ChatGenie, a mini-app development startup company, introduces MSME Booster Program which aims to provide micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) six months of free online store on Messenger, Instagram, Viber, GCash, and other business tools.

ChatGenie wants to make e-commerce simple, easy, and convenient for both sellers and their customers. It provides online stores inside Facebook Messenger, Instagram, Viber, GCash, and other Super Apps with no commission fees to businesses and retail brands. Its features include end-to-end solutions from online ordering to online payments via partners like GCash, PayMaya, BPI, PayMongo, and Paynamics among others. Deliveries are fulfilled via partners like Grab Express and Lalamove.

“With the current situation where people stay home to stay safe, businesses have taken their sales strategies online. However, many small businesses don’t have the advantage of having a big team to handle their sales inquiries, inventories and deliveries. The ChatGenie model makes it easy to seal a deal. It saves sellers time and effort because they don’t need to process each order since it is automated,” says Ragde Falcis, Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technology Officer of ChatGenie.

Grow and go Pro

ChatGenie wants to help MSMEs achieve their full potential, which is why signing up in the Booster program is for free. It also comes with benefits such as exclusive guides and insights on emerging eCommerce trends and exclusive access to events like webinars and workshops with speakers from Facebook and PayMongo. Participants will also get free online payment processing fees for 2 months courtesy of PayMongo, zero disbursement fees from NextPay, and business-grade fiber for only Php90 for the first 90 days with free cancellation fees from PLDT Enterprise.

The company also offers the chance to get Facebook Ad credits via the Chat Plugin program for subscribers who have high-traffic sites and complimentary marketing support via features on the ChatGenie website and social media platforms.

For Filipino MSMEs who want to try the features of ChatGenie, they are offering a 3-month ChatGenie Pro subscription for free. Subscription benefits include being able to access sales through Facebook Messenger, Instagram, Viber and the GCash Sales Channel, where they can upload up to 1,000 products on their store.

The free 3-month Pro subscription can be extended up to three more months if they are able to achieve 300 orders through the program. This subscription also comes with exclusive freebies and discounts from program partners such as, access to unlimited report downloads, advance orders for QSR and Food Retail, location-based pricing and customer message field on Product Page, and Pro-level Technical Support. Registration is up to November 30, 2021 and is limited to the first 100 MSMEs.

Mercato, BlueCoffee, and Dinosaurs Island are few of the MSMEs who have already successfully boarded the program. To register on the program, go to https://chatgenie.ph/accelerator/.

Alfamart expands GCash payment coverage to all stores

The ease-of-access to cashless payment methods, and the contactless culture brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, has made cashless transactions pretty much the norm. In response to this shift in customer behavior, Alfamart, the first and only Super Minimart chain in the Philippines, will be accepting GCash for all its stores by the end of August.
Currently, there are over 20 million registered GCash users in the Philippines and it is continually growing because some cities used the cashless portal to give aid to those affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

According to Alfamart COO Harvey Ong, expanding the acceptance of GCash payments to other branches is in line with Alfamart’s goal of making shopping convenient and safe for all its customers. “In a post-pandemic society, there is more need for contactless payment options,” Ong said. “We hope to encourage the communities that we serve to use and get used to these cashless options to minimize the need for paper money and coins to exchange hands and limiting physical contact.” Ong further explained.

To date, there are close to 900 Alfamart stores serving Central Luzon, Metro Manila, and South Luzon. Each store is strategically located to cover subdivisions, neighborhoods, and communities so people will have a safe, comfortable, and convenient place to get their everyday needs at supermarket prices.

More than just money: Sending love across the miles

When thinking of traits that best describe Filipinos, the words “generous,” “kind,” or “giving,” among others, often come to mind.

True enough, the Filipino spirit of thoughtfulness is heavily ingrained in our culture that we even created traditions such as pasalubong or the act of bringing back home even the smallest tokens for loved ones and friends. Celebrations such as birthdays, anniversaries and any holiday imaginable get us excited because they signal another opportunity to give gifts to each other.

Such generosity is just one manifestation of how our culture values close ties with family and loved ones. It comes as no surprise that wherever we go, we always think of ways to make those back home feel loved and remembered.

These days, the act of sending money—be it repaying a friend, giving a cash gift to a loved one or even just sending your child’s daily allowance—has been made even more personal and memorable. GCash, the country’s leading mobile wallet, takes the monotony out of an everyday task such as sending money with innovative and creative Send Money options on the app.

