnb is situated in Ashdown Forest just south of London, and is inspired by A.A. Milne’s original tales in the Hundred Acre Wood. With two separate stays available, the Bearbnb sleeps up to four guests at a time, giving Winnie the Pooh fans the opportunity to immerse themselves in the iconic world of Pooh and Friends.

Inspired by E.H. Shephard’s original decorations, the house has charming references to the original Pooh tales

Guests can also enjoy snack of “a little something” encouraged at 11 o’clock in the morning at the outdoor dining table

Hosting the Airbnb stay is Disney-appointed Winnie the Pooh illustrator, Kim Raymond, who curated the Bearbnb and has been drawing the iconic bear for over 30 years. Kim brought Pooh’s house to life taking inspiration from the original decorations of E.H. Shepard and he notes: “I have been illustrating Winnie the Pooh for thirty years and I continue to be inspired by the classic decorations of E.H. Shepard and the more recent Disney stories. The ‘Bearbnb’ is a unique experience that brings the charm of Pooh to life for fans, whilst honouring the original adventures that have been so important to many people for 95 years.”

The custom-built ‘Bearbnb’ and entire stay, bookable only on Airbnb, is fit for Pooh and his adventures with Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore and friends:

The house is built with exposed tree branches wrapped around the doorway with ‘Mr. Sanders’ inscribed above

Bespoke wallpaper designed by host Kim Raymond

If guests take a peek inside kitchen cupboards, they’ll find shelves stocked full of ‘hunny’ pots

Alongside the charming references to the original Pooh tales, the house is fully kitted out for guests to enjoy a relaxing family stay, including a double bed on the ground floor, and a mezzanine area with two comfortable single beds. The lounge space comes fully equipped with a cosy seating and dining area for guests to appreciate a “smackerel” or two. During each stay, guests will be taken on a guided tour through the original Hundred Acre Wood, play Poohsticks on the iconic Poohsticks Bridge and enjoy locally sourced hunny-inspired meals.

The ‘Bearbnb’ will also be stocked with a host of wellness products to encourage guests to embrace their natural surroundings and live more like Pooh, who is famous for going at his own pace. The products include yoga mats, journals and throws. And for those not quick enough to book one of the stays, they can recreate their own tranquil retreat at home with help from the new Winnie the Pooh range available on shopDisney.co.uk.

Catherine Powell, Airbnb Global Head of Hosting said: “Winnie the Pooh is a childhood jewel beloved by families the world over. This year, the original books celebrate their 95th anniversary. What better way to commemorate A.A. Milne’s classic work than with these two once-in-a-lifetime stays in the original Hundred Acre Wood. A perfect place to do nothing. As Pooh said, “doing ‘Nothing’ often leads to the very best Something”.

Tasia Filippatos, SVP, Consumer Products, Games and Publishing at The Walt Disney Company said: “For over 95 years, Winnie the Pooh has inspired generations with his memorable words, experiences and adventures.  These timeless tales explore life’s simple pleasures and in that spirit we hope guests are able to sit back and relax in the ‘Bearbnb’, and ‘be more Pooh’ for the day.”

House Rules:

Strictly no heffalumps inside the house

Hands are to be kept out of the honey pots

A snack of “a little something” encouraged at 11 o’clock in the morning

      Poohsticks is mandatory

      Multiple naps are permitted

No pets (other than Roos, Tiggers, Eeyores and Piglets and Pooh Bears)

For safety reasons, it’s recommended that only guests aged 6+ sleep in the single beds on the mezzanine level. A cot or camp bed can be provided on the ground floor for younger guests.

The Asiamoney Best Bank Awards 2021 recognized Metrobank as the “Best Domestic Bank in the Philippines”

Surviving through the economic backlash brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic is a feat in itself. By doing the spadework and adjusting to the demands of a changed world, many financial institutions continue to grapple with the ongoing pandemic. However, it takes a special kind of fortitude to not just survive, but to thrive and grow in these unprecedented times.

The Asiamoney Best Bank Awards 2021 recognized this fortitude in Metropolitan Bank and Trust Co. (Metrobank), and fittingly hailed them as the “Best Domestic Bank in the Philippines”.

“Metrobank is a firm to be reckoned with in the Philippines,” said Asiamoney Editor Rashmi Kumar. “What stands out with Metrobank is its sheer resilience during tough times, including all the uncertainty caused by the pandemic over the past eighteen months,” she added.

Kumar further pointed out Metrobank’s status as one of the country’s foremost universal banks, offering a diverse stable of business and products for a range of clients while showing strong growth year after year.

