UNIQLO Taps Alexa Ilacad to Redefine Comfort and Confidence with the Bra Top Collection

Together with celebrity host Bianca Gonzales-Intal and stylist Kat Cruz-Villanueva, the UNIQLO Bra Top empowers women with confidence through seamless comfort and built-in support.

UNIQLO today welcomed actress and singer Alexa Ilacad as its newest Local Celebrity Partner representing the brand’s Bra Top lineup. The actress was introduced during an exclusive panel discussion alongside Bianca Gonzales-Intal and celebrity stylist Kat Cruz-Villanueva where they shined a light on the different kinds of support that today’s modern, multi-hyphenate women give and receive, rooted in the effortless, built-in support of UNIQLO Bra Tops.

UNIQLO showcased how the Bra Top lets modern women support every side of themselves, anchored on an insightful exchange between Alexa, Bianca, and Kat on inclusive styling and stories of self-expression and the struggles that come along with it.

Inspired by the grace and strength of women, the event brought everyone together to celebrate one another—sharing stories from different perspectives and highlighting Bra Top pieces designed to support every woman in her everyday endeavors.

“Especially growing up in front of the camera as a former child actress, I was very conscious about my looks,” Alexa said. “People tend to compare and pit you against your peers and sometimes you can’t help but do the same. It’s an ongoing battle but time gives you strength and wisdom to handle things better.”

“When I was starting, I also had my struggles in finding my space in this industry,” Kat said. “My approach is to put in the effort and let my work speak for itself. When you’ve given your all, learned from your mistakes, you can be confident. When you know who you are, you can express yourself.”

Bianca then asked the importance of having someone, something in the face of these challenges, from getting encouragement with core groups to having clothes designed to provide effortless support.

“With our hectic schedule, we have to move fast so it does help when you have to wear something that’s easy to put on. Now, if this clothing also makes you feel good and not just look good then that’s a huge difference, and I have experienced this with UNIQLO Bra Top,” Alexa said. “When I put it on, I get to just focus on my work because I know my body is secure and I feel comfortable.”

Kat said that having something so reliable makes her work as a stylist much easier. “When I am wearing it, I don’t calculate my moves. I feel free,” she said. “It’s also very easy to mix and match. So, when I have some styling gigs, I always include the Bra Tops because they look good and models love them.”

This season, UNIQLO Bra Top champions body positivity and everyday versatility that delivers comfort and all-day confidence. “Offering you comfort and versatility, Bra Top is a timeless piece regardless of the season. It’s a piece of clothing that’s not only iconic in its own sense, but also an essential that effortlessly provides you confidence and style” said UNIQLO Philippines Marketing Director Jan Jizelle Ang.

The Ribbed Cropped Bra Top, for one, is made from casual contouring ribbed fabric that complements every body type, while offering 360° chest support for a secure and flattering fit. Another knitted option perfect for the season is the Washable Knit Bra Top, which was Bianca’s choice for the event. It's machine-washable for easy care and, while sleeveless, bra straps won't show through as it also styles well on its own. There are several AIRism options as well, including the AIRism Bra Sleeveless Top and the AIRism Bra Camisole that feature stay-fresh comfort. Both are designed without an under-band at the back for a sleek, comfortable look.

Extending the conversation beyond the event, the insightful discussion between Bianca, Alexa, and Kat on confidence, comfort, and self-expression will also be featured on Bianca Gonzale’s Paano Ba ‘To? podcast. The full conversation will be available on Facebook by the end of October and on Spotify by November, inviting listeners to reflect on their own journeys and be reminded to always feel supported—wherever they are—with the UNIQLO Bra Top.

Teen Star Alexa Ilacad is BUM’S Newest Endorser

Fashion can be a form of self-expression and a representation of one’s personality, more so for today’s teens who are brimming with youthful enthusiasm and are in the process of discovering themselves. A clothing brand known for catering to the young segment of fashionistas, BUM keeps up with their market’s ever-evolving tastes and preferences not only by launching trendy casual garbs but by also providing them with new role models and style icons they can take cues from.

BUM has always been the brand of choice of both up-and-coming and most sought-after teen celebrities, like ABS-CBN’s Nash Aguas, Ella Cruz and Jane Oineza, and GMA-7’s Bianca Umali and Miguel Tanfelix (who are collectively known as the “Black Army”).But just when you thought this in-demand style squad cannot get any better, BUM has tapped another well-loved young star, who embody the vitality and versatility of the brand.

Last May 28, Goin’ Bulilit alum and Luv U mainstay Alexa Ilacad was launched as BUM’s latest celebrity endorser in a fun-filled event held at the Sequoia Hotel in Quezon City. This 15-year-old fashionista proves to be a perfect fit for the brand because she’s the adventurous type whose style can go from girly-girl to hip and rugged.

“Super happy ako to be a BUM endorserkasi I can show my versatility through BUM. Sobrangastig ng mgadamitnila. Kahitlagiakongpa-girly in colorful and bright outfits, favorite ko din ’yung dark colors kasimahiligakosarock eh;minsannga feeling korakistaako eh! With the clothes from BUM, I can enjoy and show the best of both worlds,” Alexa says.

That said, her favorite #OOTD-worthy BUM pieces likewise vary from the colorful girly dresses to the rocker-chic hoodies and skull-print tees to the comfy and stretchable jeans—all useful in the various roles she plays as an actress, student and normal teenager.

Alexa’s first campaign shoot with BUM is for the “Black2School” collection, wherein she got to work with the brand’s other ambassadors, which include Nash, her onscreen partnerand the other half of “NLex” love team.

Since it was her first time to shoot an edgy and fierce campaign, Alexa shared that Nash helped calm her nerves as he tried to make the shoot feel lighter and more fun for her. She shares, “Masaya mag-work ’pag meron kang ka-close. Si Nash, nakatulong talaga siya sa akin sa shoot kasi naging mas masaya ang first shoot ko with BUM.”

With the recent success of Nash and Alexa’s last TV show, Bagito, the NLex love team (which started in Goin' Bulilit) has gained more fans, who cannot wait until the two’s next project. In the meantime, fans can look forward to the couple tees soon to be launched by BUM, whose campaign will star this cute duo.A sneak peek of the collection of cute his-and-hers matching tops by BUM, with cool rib cage, skull and graphic prints, was seen in the brand's last "Black2School" collection; the campaign showed Nashgarbed ina blue roundneck statement tee that says "I Stole Her Heart" and Alexa clad in a matching pink round neck statement tee whose print reads "So I am Stealing His Heart."

It hasn’t been long since Alexa did her first BUM campaign shoot, and now she’s already looking forward to the next. While that is in the works, Alexa has taken it upon herself to give her fellow young girls a bunch of style inspirations by posting occasional #OOTDs on her Instagram account (which currently has about 272,000 followers). “Ang dami ko na ngang #OOTD na naka-BUM. Excited na ako i-post,” she quips. Now, girls, that’s something worth double tapping! BUM’s “Black2School” is available at BUM boutiques and leading department stores nationwide.