Users can now send money with a more personalized touch with the added options to attach photos, videos or audio messages through the Send with a Clip feature. Especially for those sending money from miles away, the addition of a photo or short video makes the act more heartwarming and exciting on the receiving end.

To celebrate special occasions such as weddings, birthdays and Lunar New Year, GCash has also added an Ang Pao Send Money feature. Users can send their best wishes to relatives and friends along with a cash gift enclosed in a virtual version of the classic red envelope.

Sometimes, thoughtfulness also comes with keeping the welfare and convenience of the receiver in mind. The Express Send option on GCash is a quick, easy and fuss-free way to instantly send money to someone in dire need. The Send to Bank feature also credits the amount directly to the recipient’s bank account, enabling immediate withdrawal or use.

The great news is that GCash customers are able to enjoy these features free of charge—instantaneously and with the same ease as other GCash financial transactions and features.

Through such thoughtful innovations, Filipinos all over the country and in other places abroad who may be separated by miles can be brought together in celebrating small milestones through the power of their mobile phones and e-wallets.

GCash, being the leader in the mobile wallet segment, aims to continuously innovate and improve the user experience through these value-added services and features.

Globe signs MOA with Mayor Isko to deploy GoWiFi and to empower scholars with GCash

This is good news to all those who studies and work at these institution in Manila. GOWIFI will soon be available in Manila City Hall, Ospital ng Maynila, Tondo Medical Center, Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center, Tondo National High School, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila and Universidad de Manila.

Globe has collaborated with the City of Manila to spearhead the digital transformation of the country’s capital by providing fast and reliable internet connectivity in key areas with GoWifi and delivering financial technology services to the city’s scholars with GCash.

Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu and Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to make GoWiFi available in Manila.

The MOA also covers the use of GCash  as the official financial services platform to send allowances and other monetary benefits to about 15,000 scholars under the Office of the Manila City Mayor. Students will receive a corresponding GCash Mastercard to withdraw their cash allowance, and will also serve as their official identification card as a bonafide scholarship beneficiary of the city.

Cu said that the collaboration with the City of Manila is a first step in contributing to the city’s digital transformation initiatives. “Providing free WiFi services via GoWiFi and bringing financial inclusivity via GCash are just the initial undertakings from our end to contribute to the digitalization efforts of the city. Our goal is to provide the entire digital ecosystem of Globe for Manilenos to enjoy their digital lifestyle,” he revealed.

Cu also signified intention to improve the Globe network in the city to enable its digitalization. “We need to build additional 100 wireless sites to improve the signal in Manila,” Cu said.

Globe also has several ongoing corporate social responsibility initiatives as part of its sustainability program directly benefited Mañilenos, such as the Globe Plastic Xchange program held in Brgy. 455 last September 14 where single use plastics were collected in exchange for rewards points, turnover of information and communication technologies equipment and a computer lab to Manila Science High School, roll-out of Globe's Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP) to Manila Science High School students in 2016 to teach them responsible use of the internet and which will be adopted in the curriculum of the Department of Education for all public schools including those in Manila City, and Globe's participation in the Manila Bay coastal clean-up with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources this September 21.

GoWiFi continues its expansion plans nationwide, particularly in high-traffic areas like malls, hospitals, and schools to make high-quality internet connection accessible and affordable to more Filipinos. As of the first half of the year, GoWiFi is accessible in 2,500 sites nationwide, up by 500 sites from the previous year.

To date, GCash has made financial transactions easier for its 20 million registered users. And with over 70,000 partner merchants in the country, it truly has helped revolutionize the way Filipinos transact.

Got ID? Send money for free with GCash

We use identification cards or IDs in practically all aspects of our transactions, whether it’s government or private. It is as important as having cash, ATM cards or credit cards in our wallets.

In the Philippines, a valid ID is required when we open a bank account, apply for credit cards, apply for telephone or mobile phone lines, get our own meter for power and water, claim a package from the Post Office, or receive our orders from online shopping—all in the name of verification. Everyone asks for an ID.

One of the best uses of your valid ID is to get fully verified with GCash so you can send money to anyone, anytime for FREE. GCash has more than 30 partner banks, many of which are already charging fees for money transfers. With GCash, sending money is still free, and it’s just as safe and fast as online apps. This is my favorite feature of GCash because it’s so convenient, and frankly, I don’t want to pay any charges for money transfers.

