Feeling overwhelmed and stressed out? Here's why you need some #MeTime

While browsing through my feed the other day, I came across an article that says that our 50’s will be the unhappiest time of our lives.

It scared me. Just when I thought I’ve found happiness, here’s something that’s telling me that I should enjoy it while I can.

I’ll be another year older in a couple of weeks so I was a bit affected by this study that’s telling me that I might be facing some really unhappy years ahead of me.

Its all about the “U-shaped” happiness life curve, the article said. Life starts out great, gets worse some time in your late 40s and early 50s, then gets better again.

So why are our 50s the low point? Its supposed to be the beginning of our golden years right and gold certainly puts a smile on anyone’s face.

For one, the researchers point out that middle-aged people are often at the peak of their careers, which causes a great deal of stress. Alternatively, people are at the point where they feel like they should be at the peak of their career and they’re not even close. Also, by your 40s and 50s parents have children coming of age to worry about. It seems the oft-joked-about “midlife crisis” is a reaction to a very real low point.

So I thought about it, and I honestly think it depends on how you’ve been living your life.

For me my 40s was the most difficult time. My kids were all in college and each of them had their own issues, which was normal, but if you have 3 college kids, you know what I mean.

Managing the household, coping with some financial challenges and trying to start a career in a new field wasn’t easy. I worked in a hospital for almost 16 years before I tried working in a few BPO companies.

I quit my job, and somehow I ended up blogging, which was a turning point for me.

That was 5 years ago.

When I was starting out I would attend almost 2 to 3 events a day a week, depending on invites. I felt excited again.

Blogging had rekindled my passion for writing and I found happiness whenever I would get invites to events. But as the years went on, I realized I was becoming even more busy than when I had a full time job.

I still love what I do but I think my age is starting to catch up. Sobrang pagoda na. There are times in life when it all just feels like too much.

That was the time I realized I also needed time for myself.

That's why, I always set aside time for weekends. To see my kids and grandkids and try to visit a spa for a mani/pedi or even a relaxing massage.

When you are a mom, we often feel that taking time out for ourselves is selfish. We have been taught that we must work hard to deserve health and happiness to prioritize our kids and our families. That kind of thinking puts pressure on ourselves to be perfect.

And that is exactly why we need some time alone for ourselves time to rest and make ourselves feel and look great once again.

Now before I go home, I always drop by Watsons whenever I can to replenish my vitamins. Right now, I just discovered that they are selling Cosmoskin GSE. I take it before I go to bed to prepare for another day. It helps me relax and it brightens my skin too. I noticed that it helps with dark spots.

I recently attended Watsons PH #MeTime campaign last Aug 16 at SM Aura, Taguig. The event was attended by Ms Shamcey Supsup Lee, Influencers Vern and Verniece Enciso,  Raiza Contawi,  Celebrities Kris Bernal, Thea Tolentino and others.

I have tried the Ponds booth with Skin Advisor App. You have to take your picture and the app will determine how old you are through your skin analysis. It read 36! Yey! Lakas maka good vibes.

Take some #MeTime to swipe on some lipstick or paint your nails!  Watsons’ extensive collection of cosmetics from Celeteque, Belle, and Chic Bobbie will get you gorgeous in no time.

Nourish from within
There’s no other way to put it: To be truly beautiful, you need to be healthy.  That’s why your #MeTime must also include taking care of yourself from within with Watsons’ range of supplements and health products from Enervon, Cosmo Skin, Poten-cee, MX3, and Salonpas.

Busy is the enemy of Health and Beauty
Are you too busy to be beautifully healthy? All it takes is a trip to Watsons to curate a set of health and beauty revitalizers and treat yourself to some well-deserved #MeTime! Plus, if you’re an SM Advantage Card holder and purchase at least P500 worth of products, you can even win an iPhone X while you’re at it!

Indeed, with Watsons, #MeTime is not only essential.  It is rewarding.

Less stress. More self-love.
At the end of the day, making time for #MeTime is all about stressing less and loving your beauty, health, and wellness more.  At a time when everyone is busy with bucket lists and to-do lists, don’t forget to make time for that one person who deserves all the extra TLC you pour out to everybody else: Yourself!

After all, when you love yourself, you can love others more. And when you do, you don’t only look good, but you also feel great!

Be part of Tagaytay Highlands and create lasting memories with families, friends, and fellow sports enthusiasts

How would you like to live in a community that offers a holistic and unique mountain resort experience like no other? Where you have a stunning view and a cool climate with your loved ones.

