Loren Legarda topped the latest “Tugon ng Masa” survey conducted by OCTAResearch

Three-time senator and Antique representative Loren Legarda topped the latest “Tugon ng Masa” survey conducted by OCTAResearch from February 12 to 17, 2022.

Awareness for Legarda was at 100% with 66% voting for her in the upcoming Senatorial Race which puts her in the top spot.

The survey came from 1,200 respondents with a 3% margin of error.

Legarda, who is currently busy with the campaign trail, previously said that regardless of the ranking in surveys, she’s grateful that people recognized the work she has done both as senator and representative of Antique.

“Yung ranko naman sa survey ay numero lamang bagamat ako’y nagpapasalamat. Heartfelt gratitude,” she said during an interview with Politiskoop last week. “ Makapaglingkod lang ay okay na po sa atin yan. Ang importante ay kayo’y nasa isang posisyon. The Senate is a platform for me to do the good I want to do for the world.”

In her time in the Senate, Legarda sat as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance. She has also pushed and authored several bills to causes close to her heart such as the Environment, Entrepreneurship, Culture and the Arts, and Education. She is also known for helping in the Health Care Act after authoring the National Health Insurance Act of 2013 allowing affordable and accessible healthcare for many Filipinos.

As Antique representative, Legarda has authored the “One Tablet, One Student Act of 2021,” which seeks to have each student a tablet to use for school for online classes during the pandemic. She has also continued to ensure her fellow Antiquenos get affordable health care and training for small and medium businesses.

Trailing her at second is journalist Raffy Tulfo with 97% awareness and 63% voting for him. Taguig-Pateros 1st District Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano is at third with 100% awareness but just 61% voting for him.

AXA Philippines offers important facts to know about leukemia

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the world, particularly in developing countries like the Philippines as screening procedures are considered too difficult and costly to implement. In 2020, cancer was the second leading cause of death in the country at 62,300 deaths. Leukemia, the cancer of white blood cells, is among the most common types of cancer. Smoking, overexposure to radiation or carcinogenic chemicals, and certain genetic conditions such as Down Syndrome increase the risk of developing leukemia.

AXA Philippines, one of the country’s leading insurance providers, offers important facts to know about leukemia:

Types of leukemia. The types of leukemia are grouped according to how rapidly the disease develops (acute vs. chronic leukemia) and the type of blood cell involved (lymphocytic and myeloid leukemia). In acute leukemia, the abnormal cells increase rapidly, and the bone marrow cells are also unable to function normallyChildren aged three to five years old are the most common demographic to acquire this type of leukemia. With chronic leukemia, the cells can carry out some of their normal functions and the abnormal cells multiply at a slower rate. Lymphocytic leukemia involves growth abnormalities in the lymphocytes while myeloid leukemia affects the myeloid cells.

Symptoms to watch out for. Some of the warning signs include bleeding or bruising easily, weakness and fatigue, loss of appetite, weight loss, swollen or bleeding gums, bone or joint pain, anemia, and sweating especially at night.

How leukemia is diagnosed. To determine if a patient has leukemia after exhibiting signs and symptoms, a health care provider may do the following procedures: blood tests, MRI and bone marrow biopsy, and imaging tests such as x-rays, ultrasound, CT scan.

How to minimize the risk of developing leukemia. Avoiding or quitting smoking is the most significant avoidable risk factor. Aside from quitting smoking, other lifestyle adjustments that you can make include eating healthier and exercising moderately for 150 minutes every week. Also, it’s best to avoid overexposure to the sun, artificial tanning devices, x-rays, and benzene from gasoline fumes and emissions from some factories that can cause cell damage that may lead to cancer.

Leukemia mortality can be reduced if diagnosed and treated early. Diagnosis and treatment may come with a hefty price tag, as chemotherapy sessions alone average P120,000 per session.

To protect your health and finances, AXA Philippines offers Health Care Access, a comprehensive and affordable health care solution for hospitalization and other medical needs. Health Care Access comes with a Critical Illness Booster which provides additional cash benefit if one gets diagnosed with any of the 56 critical illness conditions including leukemia. When diagnosed, the additional cash benefit can be used for paying other medical expenses for treatment or income replacement. The policy also includes free access to 24/7 teleconsultation with a medical professional and a Longevity Health Fund that one can utilize for medical needs at age 76 onwards.