Of course, you have to make sure you have enough funds in your mobile wallet to send money, and you can do this by cashing in. You can move money online from your bank to your GCash wallet if you’re a fully verified user. If you’re transferring money to GCash from an international account, you may choose from one of the remittance options like Western Union, AlipayHK or Moneygram. For over-the-counter cash-in, it’s as easy. There are more than 15,000 partner outlets that will accept transfers to your GCash account; choose just one.

Cashing out is also easy. Use any of the 20,000 ATMs across the country using your GCash Mastercard. You can also access the country’s first fully mobile credit line through GCredit, earn high intertest on saving through GSave, access investments options through Invest Money or insurance through GCash Insure.

So if you’re planning to access all the features of GCash, which I always recommend to my friends and family, first make sure you have a fully verified account. All you have to do is download the latest version of GCash app from Apple or Google store. Then click any of the access points through Send Money, Cash-In via PayPal or debit card, GCredit or Invest Money. Ready your government-issued ID and follow the instructions, after which you will receive a confirmation message.

Wait 48 hours for verification and voila! You’re now ready to enjoy the full GCash experience!

Mobile payments solutions are a blessing to us consumers, we can now pay our bills at the comfort of our home without going and spending an hour to your bank.

You can do your transaction right in your mobile devices.

That’s exactly what your smartphone is—the solution to a lot of things that are probably wasting your time—things like queueing for over an hour at the bank so you could deposit money or pay your bills. See, if you have GCash and know how to use its money transfer features, you can make your smartphone do the bank errands for you.

But first, cash in.

There are various ways of cashing in or moving money to your GCash account, so that the next time you need money for anything, you have it right at your fingertips.

You can cash in from local and international accounts. These cash-in channels are all convenient, easily accessible, and mostly free.

Here’s how:

Open your GCash app and select Cash in.

Choose from over-the-counter methods or online banking methods, which can also be found under Bank Transfer.

If you are transferring money to GCash from an international account, choose from one of the remittance options.

GCash has partnered with money transfer channels such as Western Union, Moneygram and AlipayHK, which are popular among overseas Filipino workers.

If you choose over-the-counter cash-in, GCash has 15,000 partner outlets that will accept transfers to your GCash account. Choose one.

If you prefer to do online banking, there are 36 banks that will allow you to link your bank account with GCash so you can move your money from your bank to your GCash app. Make sure you check if your bank charges fees for such transfers.

As of July 2019, the cash-in limit is P50,000 per day, but that should be enough to cover most daily transactions.

Now that you have money in your GCash, what exactly can you do with it? A lot.

GCash lets you send money anytime, anywhere and for FREE to its 40 partner banks account. You can also send money to relatives across the country through numerous remittance partners such as Palawan Express, LBC, and Bayad Center.

You can pay your bills with GCash. That electric bill due soon? Easy, just use Pay Bills in your GCash app. Thinking of finally buying that gorgeous bag from the Instagram seller you’ve been stalking for months? Do it, and send payment securely to the seller’s account. Prefer to save up for a rainy day? Transfer money to your GSave account and pat yourself on the back for being a responsible adult.

There are countless things you can do with the money in your GCash account—but none of them would require you to stand in line inside a bank and waste precious hours. That alone is worth the cash-in.

Spreading the goodness and generosity with GCash for Good

There’s a saying that “Charity begins at home” and now you can help our fellow Filipinos in need through your chosen charity without even leaving your home.

GLOBE Fintech Innovations Inc. (Mynt), the operating company behind GCash, is helping nongovernment organizations (NGO) with the launch of its corporate social responsibility arm called “GCash for Good.”

The launch held Friday at the One Canvass Events place in Makati City, further develops the GCash app into a more socially relevant and sustainable platform that will help address issues across different levels of society.

With GCash for Good , GCash users can use the GCash app to donate to various groups to create an impact on society. This allows GCash to be a more inclusive and open platform that will help create better opportunities for millions of Filipinos.

Thanks to its scale, with more than 20 million users and innovative digital platform, GCash is well-equipped to become a springboard for donations to non-government organizations (NGOs) that champion various advocacies.

‘We have always strived to build a better financial ecosystem in the Philippines, and as a socially responsible corporate citizen, we want to leverage on our strength as a digital platform to help others create a better country moving forward,” Mynt president Anthony Thomas said.

