Reef makes a pledge for cleaner beaches

Single-use plastics are among the biggest pollutants found in our oceans today. A whopping 32% of plastic packaging being left to the environs, with 8 million tons of plastic packaging wind up in the ocean each year.

Dedicated to making sure beaches stay clean and healthy, international beach apparel brand Reef pledges to use the fun, freedom and spirit of the beach to champion a better life for people and plane by achieving 1,500 beach clean ups, remove 150,000 lbs of trash, and engage 30,000 volunteers around the world this year.

In line with their global pledge, Reef locally mounted their Free the Sea Movement 3 in San Juan, La Union in partnership with WWF-Philippines which aimed to encourage people to live a sustainable lifestyle by not using single-use plastics that are harmful to the environment, specifically oceans.

Reef is proud of their PVC-free products such as sandals enhanced with Eco One, an organic additive that enhances the biodegradation process, which makes them 100% biodegradable.

Reef’s pledge for cleaner beaches is in line with their latest campaign Beach Freely, which encourages everyone who steps into the sand or into Reef products to experience the beach in their own way and take that fun spirit of the beach with them wherever they go.

My first IV Cinderella + Aqualite and body massage at HAIRX REMOVAL

HairXRemoval S Maison Conrad Staff

I remember having my first Gluta drips 7 years ago. It was during those times that I had difficulty sleeping because I worked the night shift at BPO.  My doctor suggested to take gluta IV (intravenous) with vitamin C to stay healthy and alert. So I did, I loved the whitening side effects. Plus it helped my skin smooth, pimple-free and I loved that I can sleep 8 hours straight during those medication.

I stopped the gluta IV drips during the summer of 2014. I preferred oral (tablets) because its cheaper and is available at any drugstore.

Fast forward to today, I still had my drips when I wanted to and when Im free with work. That's why when I heard that HAIRX REMOVAL is offering IV Glutathione, IV Placenta and IV Cinderella, among others. I had my first IV Cinderella with them. Its the best whitening and vitamin injection product in Korea. It boosts your energy especially when you're  busy juggling with work and family.  I had mine done at HAIRX S Maison, Conrad. Its very affordable. Im going back this week and would schedule a Power Brows Microblading. Good luck to me!

HAIRX REMOVAL was launched in August 2015.  It is a local concept that was inspired by Musee, Japan’s No.1 Hair Removal salon.
With branches at Conrad S Maison, Marina Way, MOA and Eight Forbes Town Road, BGC, they are managed by highly-trained aestheticians using the latest equipment, techniques and procedures in a clean and relaxed environment.

My first IV Cinderella with HAIRX REMOVAL was painless and left no bruises. (look for nurse assigned at 2pm shift every Friday,Saturday and Sunday) plus it delivered its promise of boosting energy and whitening as its side effect.

I also had my AquaLite facial which was refreshing because it makes use of water machine from Korea, It helps to exfoliate, cleanse and infuses Vitamin C using water shots. It sucks all the dirt, blackheads and whiteheads. After the procedure my face feels soft and clean.  It has that natural glow from within. I loved it. Lakas maka fresh.

After my IV Gluta session, I decided to have a body massage (since they are now offering body massage in Conrad branch). The masseuse knew my pressure points, and that I slept so well during the one hour body massage. It helped me relax and re-energize the next day.

There is a one-stop-shop for hair removal concerns and other beauty treatments that are affordable and reliable - HAIRX REMOVAL.

HairX Hair Removal ensures that each procedure is as painless as possible, combining modern services with the latest state-of-the-art technology such as IPL hair treatments, Diode Laser machine, Lycon wax, and threading procedures for hair removal that is effective with long-term reduction results without the pain and distress. Christmas Eve Countdown with Chef Laudico

Have you begun preparations for your Noche Buena yet? You’d be surprised at how early some households begin planning for the centerpiece of holiday meals. After all, Christmas eve dinner is a major production number in almost every household, and it is especially so when that household is composed of two acclaimed chefs and their extended family.

Such is the case of the Laudicos. Every year, Chef Lau hosts Christmas Eve dinner for his family in his own home, and that means a minimum of four courses for at least a dozen people, which translates into a ton of cooking. Pulling it off is no mean feat, not even for this seasoned restaurateur and caterer.  Aside from relying on his ever-dependable La Germania range, he draws from his years of experience in cooking for large groups of people to be able to create masterpiece meals year after year.

The secret? It’s all in the preparation.

The power of prep
“I spend the entire day cooking for Christmas dinner,” shares Chef Lau, “but you don’t have to do everything on the day itself.” In fact, a lot of your success rests on doing the exact opposite. Planning ahead and preparing your tools and ingredients beforehand often spells the difference between a disastrous dinner and a well-executed Noche Buena.

Chef Lau always includes his diners’ likes and dislikes when he prepares meals, and for the holidays, he even includes them in the planning, which can be done even a couple of weeks in advance. “Before I make the menu, I ask my family and guests if there’s something in particular they would like. They always have special requests, and every year it’s something different. From those requests, you can begin to shape the menu.”