After a stressful workweek dealing with chaotic traffic and other woes of city living, most people just want to spend a relaxing weekend in the company of family and friends. Few, however, can beat the enthusiasm of avid golfers for finding the perfect getaway, one that exudes the luxury and elegance of a premier mountain resort community and provides access to a championship golf course set amidst breathtaking views.

This is why Tagaytay Highlands has become the favorite weekend destination of golfers and their families, where they spend time with other residents and guests who share the same passion for the sport.

Tagaytay Highlands is home to Asia’s most exciting golf course, the Tagaytay Highlands Golf Club, in which man-made ingenuity seamlessly blends with the natural terrain and lush greens of the Tagaytay landscape.

And then there’s the Tagaytay Midlands Golf Club, an equally challenging 18-hole championship golf course set amidst abundant greenery and a perfect vantage point of the Taal Lake and Volcano. Witness the perfect view while starting your first tee or while having lunch with family at the Midlands Golfers Lounge.

At the end of a long and fulfilling day and a round of golf, residents can then recharge in the comforts of their own home at Horizon Terraces or Vireya, two of Tagaytay Highlands’ most favored residential developments that are in close proximity to the Tagaytay Midlands Golf Club.

An Urban Escape amidst Nature at Horizon Terraces
Residents who long for a weekend retreat closer to nature can find the perfect home at Horizon Terraces. This 3.2-hectare community boasts of a contemporary Asian design aesthetic in its Garden Villas and Garden Suites, which are laid out, terrace-style, to afford postcard-pretty views of the Taal Lake and Volcano, the distant Mt. Makiling, the Midlands Golf Course, and its own lush central park.

The Garden Villas are three-bedroom townhouses of 136 to 154 square meters masterfully designed for large, close-knit families who long for a quick disconnect from the urban frenzy. Each living space is complemented by large glass windows and sliding doors to maximize natural light, cool breeze, and refreshing views. The ground floor in each unit features a multi-functional den that may be converted into an entertainment area or a guest room.

The Garden Suites are perfect for growing families and individuals. These well-planned one- and two-bedroom units range from 43 to 68 square meters in size highlighted by large panel sliding windows that maximize natural lighting and ventilation and an expansive balcony to enjoy views.

Inspired by the radiance of nature that surrounds it, Horizon Terraces promises holistic indulgence through the community’s very own central park, where laidback moments or active adventures can be found within a hectare of lush, verdant setting. Over 70% of the development is dedicated to open spaces and lush gardens while therapeutic walkways, private nooks, and a jogging path weave through the entire area as spaces to converge and commune. Two swimming pools and a playground call for invigorating activities within a serene refuge.

A Mountainside Paradise at Vireya
Families who prefer to dwell in a tropical haven can choose Vireya, the first and only tropical resort community in Tagaytay Highlands where the cool mist of the mountains complements with the vibrant warmth of the tropics.

Located at the highest point of the Midlands, future residents can build tropical-inspired homes on 250- to 562-square-meter lots wherein elements of wood and wide glass windows and high-pitched roofs and entryways allow the verdant outdoors in.

Satisfy your distinct leisurely pursuits amidst the mountainside tropics with exclusive amenities that can be found within Vireya. Enjoy memorable moments at the Pavana, Vireya’s central amenity with a pavilion and swimming pool, or unwind in relaxation at the Ammanya Massage Point.

Gipit?

Di ba yun mawawala or babawasan o mapapalitan?

Pede magsangla ng kahit hiwa hiwalay pa yang mga alahas mo, mapa tabingi man yan putol or kulang, di magkapartner,  as long as may kilatis at ginto pede po.

3. I fill up ang form ng iyong pangalan, address o anuman hihingin personal information.

Kaya next time na magipit.

Chang Ai Express rebrands with new and affordable chinese dishes

If you're around Mother Ignacia in QC and is looking for a chinese restaurant around the vicinity. You can visit and try Chang Ai Express. The restaurant is owned by celebrity actress Ms. Ai Ai and son Chef Sancho Vito. The meals are affordable and delicious too. All of the dishes are prepared by  Chef Sancho and Chef Ren Tuico.

Chef Sancho recommends Orange Chicken for its delicious sweet and spicy flavor, Honey Soy Glazed Chicken, Fish and Tofu (Fried fish fillets and tofu, coated in a sweet, savory soy glaze.)

We were served Chang Ai Fried Chicken toppings with Siomai,  Fish and Tofu,  Cauliflower and Green Beans, and Mango Sago Medley.

