Clint Eastwood's real-life heroes drama “The 15:17 to Paris” will be shown Feb 21, 2018

Clint Eastwood’s drama “The 15:17 to Paris,” about the real-life heroes who derailed a terrorist attack during a highspeed train ride, will be released
in the Philippines on February 21, 2018. The announcement was made October 24 by Sue Kroll, President of Worldwide Marketing and Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

Kroll stated, “Clint Eastwood is one of our most prolific and enduring filmmakers and we are thrilled to continue our longtime collaboration with him as we bring his next film to the screen. This is both a touching story of three lifelong friends and a compelling tale of patriotism and heroism, and we felt this would be a great window for audiences everywhere to experience this uplifting true story.”

In the early evening of August 21, 2015, the world watched in stunned silence as the media reported a thwarted terrorist attack on Thalys train #9364 bound for Paris—an attempt prevented by three courageous young Americans traveling through Europe. “The 15:17 to Paris” follows the course of the friends’ lives, from the struggles of childhood through finding their footing in life, to the series of unlikely events leading up to the attack. Throughout the harrowing ordeal, their friendship never wavers, making it their greatest weapon and allowing them to save the lives of the more than 500 passengers on board.

The heroic trio is comprised of Anthony Sadler, Oregon National Guardsman Alek Skarlatos, and U.S. Air Force Airman First Class Spencer Stone, who play themselves in the film. Starring alongside them are Jenna Fischer (“Hall Pass,” TV’s “The Office”); Judy Greer (“War for the Planet of the Apes”); and Ray Corasani (TV’s upcoming “The Long Road Home”). Paul-Mikél Williams plays the younger Anthony; Bryce Gheisar plays the younger Alek; and William Jennings takes on the role of the younger Spencer‬.

Eastwood (“Sully,” “American Sniper”) directed from a screenplay by Dorothy Blyskal, based on the book The 15:17 to Paris: The True Story of a Terrorist, a Train, and Three American Heroes by Anthony Sadler, Alek Skarlatos, Spencer Stone and Jeffrey E. Stern. Eastwood also produced the film, along with Tim Moore, Kristina Rivera and Jessica Meier. The film’s executive producer is Bruce Berman.

Behind the scenes, the creative team includes frequent collaborators Tom Stern, who served as cinematographer on 13 of Eastwood’s previous films; Deborah Hopper, who has served as Eastwood’s costume designer on 17 prior films; and Blu Murray, who most recently cut “Sully.” Veteran art director Kevin Ishioka, whose work can be seen in “Sully” and in this summer’s “Dunkirk,” served as production designer.

The film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

GCash: Pay for everyday purchases using your mobile phone #GCashMoNaYan

Recent surveys often report that millennials would rather lose their wallet than lose their phone. Are wallets and cash things of the past?

GCash seems to be making this happen sooner by introducing the scan to pay feature in the GCash App.  GCash is the mobile wallet service for Globe customers used to pay bills, send money or buy load.  Now, the new feature lets you pay for goods and services just by scanning a QR code using your phone.

“We want to give the people a different kind of experience where all they will be needing is their phone to pay for their daily expenses.  With scan to pay, there will soon be a time when GCash can already be used to pay your neighborhood sari-sari store or even the balut or ice cream vendor just by scanning the QR code sticker of the vendor.  It has been done in other places and we’re also doing it here,” said Anthony Thomas, President and CEO of Mynt which operates GCash.

The scan to pay feature can now be used at Mercato Centrale, Kabisera, and Ibiza, among many others, in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. It is also being rolled out in in various establishments such as malls, fastfood joints, pharmacies, at movie theaters.

To experience the cashless lifestyle with scan to pay, all you need to do is download the GCash App which is available for both Android and iOS devices. Top up or cash in at Globe Stores or GCash Partner Outlets such as SM Business Centers, Puregold, Cebuana Lhuillier, and 7-Eleven. Find the QR code of the merchant then just use your GCash App to scan the code and pay. This is a whole new level of cashless lifestyle.

The GCash App scan to pay feature is definitely a game-changer, making cash so yesterday. If you want to experience the scan to pay feature of GCash, head on to Glorietta 4 this October 25!

Try it and you’ll agree, cash is so yesterday. GCash mo na yan

TrueMoney PH is now one of the largest payment and remittance networks in the country,

TrueMoney Philippines recently achieved one of their biggest milestones to date. In less than a year of operations in the country, the company already reached its 1 million transacting customer mark. TrueMoney is a Fintech brand of Ascend Money, a digital finance venture of the C.P. Group from Thailand, one of the largest diversified conglomerates in Asia, and Ant Financial (Alipay), the payments arm of e-commerce giant Alibaba Group.

 Humble Beginnings and Rapid Growth
It wasn’t so long ago when TrueMoney Philippines was just a business concept on a set of PowerPoint slides.

Within the first few months, TrueMoney Philippines grew its workforce from one person to hundreds of employees spread across several regions in the country. The team also launched its core technology system and began offering services on a pilot basis to several partners.