At the sidelines, Mynt VP for Corporate Communications Reyner Villasenor told media that they expect the number of NGOs under the GCash for Good program to be around 100 by the end of this year as the program aims to make it easier for NGOs to receive donations.

“[Around] a hundred. I won’t discriminate if they are qualified but I will also have to manage expectations because we are not just a payments platform; if you sign up with us, we will campaign with you,” Villasenor said.

He also assured that all these NGO’s will be screened so that each organization that will receive their own QR code will be legit and that all donations will be received by their beneficiaries.

Currently, the GCash for Good program includes 35 NGOs, all of which have completed their documentation requirements both from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and Mynt before the program was launched.

We don’t discriminate, whether you are a big or small NGO. Today, what we are launching is the coalition of the willing. These are the 35 NGOs who responded to our call of giving . . . What we are trying to do here is to leverage on the platform and make sure that giving will be easy for users,” he said.

“We are okay to sign up more partners as we go. Late last night, I got about 20 [more NGOs] that want to join the program…They can be part of the next phases,” he told reporters.

Platform for generosity
GCash is mindful that people now prefer to donate online, as this removes the hassle of having to go through long queues and processes, and gives them more time to focus on their daily lives.

According to a study by Global Trends in Giving, 54 percent of individuals prefer to donate online, while the total volume of donations made online grew by a strong 12.1 percent in 2017

Along with this, various research shows a growing trend in micro-donations and crowdfunding with sites like Patreon and Koti gaining massive support. According to Tech's Good, microdonations range between $0.25 and $10. This kind of donations, albeit small at a time. can make a huge difference once added up.

With innovative mobile money technology like GCash, people who want to do good are now empowered with a more efficient experience.

GCash for Good aims to create a community where doing good and giving back is open to all. Any amount will create huge opportunities for organizations that forward different issues. With GCash for Good, users will also have direct access to where their donations go. It showcases a more transparent and user-friendly interface for anyone to access.

‘Our purpose for creating GCash for Good lies in our ardent desire to encourage generosity among Filipinos. We want to create more opportunities to allow people to give to and give back to the communities.” Thomas said.

Platform for the green agenda
For its initial launch, GCash for Good has partnered with Bantay Kalikasan, Haribon Foundation, World Wildlife Fund for Nature, and the Forest Foundation Philippines.

Through its e-money platform GCash. Mynt aims to develop financial sustainability mechanisms that would strengthen biodiversity conservation efforts for these partner organizations. It also plans to proactively join campaigns that call for a ban on waste imports. deforestation, and waste incineration.

Together with these organizations. GCash is pushing for a greener Philippines, recognizing the huge impact that the environment has in the daily lives of Filipinos.

“We have a shared vision of creating a lasting, long-term positive impact on the environment. With joined hands. we promise to be strong government partners in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations.” Thomas said.

GCash for Good is talking to other NGOs to push other pressing issues into the limelight with the hopes of generating more support for the fight for a better Philippines.

Platform for volunteerism
Aside from this. GCash for Good aims to create a space for Mynt employees to practice their advocacies and become partners for the change that it envisions.

“We want to be able to make a difference, and we recognize that doing good is not a one-man job. We believe that we should be working together for the better. With GCash for Good. we're making change accessible and easier for everyone,” Thomas said.

MoneyGram partners with GCash to offer consumers more digital money transfer options

Earlier this month, MoneyGram announced its partnership with GCash, the mobile wallet and micropayment arm of Mynt, in a move that promises to further improve financial inclusion in the Philippines.

Through the new united system, thousands of GCash users can now receive money from over 200 countries and territories on their mobile wallet and use the funds instantly for purchasing goods and services online.

Convenience and ease at your fingertips

Between over 30 million active smartphone users and the growing Internet penetration in the Philippines, the collaboration between GCash and MoneyGram is a powerful strategy that aligns with MoneyGram's goal to offer consumers more digital money transfer options.

The MoneyGram services are especially beneficial for OFWs and their families, providing a convenient way to send remittances from all over the world.

According to POEA 2017 data, there are 12 million OFWs spread around the world, many of whom send a significant portion of their salary to their families back home. The partnership with GCash eliminates the need for family members receiving this money to go to a MoneyGram location. They can directly receive any amount on their mobile wallet. What’s more, the money they receive is readily available for purchasing goods and services online.