Health Care Access comes in two types: Health Care Access Prime and Health Care Access Lite. Health Care Access Prime provides comprehensive coverage of up to P5,000,000 annually. It also offers inpatient and outpatient care, and emergency care treatment up to the Annual Benefit Limit (ABL). This also includes an Annual Physical Exam starting from seven basic tests. The Annual Physical Exam helps with early detection and prevention in case of possible occurrence of any critical illnesses. Health Care Access Prime also offers life and accident insurance benefit of up to P500,000. On the other hand, Health Care Access Lite caters to people with existing healthcare plans but need additional health protection. Health Care Access Lite also includes life and accident insurance up to P500,000, and it can be enhanced with outpatient care, optical care, or dental care benefit for a small additional premium.

Jollibee is back again with a trilogy that portrays a love that is worth persevering, My Crush is A Cactus Killer

It goes without saying that change is the only constant thing in life. There are times when it brings people to difficult situations they need to overcome, but there are also moments when it leads them to the answers of their greatest whys. Either way, adapting to change can be an uncomfortable process — but the beautiful, empowering love that we find in the midst of it all is what makes the experience worthwhile.

On February 28, the country’s most loved fast-food chain, Jollibee is back again with a trilogy that portrays a love that is worth persevering. My Crush is A Cactus Killer, produced by Jollibee Studios, is a three-part series that follows the story of two people who found a joyful connection that carried them through the toughest times in their lives.

Directed by acclaimed Filipino film director, Sigrid Bernardo, My Crush is A Cactus Killer features up-and-coming artists Gigi de Lana and Raphael Balaccua.

Join Mandy (Gigi de Lana) and Mikey (Raphael Balaccua) on a journey towards letting love grow in Jollibee Studios’ three-part series, My Crush is a Cactus Killer. The series launches on February 28 only on the Jollibee Studios YouTube channel.

The two will give life to the characters of Mandy (Gigi) and Mikey (Raphael) both of whom share a love for plants--a plantita and a plantito--but that is not the only thing they have in common: both have faced setbacks in their professional and personal lives due to the pandemic. As they try to put the pieces of their lives back together and weather through an uncertain situation, will a shared love of plants make them discover that love can make change easier?

“It’s a universal experience to go through a change, especially in the pandemic, but even though we say 'everyone goes through it', it doesn’t take away the fact that pain and loss is a difficult feeling,” said Arline Adeva, AVP and Head of Brand Communications, PR and Digital Marketing at Jollibee. “What we want to communicate through this new Jollibee Studios series is that hope and true joy could be found if we remain open to all the possibilities that these changes can lead us to.”

Through Jollibee Studios’ exclusive branded content for entertainment, it has captured the hearts of many people with true people and their real-life encounters at the heart of its stories.

Last December, Jollibee Studios released its first mid-length film which has garnered millions of views on the platform. Truly it’s a fitting testament to the Filipinos’ deep affinity with the Jollibee brand and its storytelling.

With My Crush is A Cactus Killer, the brand aims to spread hope, inspiration, and joy to people amid changing times.

Watch the latest and first ever mini-series exclusively available on the Jollibee Studios YouTube channel.

Are you itching for a road trip?

With COVID-19 cases declining, various local government agencies have recommended that Metro Manila's pandemic restrictions be downgraded to Alert Level 1 this March.

This means traveling, without regard for age and co-morbidities, will now be allowed. Dining in at restaurants, visiting tourist attractions and entertainment venues, and going for staycations are now possible at full on-site capacity. However, owners and organizers should ensure minimum health measures, like proper ventilation, wearing of face masks, and proper handwashing, are implemented.

When this happens, will you be ready to pack your bags and travel up north for a quick weekend getaway? Shake off the cabin fever - prepare for that long overdue road trip and enrich yourself with better countryside views, the fresh air, and local delicacies.

Here's a quick guide to help you prepare for this much-needed break:

1. Bring your vaccination and booster cards.

To be sure, it is recommended that adults and vaccinated children have their vaccination and booster cards ready for inspection. Depending on where you're coming from, some local government units (LGU) might check for Negative RT-PCR/Antigen tests. For example, Baguio City still requires this for children aged 12 to 17 years old.

2. Tourist passes

Depending on the LGU, there might be areas that still require tourist passes. Best to check for the latest updates on your destination’s websites before hitting the road.

3. Still observe health protocols

For your safety, especially when you are traveling with family and friends, it would still be recommended to always wear your face masks, observe social distancing, and always disinfect with isopropyl alcohol and disinfectants.

4. Pre-book your accommodations

If you're planning to stay longer than a day, it is recommended that you confirm accommodation with establishments ahead of time. Check for their requirements and restrictions so you and your travel buddies will be ready. This saves you the hassle of looking for a place to stay when you are already at your destination. With everyone wanting for a break, these hotels and resorts might even be fully booked!