In a few months’ time, it already built what is now one of the largest payment and remittance networks in the country, with over 5,000 TrueMoney Centers.

“Our mission is to provide everyone with ACCESS to affordable and innovative financial services, particularly those who are underbanked and underserved today,” says TrueMoney Philippines CEO Xavier Marzan. “That means being pervasive and going to where these underserved segments are.”

Today, TrueMoney Philippines already provides services such as payment of e-commerce purchases, bills payment, buying of load and credits, and remittance to multiple provinces nationwide, including far flung areas in Albay, Bataan, Benguet, Bohol, Bukidnon, Cagayan de Oro, Camarines Sur, Cavite, Cebu, Davao, Ilocos, Isabela, Laguna, La Union, Metro Manila, Misamis Oriental, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Quezon, Rizal, Tarlac, and Zambales and more!

“Where we are today is just the starting point,” Marzan says. “We are constantly growing our network of partner centers to cover more greenfield areas.”

With an empowered footprint of TrueMoney Centers in strategic corridors, TrueMoney introduced its Money Padala (remittance) service a few months ago. For TrueMoney’s Partner Agents, this meant a more diversified portfolio of services and a greater potential of earning higher income. For its customers, it meant convenience and affordability as TrueMoney’s cash-to-cash Money Padala service is one of the lowest sending rates in the country.

While the average rates for domestic remittances today range from 3 percent to more than 10 percent for some providers, TrueMoney rates go as low as only 2 percent of the transaction amount—without any additional charges to the recipient. So say for remittances of P1,000, the total cost of sending is only P20. The recipient also gets the entire amount without any additional charges.
To reinforce its drive to serve the masses, TrueMoney has also worked with talk show host Boy Abunda in promoting the new brand in the Philippine market.

“This is just the first step,” Marzan adds. “In the coming months, we will be launching additional payment partners and expanding our portfolio of services. Given our industry, we need to constantly stay ahead of what the market demands. We need to be at the forefront of innovation to address current gaps in the market with new products as well as to solve difficult challenges in an emerging market like ours with new capabilities.”

To know more about TrueMoney and how to become a TrueMoney partner agent, visit www.truemoney.com.ph or call (02) 7189999. You may even text them at 09778063775 (Globe) or 0998565999 (Smart).

VAL JOHN BRINGS RAIN BACK TO THE PH

Anything about Korea, its history and culture including K-Pop and K-dramas, language, food, fashion, and cosmetics have pervaded the consciousness of Filipinos. Some spend huge amount of money to visit Korea or attend a K-Pop concert. Others join dance cover competitions that would give them a once in a lifetime chance to compete with other foreign finalists in Korea.

Val John (center) with Miko and Gab

Such is the case of Val John, the Cultural Diplomat of the Korean Cultural Center. The Ateneo graduate was the Philippines’ representative in the 2015 K-Pop World Festival held in Changwon, South Korea. Val John is a self-confessed fan of Rain, Korea’s King of Pop. “His dance moves are amazing,” he answered when asked why he likes the Korean superstar.

His enthusiasm about anything and everything Korean started when he was in high school. He is a good friend of Sandara Park’s brother Park Sang-Hyun (known by his stage name Thunder) whom he met while they were undergoing ABS-CBN workshops. Val John was a volunteer of the Korean Cultural Center in 2010 and studied the Korean language in 2011. He lived in Korea for four years where he trained in singing and dancing, did some business, and learned more about the language.

Val John turned his passion for everything Korean into another worthwhile endeavor. He is one of the performers and concert producers of Rise 2 Shine Benefit Concert featuring his idol, Rain, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on November 3 (Friday), 8pm. Joining them onstage are Sam Concepcion, Jay R, Kris Lawrence, Miko and Gab, Loisa Andalio, Isabelle de Leon, Jinho Bae, Dasuri Choi, Krissha Viaje, Bendeatha, and Cursebox. Miko and Gab will be the opening act of Rise 2 Shine.

The event is presented by Ko-Ph World Foundation, Yeppunonnie, and Ouniwang. This is for the benefit of Marawi, MYNP Foundation, and Ko-Ph World Foundation.

“I invite everyone to watch the concert. Not only will you get a chance to watch Rain perform but our local artists as well. We will show everyone that Pinoys are world class talents. Plus, you get to be part of a good cause,” says Val John.

Tickets are now available at all Ticketnet outlets. Call 911-5555 or visit www.ticketnet.com.ph.

5 reasons why you should watch Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok in IMAX theatres

Marvel fans were treated to an exciting cinema experience as they got the first preview of the much-awaited sequel of Thor in SM Megamall’s IMAX Theater.
In the movie, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer, and is forced to team-up with the Hulk, Loki and new player Valkyrie to stop “Ragnarok”—the destruction of Asgard and its civilization, at the hands of the ruthless and all-powerful Hela.