Of course, the service could be used literally by anyone – it’s easy, user-friendly and convenient. Directly impacted, however, are of course GCash users – around 1 million active users- providing a convenient solution for the users who live in remote areas and those who don’t have an easy access to the financial system. MoneyGram’s services allow them to receive money directly to their mobile wallet and use it immediately to pay for goods and services - can buy load, pay bills, scan-to-pay using QR codes at the mall and much more.

No hidden charges or extra steps

Yogesh Sangle, Head of Asia Pacific, Middle East and South Asia, explains that MoneyGram’s goal of equitable financial inclusion envisions a world where financial services are not only accessible, but also free or available at minimum cost. “Aside from convenience, MoneyGram ensures that there is no additional charge to use the service, although a standard charge applies for the transfer of money out of a user’s GCash wallet,” he supplies.

Providing customers with utmost convenience has always been one of MoneyGram's thrust for its customers. And with the new partnership, it further reinforces its promise by providing customers access to their remittances, anytime, anywhere. All they need is a simple touch of a button on their GCash app.

After completing the KYC process via GCash app, a customer can receive money directly on the mobile wallet. This is additional, convenient channel for the customers in the Philippines to receive money their way.

Sangle also emphasizes that MoneyGram’s global reach, consisting of over 350,000 agent locations in over 200 countries and territories, provides the groundwork for this easily accessible and reliable service.

“Apart from sending money in person, customers can transfer funds to their families and friends online (from the U.S., the UK, Germany, France and Spain). In most of destinations with significant Filipino communities, they can also use an ATM or self-service kiosk to perform a transaction (such as 7-Eleven stores in Australia). MoneyGram also provides the added value of compliance, having invested in a world-class compliance platform and the services of talented experts to strengthen the integrity of their services and enhance the security of customer transactions.”

Also, Anthony Thomas, Chief Executive Officer of MYNT quipped, "We’re excited about our strategic partnership with MoneyGram. Now GCash customers can enjoy the convenience of receiving money from their families abroad directly into their GCash mobile wallet. With these funds they can buy load, pay bills, scan-to-pay using QR codes at the mall and much more. Plus, customers can enjoy exclusive incentives the more funds they receive in their GCash wallet.”

GCash ScanToPay now available at SM Store

Christmas shopping is in full swing and that means the lines at the ATM machines are probably just as long as the queues for the MRT.

But you dont have to worry about that now, as long as you have the GCash App installed on your mobile phone.

After boosting its partnership with the Ayala Malls last month, Globe GCash is now partnering with the SM Store which means you can simply shop and ScanToPay at all SM Stores nationwide and at the information booths of SM malls.

This development makes it more convenient for customers to do their shopping, especially this holiday season as shoppers can already easily pay for their purchases without the need to bring cash.

Using GCash scan to pay method is like a walk in the park. A customer with a smartphone only needs to either download or update to the latest version of the GCash App, create an account and fund the GCash wallet through cash-in centers located across the country. Once done, the customer just has to tap on Scan QR and point the phone’s camera at the item’s QR code to pay.

The SM  Store is the latest addition in a growing list of merchants which have embraced the GCash App scan to pay feature. Among the early adopters are Mercato Centrale in Bonifacio Global City and Ayala Malls, particularly Glorietta.

Anthony Thomas, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mynt, the financial technology company owned by Globe Telecom, Ant Financial, and Ayala Corp., said they have already begun the rollout of the QR code acceptance.

“We’re not installing a device but just a sticker with a QR code. The customer simply scans that sticker so no need for additional machines for transactions and there’s no cost to the machine but more benefits to the merchants. Cash is still convenient but there’s also the issue of security and handling. With GCash scan to pay feature, we’re bringing that down to the level where merchants can adapt,” Thomas explained.

With the addition of The SM Store, the use of the GCash scan to pay feature continues to gain support among the top malls and merchants in the country.

Other well-known merchants currently using the feature are the Max’s Group of restaurants, apparel brand Bench, and international brands specialty retailer Stores Specialists, Inc. (SSI). Smaller sellers located at celebrity bazaar destination Noel Bazaar and in Mercato have also adopted this new cashless payment option.

Over the next few months, GCash will continue to aggressively roll out the use of the scan to pay feature in other locations nationwide to encourage more people to use it and enjoy its benefits.