Then comes the fun part – shopping. “The secret to any good dish is to start with the very best ingredients that you can find. If you start with good ingredients, there’s a good chance that the dish will come out good. If you start with bad ingredients, then nothing you can do to them, no amount of cooking, will make them be good,” the chef explains. “So you have to know where to get your ingredients, and you can shop for them well ahead of time. For fresh greens and seafood, it’s always best to buy them on the day you’re cooking them, but the other things, like meat, you can probably get a couple of days before, well-frozen.”

Frozen meat require a prep step of their own—defrosting. Laudico stresses that this is an essential step in your holiday meal-making. “It’s important that you defrost your meat properly. Cold, partially frozen meat will take longer to cook and may be undercooked on the inside, or it could be dry and tasteless.” Plan for the time it will take for the meat to slowly thaw out in your refrigerator. For big roasts, that might take as much as 48 hours. For smaller items like whole chickens, 24 hours should be more than enough.

Choosing your tools
Of course, choosing what to work with in the kitchen is important, too. A reliable cooking range or oven that will withstand the rigors of everyday cooking as well as the occasional increased demand of preparing large amounts of food for celebrations is of outmost importance.

You also have to choose the kind of energy you want to cook with—gas or electricity—and pick a range based on that.

Most condominiums no longer allow gas ovens among tenants, citing safety reasons. But even if their condo building allows for gas cooking ranges, Chef Lau chose to go with an electric oven in his home. “It’s so responsive,” he says, “the temperature is so easy to control and maintain throughout the cooking process.”

Some cooking processes are reliant on being able to maintain a low, even temperature, or a searing hot one. Chef Lau’s range of choice offers a magnificent temperature range, reaching temperatures high enough for broiling his favorite holiday roasts and low enough to serve as a dehydrator to make dried fruit leathers. What’s even more impressive is that an electric oven can maintain that temperature for extended periods of time, ensuring that whatever you’re cooking is not subjected to drastic temperature changes while it cooks. “Of course, every oven is unique, too, so you have to become familiar with how your oven works by using it as often as you can. That familiarity gets you the best results,” said Lau.

So there you have it. The secrets to a masterpiece of a meal for Noche Buena – preparation, time management, and the right partner in the kitchen. From one family’s hearth to your own: happy cooking, everyone!

Monsoon Blockchain Storage USA (“Monsoon”) was formally introduced to the Philippine market

Data storage capacity needs are doubling every one to two years. What happens every minute on the internet creates the need for massive data storage.

The opportunity that cloud computing provides to business has led to a shift in I.T. from traditional models to cloud models. This shift will hit over USD 1 trillion annually over the next decade.

It is for this reason that businesses have been prompted to establish relationships with multiple cloud providers across numerous geographies, in addition to maintaining some of their own hosted or colocated I.T. capabilities by this shift, and this is playing out very well for many companies – Amazon
being a very good example.

In fact, as of the end of the 2nd quarter of 2018, 55% of Amazon’s consolidated operating income is currently coming directly from their Cloud data storage business or AWS.

At a recent media forum held in Sofitel Hotel in Manila, Monsoon Blockchain Storage USA (“Monsoon”) was formally introduced to the Philippine market. Monsoon is a blockchain-based decentralized protocol that aims to construct a worldwide storage and cloud optimization network of users and providers based on their innovative technology which distributes more than ample storage and optimizes the cloud.

The event was spearheaded by Monsoon’s Chairman and Co-founder Michael J. Woods, former CEO of the prestigious Rothschild & Co. Asset Management Inc., USA, and a world-renowned finance expert; and, Gracie Llana-Walker, the former Director of Technology for the Archdiocese of LA and Montebello USD and an active community leader, who was appointed as Monsoon’s Southeast Asian Consultant for Strategic Partnerships. During the event, Mr. Woods discussed global investment trends, cloud-based storage solutions and wealth management. He also identified a number of challenges that currently exist with the movement to cloud computing; albeit having unlocked a vast number of opportunities as well. He also stressed that investors should not only consider these trends and usage growth, but also to take action upon them in some way.

Mr. Woods explained that Monsoon seeks to address the two main limitations of cloud computing, namely: a centralized network of servers; and, limited optimization of data cost correlated to data usage. Monsoon’s goal is to solve limited cloud optimization technology by optimizing client data storage across multiple cloud based providers. At the same time, Monsoon’s blockchain security protocol solves many security risks inherent in cloud computing.

Atty Raji Mendoza of Mendoza, Anterro & Associates law firm, however, raised his concern on whether this sector should be more regulated or not, since some economic zones offering Fintech opportunities have tightened the noose by requiring these companies to be backed up by hard assets, among other conditions. These restrictions, however, seem to run contrary to its nature of
decentralized transactions.

Despite this, Ardy Mejorada, Secretary of World Blockchain Organization (WBO), ASEAN, an organization registered under the United Nation Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC), welcomed the entry of Monsoon in Manila and said “We look forward to collaborating with the company in sharing best practices and disseminating the effective adoption of blockchain in general via the Monsoon company.”