Fans were left at the edge of their seat as they experienced the full glory of the movie in IMAX. Here are

1.       IMAX exclusively features 26% more of the action than a the regular          screen
With select scenes shot exclusively using an IMAX camera, the theatre has a special format that features a 1.9:1 ratio, meaning you will get to see 26 percent more of the scene than what you’ll see in a regular cinema. We all know how Marvel loves to hide Easter eggs in all their films; that 26 percent can play a crucial role in the entire story of the Marvel universe. If you’re a Marvel fan, you can’t miss out on this.

2.       Asgard comes to life through IMAX’s vivid colors
If you’ve ever seen the imagery of Doctor Strange or the first instalment of Thor in IMAX, you’ll easily conclude that color plays a huge role in the movie. Through psychedelic trips in and out of different universes, there is no better way to watch Thor: Ragnarok than with IMAX’s digital enhancement process which delivers 60% more brightness and 40% greater contrast than what you’ll find anywhere else.

3.       Imagine the Hulk on IMAX’s giant screen
IMAX has a wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling, curved screen that fills even your peripheral vision with increased viewing angles up to an average of 70 degrees. Can you just imagine the epic gladiator scene between Thor and the Hulk on its enormous display?

4.        Hear the sonic boom of the Mjolnir with IMAX’s earth shattering sound
With a customized sound system that distributes sound throughout the theatre, you can hear the krak-a-thoom of the Mjolnir to the slightest pin drop and be able to tell exactly where it fell.

5.       IMAX’s 3D is out-of-this world
IMAX’s 3D projector delivers unsurpassed brightness and clarity. Coupled with the screen’s increased field of view, the results are images that jump off the screen and land right in your lap. Slide through time and space and live like a superhero in your most immersive experience yet.

Step into the movieverse and catch the god of thunder wtih the biggest movie screen in town. Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok hits IMAX theatres and SM Cinema branches nationwide on October 25. For tickets, log on to www.smcinema.com or follow @SM_Cinema on Instagram and /SMCinema on facebook for more details.

The Philippine Marketing Association invites you to the "Game of Marketing"

“When you play a game of thrones you win or you die. There is no middle ground.”
George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones

In the world of Marketing, the landscape is split into several kingdoms, and in each, a leader is at the helm. Which of the marketing houses do you belong to, what role should you play, and what’s the winning strategy?

, the team that brought you the successful Fifty Shades of Marketing in 2015, invites you to the first ever UnConference in Asia and the Philippines, Game of Marketing.

“I am proud to organize the first Asian UnConference, an unstructured marketing conference where topics are discussed, voted on, and decided before the conference officially starts. We are spicing up this UnConference by playing around with the most popular TV series, Game of Thrones, to which we aptly reapplied and called our conference "Game of Marketing". GOT fans would understand the many marketing learnings in the series, and we intend to bring that to life in this first of its kind UnConference. We have invited the best Asian speakers and facilitators for this first of its kind event. If you haven't attended an UnConference, or simply a GOT fan who is in marketing, you simply cannot miss this UnConference!” says Donald Lim, Country CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network Philippines, CPM Asia Pacific, and Over-all Chairman of the 48th PMA National Marketing Conference.

Kicking off the first day is a pair of masterclass Opening Keynote speakers; David Hearn, Regional Head of Strategy, dentsu X Asia Pacific and Hermawan Kartajaya, Co-Founder of Asia Marketing Federation, President of Indonesia Council for Small Business, and President of ACSB. Adding to this line up of Marketing Greats is Merlee Jayme, Chairmom/Chief Creative Officer of Dentsu Jayme Syfu who will introduce to you the Three Dragons of Creativity, Meng Liu, Head of Asia and Oceania Networks of United Nations Global Compact will discuss Making Global Goals Local Business. Donald Lim, Over-all Chairman of the 48th PMA National Marketing Conference, closes the UnConference as the Closing Keynote speaker.

Arlene Padua-Martinez, President of Philippine Marketing Association, CPM Asia shares her thoughts on the UnConference --- “Just when you think you have the THRONE (market leadership position), think again... in a V.U.C.A. world where other kingdoms fight for supremacy and control, certainty is very unpredictable. Creating passionate ADVOCATES amidst diversity is still the name of the game.”

“In the Game of Marketing, selfishness and greed may win some battles, but the war is always won by those who create meaningful engagements and solid relationships.”, added Mark Vincent Co, Executive Vice President of the Philippine Marketing Association, CPM Philippines.

So, what are you waiting for? Fight for the coveted throne, and claim your seat at this meeting of marketing minds. Leave the conference equipped to face the wild life of Marketing beyond the wall.

This UnConference is supported by our Media Partners’ Philippine Daily Inquirer, Business World, Philippine Star, Manila Bulletin, Manila Times, and WhenInManila.Com.

“Game of Marketing”, the 1st Asian Marketing UnConference will be held on November 27 & 28 at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza CCP Complex Roxas Blvd Brgy. 76, Pasay City.
