IKEA officially opens its online store to Filipino consumers

Ahead of its Pasay store opening in Q4 this year, IKEA officially opens its online store to Filipino consumers. The online store will now operate 24/7.

“After several weeks of learning from our test-run, we are glad that we are now accessible to more Filipinos,” said Georg Platzer, Store Manager of IKEA Pasay City. “We are very excited to be part of the lives of the many people in the Philippines and share in their dreams of a better life at home.”

Last September, IKEA went on a test-run for its online store, where it opened up online shopping with limited capacity. This was to test all operational and technical processes and ensure an enjoyable and hassle-free online shopping experience.

Best buys online

IKEA’s most popular items during the test run came from the home storage and work space categories. Additionally, lower priced home décor items like the KUPONG Alarm clock (PHP90), FEJKA Artificial potted plant (PHP290), and BONDIS Wall clock (PHP590) were some of the most added to cart items online.

Children’s items also remained popular among online visitors and shoppers, with items like the small KRAMIG Soft Toy (PHP200), the functional TROFAST Storage box (PHP150), and the fully-stocked DUKTIG Play kitchen (PHP5,990) getting added to online carts.

Ready to add to cart?

To shop online, customers must first create an IKEA website account, which is different from their IKEA Family membership information. After that, online shoppers can choose what products they want, add to cart, and then proceed to check out. IKEA accepts payments via major credit cards, GCash, and installment via BDO.

Delivery options

IKEA offers three delivery options: truck, parcel, and click and collect. Orders that do not exceed more than 30 kg in weight and 1.8 meters in length and height will be considered as parcel orders. If an order exceeds more than 30 kg, and the height and length are more than 1.8 meters, it will be considered as a truck delivery order. Online shoppers can also choose to pick up their orders in select collection points

Truck delivery orders are currently limited to Metro Manila only while parcel deliveries extend to the greater Metro Manila area including: Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, parts of Quezon (up to Lucena), Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Bataan, and Subic.

IKEA Family

To make the most out of the IKEA shopping experience, Platzer urged shoppers to sign up for IKEA Family to begin earning points from their purchases. This also sets them up to enjoy in-store only perks once the Pasay City store opens later this year. To date, there are over 221K IKEA Family Members. Sign up to IKEA Family here.
