Alex Gonzaga talks about vlogging and beauty

Celebrities are often perceived as unreachable and intimidating, what with the aura of fame and fortune that they exude. But this is not that case for multihyphenate media personality Alex Gonzaga, who, for many years has been very open to sharing relatable situations in her normal day-to-day life through her social media platforms, which has managed to amass millions of followers.

What started out as a gratuitous way of keeping herself busy while waiting for her next project turned out to be one of her life’s biggest blessings. “I started vlogging five years ago. I ventured into it without thinking nait would open many opportunities. I just thought, okay sige dito nalang ako kasi at least I’m doing what I love. But then the Lord is very faithful, so just when I thought it was the end of my (showbiz) career, more opportunities opened. I booked more shows, and more people started to notice me.”

But more than the unexpected career boost, the singer-host confessed that sharing content on social media fulfills her desire to be someone that people can look up or relate to, especially when they are experiencing life challenges or a major milestone: “I will be sharing my life story because ako as a person, pag may pinagdadaanan ako, naghahanap ako ng tao sa TV or even sa internet na I can relate to. Na parang may pinagdaanan na katulad sa akin, and how they went through it victoriously.”

She also added, “Like the people I look up to, I also want to share more yung mga pinagdaanan or pinagdadaanan kong journey to let people know that, “It’s fine, I’m experiencing that also. We’re going to figure it out together, kaya niyo yan!” So kahit papaano yung lessons mo sa life nasheshare mo.”

Being someone relatable is reflective in many aspects of Gonzaga’s life, even down to her choice of products and endorsements. That is why as the newest brand ambassador of Ever Bilena, the country’s no.1 cosmetics brand, she couldn’t be more grateful to be able to promote a brand that’s accessible to many Filipinos.

“I’m so happy to be part of one of the biggest beauty companies here in the Philippines na nagbibigayconfidence sa bawat Filipino all over the Philippines, and even all over the world kasi everywhere, anywhere, it’s available. Ang sarap ng feeling to be promoting something na you know is going to be accessible to every Filipino,” she excitedly exclaimed.

“Not only are they accessible, they’re also affordable. They’re a one-stop shop because they have a lot of products na pwede mong gamitin whether sa work or nagmamadali ka,” adding that in her beauty kit, her must-have products include Ever Bilena’s best-selling products: EB Brow products, Ever Bilena Lip & Cheek Stain, and EB Matte Lipstick in Toast of New York shade.

For her, makeup shouldn’t overshadow but enhance one’s features: “Pag everyday makeup, as much as possible, because sa work ko lagi akong full makeup, gusto ko yung nae-enhance lang yung face ko. I just put eyebrows, lipstick, blush on, and eyeliner.”

So whether you’re an avid fan or a casual follower, don’t be surprised if, after checking out her vlog, you somehow end up feeling that this stunning celebrity is your BFF because in a way, she is as she opens up her life story to help people through big or small decisions – from makeup products and fashion, to career and life – through her own experiences.
