Home Credit Philippines partners with ILO Esports for a gathering of e-games

Home Credit continues its commitment to empowering Filipino gamers and bringing the power closer to Ilonggos

Home Credit Philippines (HCPH), the country’s leading consumer finance company, partnered with ILO Esports, the only government-backed esports organization in the Philippines, for the United Iloilo Convention (UNICON 2022) – a gathering of e-games, toys, and cosplay enthusiasts in Western Visayas from October 29 to 30, 2022 at the SM City Iloilo Cyberzone.

UNICON 2022 featured a wide range of activities, including a toy convention, cosplay showcase, and e-games competition. Home Credit also set up an immersive and experiential where Ilonggos got to test top-of-the-line gadgets, played e-games with a live feed of the games on a massive LED screen, and tried out an augmented reality filter on Instagram.

Anchored on its #PlayLikeAPro campaign, Home Credit was able to showcase the best gaming smartphones, computers, and laptops, which can be purchased through its partner merchants in Iloilo City, such as Gadget Headz and Concept Computer Store.

“We at Home Credit wanted to bring home the power to Ilonggos for UNICON 2022 as part of our thrust to grow and nurture our communities across the Philippines. Esports has become a big community, and a big chunk of our customers get their smartphones and laptops through Home Credit, not only for online schooling or work but likewise for gaming,” shared Home Credit Philippines’ PR Manager, Russel Patina.

The UNICON 2022 was a weekend-long event that brought together the esports fever, with activities such as art and magic exhibits and video game duels like Tekken. A Yu-Gi-Oh! event, a cosplay parade, and a tournament took place during the second day of the event.

“I would like to thank Home Credit for helping us organize this year’s UNICON. We wish and we aim that through this event, we’re able to unite the Ilonggos through games, cosplay, and collections,” shared ILO Esports’ Found and CEO, Jamar Montehermoso.

With its growing popularity, esports has become one of the most talked-about topics in the country. What was once a niche hobby has now evolved into a major sporting event, with pro teams being organized and sent out to represent the country in international competitions.

SEA Games athlete and digital content creator, Angel Danica Lozada, joined the fun in UNICON and hoped to fuel the esports victory amongst the Ilonggo youth

Angel Danica Lozada, aka Angelailaila, a League of Legends: Wild Rift player and former SEA Games representative, expressed her appreciation to Home Credit for holding the event and paving the way for gaming athletes and enthusiasts, as well as for promoting esports to the Ilonggo community.

“Through Home Credit and ILO Esports, I hope that more and more Filipino youth and Ilonggos will be encouraged to play and build an empowering esports community with us here in the Philippines. Like Home Credit, let’s bring the power and play like a pro,” shared Lozada.

Moira dela Torre is the official ambassador for Home Credit's "Para sa Life" campaign

Home Credit Philippines (HCPH), the country’s leading consumer finance company, introduced singer-songwriter Moira dela Torre as the brand’s ambassador for its “Para sa Life” campaign that aims to share a message of hope for a better life for Filipinos.

Moira, the most-streamed Filipina artist for bigness, performed the theme song “Para Sa Life” of Home Credit campaign video.

“I loved it. It was so special to me,” Moira said, pertaining to the song.  “I’m glad that Home Credit gives me the opportunity to be their ambassador so I can give voice to that wonderful song to inspire more Filipinos,” she added.

The singer-songwriter behind the hit songs “Malaya,” “Tagpuan,” and many more believes that Home Credit’s new campaign can touch the hearts of millions of Filipinos.

“I really love that Home Credit allows us to have somebody to rely on. Back in college, I really wanted to buy a microwave for myself since I was living alone. But I knew that it was impossible for me to get one since I couldn’t afford it in cash,” Moira said laughing.

“Now, I love that Home Credit provides us the accessibility to purchase the things we need in life while giving us the flexibility in our payment terms. And I’m happy that someone out there, who I once was like, can now buy their microwave because of Home Credit,” Moira added.

This campaign of Home Credit aims to inspire more Filipinos, be it the young professionals, couples starting a family, and those who have already established their lives — to pursue their life’s dreams, Para sa Life.