Metrobank credited its resilience to the lessons they learned from surviving the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis, a similar event that also left the economic backdrop in shambles. “Drawing from our experience back then, our mantra this time is to be proactive at the onset of a crisis so we can quickly get our feet back on the ground,” said Metrobank President Fabian S. Dee. The Bank pursued a prudent risk management strategy, ensured strong capital levels, and kept a healthy balance sheet with best-in-class asset quality metrics.

Dee further enumerated some of the bank’s key strategies that made them emerge and grow amid an economic downturn. “True to our meaningful banking promise, we first focused on what, or who, meant the most to us: the customers,” he beamed.

At the first signs of a possible economic downturn, the Bank immediately reached out to their clients, providing them with alternative access to banking services through digital technology, evaluating and providing advice to manage their financial health and conducting several webinars including a fraud awareness campaign to help protect customers.

Metrobank pursued a prudent and proactive approach in managing its portfolio to protect asset quality, and sustain long term profitability and capital strength.

Despite an economic downturn, the Bank managed to grow its low cost current and savings accounts (CASA) grew 22% to PhP1.3 trillion, reflecting the Bank’s solid deposit franchise and customer confidence in the Bank.

The bank also generated a 26% increase in pre-provisioning profits to PhP61.8 billion in 2020.  This enabled the Bank to set aside PhP40.8 billion in provisions, thus creating a solid buffer against potential risks from the pandemic. Metrobank’s proactive provisioning raised non-performing loan (NPL) cover to 163% from 103% in 2019, strengthening the Bank’s capacity to withstand asset quality pressures.

Metrobank believes its prudent approach in 2020 paved the way for a strong start this year, with net income growing 28% to PhP11.7 billion in the first half of 2021. Stable asset quality and superior capital ratios give the Bank a strong position to take on opportunities ahead.

The Bank also remains committed to the community. Through the combined efforts of Metrobank Foundation and GT Foundation, Metrobank offered support for the needy and mobilized funds towards various pandemic aid programs.

“We are honored and humbled to be recognized as the Best Domestic Bank in the Philippines. It is indeed a great gift for us as we celebrate our 59th Anniversary,” Dee said. “We are merely doing what is second-nature to us: to provide meaningful services to our customers. Through their trust, even in the face of a financial crisis, we are motivated to always do what is best for all our stakeholders,” Dee concluded.

The Asiamoney Best Bank Awards 2021 is an annual ceremony that recognizes which banks in each market excel across a range of categories.

Stylist to the stars and entrepreneur Liz Uy shares her top five essentials that helped her steer her businesses effectively from home

The The current global health challenge has given the world of entrepreneurship a new perspective -- one that does not have skyscrapers, metro traffic, and face-to-face stakeholder meetings. Empires are now born and managed in bedrooms, sala areas, and even home kitchens, making opportunities more available and inclusive for parents managing the household.

On mothers specifically, the “Economic Engagement of Mothers: Entrepreneurship, Employment, and the Motherhood Wage Penalty” report  by Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation has shown that six out of ten moms aspire to be their own boss, hence the jump to entrepreneurship; while 52 percent said they dabbled in entrepreneurship to make more money to obtain a higher standard of living. And with the rise of various business channels both offline and online, and the changing business landscape -- there is no doubt that more mompreneurs will be taking part in the playing field.

Stylist to the stars and entrepreneur Liz Uy is no stranger to the uphill climb that one has to take in starting a business, more so managing one remotely. But with her various ventures taking flight, the mother of two

  1. Have Your Own Personal WFH Area

Liz’s first must for every mom-preneur is to create a creativity and productivity lair in the house, no matter how big the area is or where it is located.

Having your own area sets a spatial cue that you are ready to work and to put in the grind. Do not shy away from showing off your personality through the aesthetic of your work area. Get those abubots in, paint those walls with your beloved pantones, put those paintings or posters up. It’s important that you feel that the area is 100% “you”.

Liz has always kept her work-from-home arena neat and inspiring to energize her daily as she meets clients, partners and different stakeholders. She manages her different ventures in a minimalist yet chic work area which has the fresh vibes that set the mood.

  1. Dressing Well Gives an Instant Confidence Boost

Former Vogue editor Diana Vreeland once famously said, “You gotta have style. It helps you get down the stairs. It helps you get up in the morning. It’s a way of life.”