5. Prepare your vehicle

If you are planning to bring your own car, it would be best to have it checked by your suking mechanic. For those of us who stay and work at home, it is recommended to have our vehicles serviced first for good measure. If your car is in tip-top shape, checking for BLOWBAG (brakes, lights, oil, water, battery, air, and gasoline) is a necessity before going on that long drive. Have your back-up water, tools, and early warning device (EWD) on the ready for any incident.

6. Plan your trip

Aside from securing accommodations and preparing your itinerary, it is also important to plan your routes and stopovers. Program your destinations on Waze or Google Maps. For emergencies when travelling north or south, always keep the expressways’ hotline handy. Good thing that there is only one hotline for the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), and Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway (CAVITEX) at 1-35000.

7. Check and reload your Easytrip account

When the use of radio-frequency identification (RFID) was mandated by the government in 2020, toll operators like NLEX improved their RFID services to ensure the safety and convenience of motorists. One of these providers, Easytrip Services Corp, continues to uphold this mandate through its improved RFID account management. As the innovation arm of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), MPT Mobility’s Easytrip now offers various services for its registered users under myeasytrip web. Through the myeasytrip Customer Account Management System (CAMS), registered users can now do the ff:

- Check their balance and passages

- Generate their statement of account (SOA)

- Get the latest updates and advisories from Easytrip

- Get a chance to participate and win in different promos

To register your Easytrip RFID or to check if you are already registered, try this link here. Once registered, you can create your myeasytrip CAMS account here

Reloading is also much easier as most of the Easytrip's reloading merchants credit the loads in quick-time. For a list of reloading merchants, please check here. If you still don't have an Easytrip RFID, subscription and sign up are so easy, just click here

MPT Mobility will soon launch a new mobility-related services app, MPT DriveHub. All of MPT Mobility’s services like Easytrip will be on this app. MPT DriveHub will be available for download on Google Play Store and Apple App Store on March 1.

MPT Mobility president and general manager Raul Ignacio has announced, “The digital solutions our business units will offer are all about improving mobility for Filipinos, addressing a variety of customer needs and providing life conveniences via a digital interface.” This is something to look forward to, especially when planning for trips.

With these reminders, you and your loved ones can surely have a safe and relaxing trip. Always keep yourself healthy and safe travels.

Cebu Pacific urges guests to use Travel Fund before expiry

The Philippines’ leading airline, Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB), encourages guests with existing travel funds to use them before they expire, to book flights for travel up to one year ahead.

Passengers with Travel Fund may conveniently book flights before its expiry date, by choosing a flight schedule up to one year later. A Travel Fund is the value of CEB bookings stored in a virtual wallet that can be used to pay for any transaction on the CEB website – be it for flights or add-ons, like baggage allowance, travel insurance, preferred seats, meals, and many more.

CEB has an ongoing Juan Love “Sama-summer together” seat sale that offers domestic flights for as low as PHP88 one-way base fare. This sale runs until February 28, 2022, for travel from now until July 31, 2022. Travel Fund is accepted as a form of payment.

Guests planning trips this year – whether solo, or with friends and family – can book flights across the airline’s widest domestic network, which includes destinations such as Bohol, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, and Iloilo, among others.

“Now is the perfect time to book those flights as we continue seeing more destinations ease restrictions – be it for immediate travel to take advantage of flying easy now; or for future trips everyJuan can look forward to as the fund can be used to book flights up to a year out,” said Candice Iyog, Vice President for Marketing & Customer Experience at Cebu Pacific.

Here are the steps on how to use the Travel Fund:

1.     Remember to keep your Travel Fund booking reference on hand.

2.     Choose your new flight and book as usual. The owner of the Travel Fund must be included in your booking.

3.     On the payment page, select “Travel Fund” and input the booking reference of the fund you want to use.

CEB continues to offer flexible products that enable its guests to fly easy and safely, such as the CEB Flexi, a flight add-on that allows passengers to voluntarily cancel their flights for free, up to two (2) hours before departure, and store the value of the booking in a Travel Fund. This may be purchased via initial booking for as low as PHP 499.

“We’re glad to have developed this product months ago as we know this remains relevant and beneficial for all those who feel like they still need additional flexibility as the world transitions to COVID becoming endemic,” added Iyog.

On top of this, the airline continues to offer Unlimited Rebooking for everyJuan as it permanently removed change fees in 2020. Fare difference may apply.