Bringing Home Credit Closer, Relatable to Filipinos

Sheila Paul, HCPH’s Chief Marketing Officer, expressed her delight in the song being an inspiration to individuals who aspire financial stability.

“This new song of Home Credit encapsulates the brand’s promise of companionship through the use of our easily accessible and affordable financial products for our Filipino consumers. Also, the song relays that Home Credit is ideal for young families and starting individuals who aspire to establish their lifelong plans and helping them turn small dreams into reality,” she shared.

Homonym, an agency specializing in sonic branding and end-to-end music and audio marketing solutions, helped Home Credit’s “Para sa Life” campaign with an effective combination of sight and sounds.

“Marketing strategies have turned to visual messaging these past two years and now, marketers are on the lookout to explore other senses that can work. This is where Sonic Branding comes in. It is a strategic, purposeful and consistent use of sound and music in branding and marketing to shape perception and behavior,” said Homonym founder and chief executive Mike Constantino.

By using studies that provide insight into the music habits of Filipino consumers, Homonym was able to determine Home Credit’s brand essence and fine-tuned it with the preferences of the target market to produce a melody that portrays a positive vibe and the feeling of trust and respect.

“Sight targets the brain while sound targets emotions thus eliciting feelings. By creating that emotional connection with the brand’s own signature sound, it will create a long-lasting effect on the target audience and increase familiarity with the brand,” he added.

Paul believed that tapping Homonym in the campaign made Filipinos relate to the message Home Credit wanted to convey.

“As a reliable financial partner of Filipinos, Home Credit has a greater mission of helping its consumers better manage their finances and promote financial inclusion. With music as a huge part of our lives, we at Home Credit saw the value of building our sonic identity and communicating our messages through music to make more people relate to the message of hope and trust that we are trying to convey,” said Paul.

Home Credit supports PH esports team SIBOL

Home Credit Philippines (HCPH), the country’s leading consumer finance provider, declares its support for the bemedaled national team for esports, SIBOL, in the upcoming Southeast Asian Games to be held in Hanoi, Vietnam from May 13 to 22, 2022

Committed to empowering every Filipino and filling the gaps to enrich their lives, HCPH hopes this initiative will also further highlight the positive opportunities for esports in the country and encourage and hone the skills of young Filipinos in this area.

SIBOL, which debuted in 2019, dominated the SEA Games esports categories that year in Mobile Legends, DOTA 2 and Hearthstone, and secured silver and bronze in Tekken 7 for the Philippines. These achievements not only signify the rise of esports across the globe but also showcase Filipino talent and skill in the esports arena.

Home Credit Philippines supports Team Sibol who will be representing the Philippines for the 2022 SEA Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.

“Home Credit aims to help Filipinos achieve their goals in life. By taking part in SIBOL’s journey and supporting each member of the team, we hope to also encourage other Filipinos, the youth in particular, and remind them that they can reach their goals and ambitions, especially if they have the support they need,” shares HCPH Chief Marketing Officer Sheila Paul.

“We are honored to take part in SIBOL’s endeavor to bring pride to our country and recognize Filipino talent in esports. Home Credit finds value in supporting a budding category in the sports area as we understand the importance of having a dependable and reliable ally in reaching one’s goals,” says Ken Lerona, HCPH head of Public Relations.

This year’s SEA Games will have 10 esports events: Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Arena of Valor, FIFA Online 4, League of Legends, League of Legends: Wild Rift men’s and women’s, CrossFire, PUBG Mobile individual and team, and Garena Free Fire.

“With overwhelming support from Home Credit, we will work hard to bring home more gold for the Philippines. Despite many challenges and with some of the games not yet as big nor supported in our country, we remain steadfast in our goals and will give it our 100 percent to be champions for the Filipino people,” says Team SIBOL President Brian Lim.

The first batch of the 64-strong SIBOL team is expected to fly to Hanoi on May 9. Vietnam is considered the closest competitor to the Philippines in the esports area, but SIBOL hopes to keep the overall title again and bring honor to the country for the second time.