Indeed, being comfortable in your own skin and expressing yourself through your own style is very empowering. Feel free to dress up and flaunt your style and panache. Liz Uy shares that dressing up at home has allowed her to work smarter. Doing so boosts her psyche, and makes her feel more confident and ready for the day -- not to mention being ready to hop on to sudden video calls and meetings.

The patterns are waiting to be paired, colors ready to be matched. Show them who the boss is -- with style.

  1. Self Care is a Must

Working and doing business from home causes burnout. Before the lockdowns and implementation of telecommuting dynamics, the home was a sanctuary for relaxation and time off of work. But with these lines blurred, one can mindlessly lose track of time and just exhaust all energy in the grind.

An important reminder from Liz is to find time to take care of yourself. Part of Liz’s regular morning routine is meditation, which studies worldwide show is effective at managing stress levels and boosting productivity as it calms the mind and the spirit. Meditation also increases focus and motivation which are vital for success.

Before getting in the zone, Liz also makes sure she gets a cup of coffee and time to read her books. However, her first order of business every day is her skincare routine, which according to her, gives her moments of calm and peace.

In establishing a daily routine, do not miss adding in those that benefit you physically, mentally and spiritually. Being shipshape across all facets is what will get you through the tough waves.

  1. Spend Time with Your Family

Not facing the metro traffic daily frees up your schedule tremendously. Nothing can be a better boost than a hug from your child or a kiss from your special someone. Try to squeeze in your jampacked schedule quick moments of fun and bonding with your family. Surely, five-minute tea parties and simple baking sessions in the afternoon wouldn’t hurt.

  1. Have Good Tech Partners

The devices you use while working from home can greatly impact your productivity and creativity. As ideas are needed to be churned and decisions are needed to be made, make sure you are well equipped with technology that can make things easier and more efficient.

Liz recently upgraded her work-from-home set-up with a premium standalone monitor from Huawei -- the Huawei MateView. This monitor, which sports a 28.2-inch screen with 4K+ resolution, has helped the A-list stylist and entrepreneur in studying trends and looking at clothes better. She also studies reports and updates from staff with ease due to the immersive display.

Sporting a minimalist design and thin build, the premium monitor also complements any aesthetic goals. It also has a Smart Bar that processes intelligent gestures for essential functions. And with its many ports and wireless projection capability, synergizing this display with your other devices will be a breeze -- even if you’re a Mac user.

The Huawei MateView retails locally for Php 34,999 and is available on the official HUAWEI Online Store, flagship stores on Lazada and Shopeeand HUAWEI Experience Stores nationwide.

Every great business started with an idea -- a “what if” to the challenges faced by people, the wants they have, and their regularly changing needs. Liz hopes that with these five tips, you get to step forward with all Filipino mom-preneurs in starting and maintaining successful business ventures that will make you achieve your goals for yourself and your family.

GROWQC: Kasama Ka sa Pag Unlad sa Pagkain, Kabuhayan, at Kalusugan made it to the finalist circle for the Galing Pook Awards of 2021

GROWQC: Kasama Ka sa Pag Unlad sa Pagkain, Kabuhayan, at Kalusugan, a pioneering initiative of the Quezon City - Food Security Task Force  (QC-FSTF) made it to the finalist circle for the Galing Pook Awards of 2021.

Launched in 1993, the awards recognize the innovative practices by local government units (LGUs) that are aimed at improving the quality of life for their constituents. LGU finalists go through rigorous evaluations and screening processes based on positive results and impact, the promotion of people’s participation and empowerment, innovation, transferability and sustainability, as well as efficiency of program service delivery.

Upon declaration of the hard lockdowns in 2020, LGUs needed to provide relief through food and cash to residents as fast they could mobilize -- which immediately had an effect on the city’s resources and stockpile. Quezon City, through Mayor Joy Belmonte, aimed to become more self-reliant by establishing urban gardens and farms with GROWQC. “We now have 166 sites in different areas across the city that serve as a source of nutrition and comfort and mental relief for many of our QCitizens,” Belmonte shared recently in a forum with the United Nations.

“Food security is central, but I don’t think any city has a grassroots food security action plan laid out – which is why I am grateful to the QC- FSTF for doing their part and making sure that we were able to extend relief across the city to those who need it,” Belmonte continued. “I am looking forward to presenting what GROWQC has cultivated across the city, and the positive ripple effect that ensuring food security has had on the lives of our underprivileged.”