Mr. Woods believes that blockchain and Monsoon will impact almost every business sector globally. “With the vast demands presented by the digital era, Monsoon, through its seasoned management team, specialized engineering team, and industry partners such as IBM, is more than prepared and able to help businesses manage the explosion of data created and stored into their
cloud-based systems and link them to our blockchain technology platform so they can keep stride with the 4th Industrial Revolution,” Mr. Woods added.

Treat yourself, your friends and loved ones to Miss Esthe and be the star of Holiday get-togethers

Regardless of age or gender, one’s skin will eventually be prone to visible pores and sagging due to different factors like genes, pollution, lifestyle and hygiene. Skin aging is the accumulation of impurities in the skin and improper exfoliation can cause dirt clogs, resulting to conspicuous pores and wilting. If you want to address these issues, MISS ESTHE FACIAL SALON AND SKIN CARE can help you.

This Holiday Season and in the coming year, treat yourself, your friends and loved ones to Miss Esthe and be the star of Holiday get-togethers.

A visit to the salon  begins with its original skin analysis to determine your real skin “age”, including spot age (age of the skin based on the appearance of age spots), wrinkle age (age of skin based on the appearance of wrinkles), and skin texture age (age of the skin based on its texture). From there, the esthetician can suggest the treatments needed to address the customer’s present skin conditions. Two of the most sought-after treatments are Pore Reduction and Instant Lift.

If pores are your problem, stop squeezing or picking at your face as it may cause long-term damage and impair your skin’s natural ability to heal itself. Head over to Miss Esthe and avail of its Open Pores treatment. The salon uses a D-Sonic probe that brushes off blackheads and whiteheads through ultrasound micro-vibrations that result to a clear face with tightened, uncongested pores.

This deeply cleanses the skin in a gentle, non-invasive way, followed by the use of Miss Esthe’s house refining essence and mask, after which  an ion brush is used to close the pores ensuing a poreless, glowing and vibrant finish. There is no painful pricking at Miss Esthe to remove stubborn blackheads and whiteheads.

If you want to achieve a glowing skin, say goodbye to loose skin with the Instant Lift, the best option for an immediate picture-perfect skin. Miss Esthe uses the latest ultrasonic microvibrations technology that painlessly and safely stimulates dermal collagen production making your skin look good sans the sagging.

Miss Esthe is a Japanese skin care concept located at the 2/F of Uptown Bonifacio Global City.  Its non-invasive treatments are perfect for different kinds of skin types  and are affordable even for young working professionals.

Aside from the above, Miss Esthe is also known for its Anti-aging as well as
Whitening, Acne, Sensitive Skin,  Glass Facial, Deep Whitening and Deep Acne  treatmens. The signature face and decollete massage is included in all treatments.
Miss Esthe likewise offers a wide range of facial and skin care products —including the Wrinkle Care Serum and Gel with anti-inflammatory and anti-aging peptides, Cleansing and Foam, Essence Lotion that addressed different skin needs, and the moisturizing Perfect Oil Serum which corrects texture and prevent formation of wrinkles.

Celebrate REALationships this Holiday Season

There are friends. There are family and there are friends that become family.
This Holiday season, lets create real connections and real bonding moments--Celebrate REALationships.

Filipinos are all about family. The mandatory family reunion happens not just once or twice a year, but every chance possible. From Birthdays to graduations all the way to the grand Christmas reunion, family gatherings are always filled with food, catching up, and loads of wholesome family fun.

Lately, we’ve seen many changes in traditional family dynamics — from a simple meal to dance numbers by the grandkids. Families are reaching out to friends and relatives abroad through technology. While technology can be used to connect people, it can also become a wall between family members.

How many times have you walked into a room and you are ignored by everyone hooked on their gadgets? This is the reality that has become the new norm. The simple act of truly connecting has become a valuable commodity that needs to be safeguarded by everyone in the family.

This Holiday season, a brand has decided to take action to advocate for real connections. It’s not asking you to completely give up your created social media life but to at least save the dining table from it — to keep shared family moments Real again.

El Real is a pasta brand that plans to espouse this habit of safeguarding the dining moment from gadget distraction. As a beloved family brand, El Real will position itself as the champion for Real Family moments. The brand focuses on a typical family where we see the journey from the time the kids are growing to present time in order to dramatize the big shift in the way things are. The absence of technology encourages real bonding between siblings and their mother while in the present, gadgets have isolated each one from the intended bonding that should happen during the family reunion.

This advocacy is a good positioning for the brand El Real as it puts purpose to a very familiar product: pasta and sauce. Spaghetti and Macaroni being a staple in most Filipino gathering, can remind us that there is so much for us to share with everyone and that each enjoyable moment is an opportunity to create real moments. The plan is to launch the advocacy campaign this holiday season by using the traditional Christmas reunion but eventually to progress to other family bonding moments. Here we are faced with an opportunity to create new traditions, which will reflect each family’s desire to have a more real meaningful connection that’s free from any distractions.

This is just the beginning for El Real in its pursuit to make real relevance to Filipino families. Let’s start creating Real Moments with El Real.

Make REAL moments this Holiday Season.
