Ortigas Malls brought home two awards at the recently held 2022 International Business Awards (IBA)


 

Ortigas Malls brought home two awards at the recently held 2022 International Business Awards (IBA)--a Silver Stevie Award for PR Campaign of the Year in Community Engagement for its Elite Pet Society campaign and a Bronze Stevie Award for Most Valuable Corporate Response for its pandemic efforts.

 

IBA, also known as the International Stevies, is the world’s premier business awards designed to honor outstanding workplaces all over the world.

 

The Elite Pet Society campaign, which was awarded a Silver Stevie, sought to introduce more pet-friendly innovations in the country, mainly through a mobile app that serves as a loyalty program for pet owners in the Ortigas community. The program revolutionized the pet care experience as it engaged animal enthusiasts — with rewarding deals, access to exclusive events, and other perks every time they provided for their beloved pets.

 

“The idea of building loyalty at major malls by appealing to pet owners is a valuable move. Malls are already savvy at reaching out to parents of young children, and attracting committed pet owners could bring similar advantages,” one of the judges said.

 

Ortigas Malls’ Elite Pet Society campaign was widely admired by the community of animal lovers in the city.

 

The brand also won a Bronze award for its corporate pandemic response for being one of the first mall chains to have 100% of its staff fully-vaccinated and boosted. In order to achieve this, Ortigas Malls partnered with the cities of San Juan and Pasig, which led them to be given the cities’ Safety Seal Certification.

 

The judges lauded Ortigas Malls’ initiative to conduct a private-public sector partnership to bolster its nation-building efforts in the communities they serve. They also recognized the brand for maintaining a safe environment for mall goers and allowing the use of its real estate for vaccination efforts.

 

The distinctions that Ortigas Malls received prove that the campaigns were a success — communities are engaged now more than ever, and shoppers are safely going back to the places and activities they love the most.

Doctors, hospitals, and mental health advocates rally behind National mWellness Day

 

With only a few more days to go before National mWellness Day, a growing number of volunteer doctors, health experts and mental health advocates join forces with mWell for the biggest nationwide online medical mission.

mWell by Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (PSE: MPI), the Philippines’ fastest-growing health app, brings healthcare closer to Filipinos nationwide as it provides free online consultation via the mWell app on August 27-28. Two homegrown Filipino brands find success on Lazada



 Filipino beauty brands have been making waves in the scene for a while now, dominating consumers’ hearts through utilizing eCommerce and social media for their brands. As one of the biggest platforms and eCommerce pioneer in the country, Lazada has been  empowering local beauty and skincare brands to flourish by providing an avenue for Filipinos to easily find and buy the products they’re looking for.  

 

Two local brands who have established their presence on the platform are Clocheflame and Apotheke Science. Both companies were founded on the genuine desire to inspire people, and both were built from the ground up on Lazada.

Cultivating Everyday Filipina Beauty

25-year-old Arianne Amante established Clocheflame, a local beauty brand providing quality but affordable make-up products fit for the everyday Filipina. She always knew that she wanted to start a beauty brand, with her inspiration stemming from her college thesis highlighting Filipino’s perception of self-beauty.

She eventually made her dream a reality by opening her shop in 2020, leaving her corporate job to focus on her business full-time. 

Launching the business 2 years ago was definitely a challenge with the unexpected hurdles brought about by the pandemic, but she shared that onboarding her fledgling brand on Lazada was an easy decision to make. 

 “Putting up our business in Lazada was a no-brainer because we knew that it was a vital tool for us to grow our business, and this has been proven true,” says Amante. 

The brand is proud of  being rooted on the principles of sustainability and helping the economy grow by limiting plastic consumption and partnering with local manufacturers. Like any other start-up, however, Clocheflame encountered hurdles early on. Amante rallied her small team of five full-time members by telling them to focus on the brand’s strengths. Being on Lazada from the get-go also helped them to break through. They saved budget on rent and high commission fees that were reallocated to R&D, and they also enjoyed the platform’s massive reach.

“Lazada is very generous in extending help and offering extra mileages to small businesses like ours, especially when it comes to getting exposure,” Amante said, adding they were immediately listed on LazMall, Lazada’s curated selection of leading international and local brands, establishing their credibility to consumers. “Being on the LazMall channel really added  credibility for us to be recognized as a legitimate brand and that’s something we’re truly thankful for.”

Clocheflame also maximized Lazada’s many seller features and resources designed to help business grow. Amante’s vision for Clocheflame is to become a homegrown brand that Filipinos can be truly proud of. Her advice to those looking to follow her footsteps? Remember that “failure is not fatal” and that “it is the courage to continue that counts." 

“That [line] speaks to me on so many levels,” she said. “I’m only 25, I know that that’s very young, but I use that as an advantage for me to have more room to make mistakes and do better. I always tell others just to know your why, stay true to your identity, and protect that spark. The one thing that will differentiate you from others is your story and your purpose—own that.”

Creating Natural Skincare Solutions

Meanwhile, Apotheke Science was likewise developed from a simple intent to help others. 

It all started with the founder of the local skincare brand formulating a salve that would help the skin of patients undergoing chemotherapy heal from the effects of radiation. The product proved to be effective for them, as well as for those who suffered from the effects of eczema, psoriasis and dry skin. Initially distributed in a hospital, it also worked for doctors and nurses whose skin was damaged from stress and lack of sleep.

The salve would eventually be known as the Apotheke Skin Doctor balm, now sought-after for its anti-aging effects. Following its success, the founders decided to develop more products to serve the wider population in need of effective but affordable skincare solutions.

Joining Fender in inaugurating the new Yoli Philippine Office and Experience Center are Co-Founder Kimi Fender, Chief Operating Officer Kirby Zenger and Yoli Philippines Country General Manager Boots Remotigue.

As a testament to its commitment, the company is inking more partnerships to support initiatives which push its advocacies promoting health and wellness. AIA Philippines’ most recent collaboration is with the Philippine College of Physicians Foundation, Inc. (PCPF) who received a donation pledge of PHP1.5 million to fund the organization’s Bridging Leadership Workshops and projects, and other non-communicable disease registry/programs.

The Philippine College of Physicians (PCP) is the umbrella organization of internists in the Philippines. This organization aims to continue the medical education of internists and other physicians, and provide accreditation and certification of training programs for internal medicine in the Philippines. PCP created the PCP Foundation to become the social service arm of the College.

 

The PCP conducted a Bridging Leadership Workshop in 2021 for their members. This is a transformational leadership program focused on enabling the physicians to work with other stakeholders, such as the local government units, in providing innovative health projects for their respective communities. AIA Philippines is supporting some of the projects. 

 

Some notable programs under the partnership include GINAHA (the Sweetheart Project, which aims to improve health outcomes through community empowerment of indigent hypertensive and diabetic patients of barangay San Isidro village, Virac, Catanduanes. Another is the “Magpangaman gamit ang BOTA, Leptospirosis matana ta” initiated by the PCP Western Visayas-Panay chapter that aims to prevent Leptospirosis among farmers from Cabatuan, Iloilo, a town where a high incidence of Leptospirosis is found. If these programs are successful, it can serve as a model for preventing non-communicable diseases and leptospirosis in other areas. 

 

Aside from the PCP Foundation, AIA Philippines has other ongoing partnerships with various organizations in the health sector: the Cancer Research and Registry Philippines Foundation (CARE), the Philippine Alliance of Patient Organization, the Philippine College of Surgeons Cancer Commission Foundation (PCS-CanCom), I Can Serve Foundation, UP Cancer Institute, the Philippine Society of Public Health Physicians (PSPHP), and the Ateneo School of Governance (ASOG).
