realme C12 Unboxing and Review: The Battery Beast

Since the pandemic hit the country, I have been binge-watching on all sorts of movies and TV series I could find on Netflix.

From Korean Dramas, reality show, and most recently I’ve had this renewed fascination for zombie-themed shows, something I thought I got over after watching The Walking Dead.

Name all the zombie movies/series —Hollywood, Asian, European, Japanese in your head and we’ve probably seen or scanned through them all. And strangely they just make me feel more ALIVE.  Yes. I also watched that movie.

Its become my scapegoat from all the things that's been happening during these crazy year. I feel more at ease knowing that if an outbreak like this happens in the future, I am zombie-ready.

Unfortunately, most of the time, my phone goes dead, just after the second or third episode or movie, that's why I have been looking for an affordable standby mobile phone with long battery life, to keep me glued to my past time—tipong parang zombie kapag naka amoy ng tao. haha

Last week, realme sent me the latest addition to their C series, the realmeC12, and I have been using for the past few days.

I loved that it came in coral red (though I see it more like bloody red) because it stands out and is very easy to find amidst all my partner’s other phones on his charging stand. It has what they call a Geometric Gradient Design which I also like because it isn’t much of a fingerprint magnet, and I have yet to get a case for it.

The realme c12’s main selling point is its 6,000mAh battery the first in its price point here in the Philippines.

This mega battery capacity makes the realme C12 the perfect phone for those who want a phone they could use for their entire working day. Through its Super Power Saving Mode, the device could continuously be used for apps like WhatsApp and YouTube, yet consume only 5% battery life.

The realme c12 even supports a special OTG reverse charging so users can also charge other devices just like a powerbank.

The realme c12 has a 6.5-inch large screen which I think is just the right size for watching action-packed zombie movies for that immersive visual experience. It’s a bit huge but still manageable enough to hold because of the ultra-high screen-to-body ratio of 88.7% is made possible by the classic mini-drop design. The size offers great visual experience, be it for regular smartphone use, or for highly visual activities such as video streaming and casual gaming.

The realme C12 has an AI triple-camera set-up with a 13MP main camera that captures clear details. Its f/2.2 large aperture enables the camera to take in more light, which is conducive for low-lit subjects. It has a Macro Lens with 4CM super-close focus distance that gives the device the capability to shoot small subjects and capture more details. An interesting addition is its B&W and Retro lens which is supposed to give a more special artistic effect for portrait shots.
I also liked the square camera panel on the back because it makes it look like those higher priced smartphones.

When I heard about its price, I didn’t expect much about its performance, but surprisingly it was quite smooth and lag free thanks because of its Helio G35 Processor that’s designed for all-around and multi-tasking, especially for gaming and entertainment. It also comes with a 3GB RAM + 32GB storage.

So far since I unboxed it and used to do some test shots, watched my favorite workout videos on Youtube and ofcourse movies, I only had to charge it once after 3 days of moderate to heavy use. If my notes are right, I’ve watched 3 movies, 5 episodes of a KDrama, done one hour exercise for 2 days, and it still had plenty of juice left. I only had to charge it after using it the entire day for my test shots.

The realme C12 was one of the highlights of the realme fan fest last August and usher’s in the BER months – the busiest of all months for Filipinos. At P5990 the realme c12 is a great option for those looking for a device with a high-capacity battery, powerful entry-level cameras and a large screen display, that would serve them well whether for entertainment, gaming or e-learning.