Programs that win the awards become models of good government promoted for adoption in other communities, and possibly may even extend to other countries as the Galing Pook Foundation is part of the Global Public Innovations Network, a network of ten public policy awards programs from around the world which enables the pooling and dissemination of experiences and knowledge about innovations in public service delivery, public action, and governance. This thereby affirms the community where they started, and emphasizes the LGUs commitment to good governance. The awarding ceremony will be held in October, marking the 30th year since the enactment of the Local Government Code

P&G partners with Philippine Red Cross for COVID-19 Bakuna Buses

Procter & Gamble (P&G) Philippines continues stepping up as a force for good by supporting the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) mission to assist in the government’s national COVID-19 vaccination program.

P&G recently donated over 5 million pesos to fund PRC COVID-19 Mobile Vaccination Clinics, popularly known as ‘Bakuna Buses’. Over the next eight months, they will deploy three (3) mobile vaccination clinics that will serve at least 150 barangays and 15,000 highly vulnerable Filipinos in CALABARZON who are especially challenged in accessing LGU bakuna centers. These include senior citizens, persons with disabilities, bed-ridden patients, and persons with special needs. This not only supports the government’s vaccination program but also protects communities in region 4, which is home to P&G’s Cabuyao manufacturing plant and where P&G employees and their families live and work.

In their virtual turnover ceremony, PRC’s Secretary General, Elizabeth Zavalla, along with Red Cross CALABARZON’s chapter administrators, expressed their heartfelt gratitude for P&G’s long-standing partnership with the private organization and for choosing CALABARZON as the beneficiary area of the Bakuna Buses. “This is another milestone for our partnership”, said Secretary General Zavalla. “We could not thank Procter & Gamble enough for this continuing partnership, for always trusting the Philippine Red Cross, and for your leadership in supporting humanitarian efforts”, she continued.

The fully-equipped PRC Mobile Vaccine Clinics are set to make two to four visits per barangay to cover the first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Currently, the Philippine Red Cross is in the process of determining the key cities in region 4A that are of utmost priority for this program, with a population of highly vulnerable people as one of the factors for consideration.

“P&G strives to be a Force for Good in the Philippines. We focus on the protection, prevention, and vaccination of our employees, their families, and our communities. At the start of the pandemic, we re-purposed our plant to produce and donate 3 million medical-grade face masks to protect the frontline.  We continuously donate thousands of P&G health and hygiene kits to vulnerable families and communities to prevent sickness in their homes. Now, the Mobile Vaccination Clinics are a timely initiative to provide vaccine access and protection for highly vulnerable individuals who need it most,” said Raffy Fajardo, President and General Manager of P&G Philippines.

P&G Philippines is also on the road to getting its employees vaccinated with an 80% vaccination completion rate. Apart from the company purchased vaccines, they have also partnered with the local governments of Taguig and Cabuyao to execute vaccine administrations for their workforce in these cities.

Aiming to complete their employee vaccination in October, they also hope to begin their commitment to vaccinate employees’ families, all eligible dependents, and additional members from employee households.

Here’s a simple three-step hand care routine from Chic Nails and Bobbie Nails to keep your hands looking fab even while at home

The pandemic has drastically changed beauty routines. Since many people have opted to stay home as many establishments have limited customers, more and more have been trying their hand at DIY beauty procedures to relax at home. These routines can range from doing simple skincare and hair treatments to experimenting on elaborate nail art.

One routine often overlooked is hand care, especially now with the regular disinfection needed to curb germs. Frequent hand washing and the use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers can be very drying. This is why it’s just as important to prioritize hand care.

Here’s how you can do it at home:

Moisturizer is your best friend

Always have hand cream ready to moisturize your hands after multiple disinfection. This will keep your hands soft, as well as prevent skin problems caused by dryness.

Massage all the pain away

Aside from moisturizing, hand care also includes relieving any pain you may have after working or doing chores all day. Any kind of hand cream or moisturizing product is best for hand massages for soothing effects.

Give yourself a fun and classy manicure

Once done moisturizing and massaging your hands, complete the at-home pamper session with a manicure. First, prep your nails by cleaning and clipping them to the right shape. Next, apply your preferred nail polish color.

For something that gives a year-round summer vibe, try Chic Nail Color’s Chic Happens! Collection, which has six bold and bright shades and a colorless top coat to complete the just-manicured look. If you’re into glossy nails that will last longer, the 12 new shades of Bobbie Nails Ultra Shine gel-based nail polish give nails a shinier coat and better coverage with just one swipe.

The Chic Happens! Collection and the new Bobbie Nails Ultra Shine Collection are now available on Bobbie’s Lazada flagship store, drug stores, and supermarkets.