Chef Sancho and Chef Ren Tuico

My personal favorite is their Fish and Tofu meal, as tofu is cooked crispy  perfect with fish to bring out the flavor,  an order of steamed rice is also recommended. I also recommend the Mango Sago Medley for dessert. Its creamy tasty with mango and sago,  and not that sweet, which I preferred.

                                                      Orange Chicken

                                 Combo Meal A (Php 165)
1 piece Ai Fried Chicken with Siomai
                               Chang Ai Fried Rice
                               House Blend Iced Tea

                                             Fish and Tofu Php 245
Fried fish fillet and tofu coated with a sweet soy glaze

Cauliflower and Green Beans Php 150
Cauliflower and green beans stir fried with garlic and ginger sambai

                                     Mango Sago Medley Php 75
Fresh Mango Slush topped with tapioca pearls

Celebrity comedienne Ms. Ai Ai delas Alas fresh from her winning for The Best Actress in School Service at the Cinemalaya 2018 awards recently relaunched her restaurant Chang Ai Express last August 14 at Mother Ignacia, QC.  When asked how she felt with her winning the Award.  She told that she did not expect to win. She thought Glaiza de Castro will win, as she was crowd's favorite during the screening.

She bested other Best Actress nominees, that include Celeste Legaspi, Iza Calzado, Glaiza de Castro and Perla Bautista.

GSK promises to help eliminate disease that is spread by mosquitoes

In the Philippines, GSK has donated over 255 million albendazole tablets over the last 17 years. This small white tablet is part of the fight to eliminate lymphatic filariasis (LF), a disease transmitted by mosquitoes and burdens identified rural communities in the country.

By the end of the year, GSK projects this donation to reach 261 million albendazole tablets in support of its goal to help eliminate LF in the Philippines by 2020.

Globally, GSK has donated 8 billion tablets of albendazole to help eliminate this disabling disease. This tablet is used in combination with other medicines to help prevent transmission of LF.

Following almost two decades of successful LF elimination efforts by the Philippine Government led by the Department of Health (DOH), the DOH reported that only eight provinces remain endemic for LF out of the 46 earlier established.

During the 1st ASEAN Lymphatic Filariasis Forum 2018 in July which was held in Manila, Health Secretary Francisco T. Duque III stressed, “the DOH is ready to take the challenge of eliminating filariasis in the country by being more responsive through the DOH’s revitalized agenda of Fourmula 1 Plus for Health.”1 Fourmula 1 Plus for Health is a DOH strategy focusing of health financing, health service delivery network, health regulation, governance in health and performance accountability.

“To ensure the success against lymphatic filariasis, Duque devised a Formula E approach which is for Engagement and Everybody. Engagement is where government needs to share its resources and expertise with other stakeholders including local governments, and Everybody is where the whole of government or the whole-of-society approach should be adapted by leaders to ensure that all interventions are aligned and inter-connected,” the DOH reported.1

LF, a parasitic infection spread by mosquitoes, is found in the tropical and sub-tropical areas of Africa, Asia, the Pacific, the Middle East and the Americas.2 LF is one of the world’s leading causes of disability.3 Symptoms can include chronic swelling of the legs, arms and male genitals. People with LF are also less able to resist common skin infections, resulting in a cruel cycle of fevers and painful swellings. In its severest form, LF leads to elephantiasis, a crippling condition in which the limbs are swollen with marked thickening of the skin and underlying tissues.4

The World Health Organization estimates that 856 million people in 52 countries are living in areas where LF is transmitted and are at risk of being infected.4

In the Philippines, it was reported in year 2000 that over 25 million people live in LF-endemic areas.5

At the turn of the millennium, the World Health Organization launched its global program to eliminate LF with the aim of defeating the disease as a global health problem by 2020. GSK and partners helped build a global alliance including organizations from across the non-profit and private sector to get behind the WHO’s campaign. GSK’s albendazole donation through the WHO forms part of this global effort.

GSK Philippines General Manager, Sriram Jambunathan, commented, “The Philippine Government, through the DOH, is to be commended for its achievement in the elimination of LF in many provinces in the last two decades.  This is a testament to the commitment and dedication of the government at the national and local government units, especially the health workers delivering treatments on the ground. We, in GSK, remain committed to playing our part with the global donation of albendazole for as long as it is needed to replicate this success throughout the remaining eight endemic provinces, freeing Filipino communities from the burden of LF.”

This year, GSK commemorates its 50th year in the Philippines and commits to continue helping Filipinos do more, feel better, live longer.

For questions, please consult your doctor or community health officials.
