MAIN TRAILER OF “RUROUNI KENSHIN” SEQUELS NOW ONLINE



Warner Bros. Pictures has just reeled-off the main trailer of “Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno / The Legend Ends,” director Keishi Otomo's two-part sequels  to the 2013 blockbuster “Rurouni Kenshin” and based on the Kyoto arc of the popular manga series written & illustrated by Watsuki Nobuhiro.

In the sequels, reformed assassin Kenshin Himura (Takeru Sato) goes up against pure evil Makoto Shishio (Tatsuya Fujiwara) who is attempting to overthrow the Meiji government. The fate of the country hangs in the balance as Kenshin Himura takes up the sword that he vowed to never draw again.

The films also star Emi Takei (Kaoru Kamiya), Munetaka Aoki (Sanosuke Sagara), Kaito Oyagi (Yahiko Myojin), Yu Aoi (Megumi Takani), Yosuke Eguchi (Hajime Saito), Yusuke Iseya (Aoshi Shinomori), Min Tanaka (Nenji Kashiwazaki), Tao Tsuchiya (Misao Makimachi), Ryunosuke Kamiki (Soujiro Seta), Maryjun Takahashi (Yumi Komagata) and Tatsuya Fujiwara (Makoto Shishio).

The first sequel, “Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno” will open across the Philippines on Aug. 20, 2014, to be followed by “Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends” on Sept. 24, 2014. Both films are distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

"Edge of Tomorrow" earned $33 million in international openings

“EDGE OF TOMORROW” RISES EARLY IN INTERNATIONAL OPENINGS

Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Village Roadshow Pictures’ “Edge of Tomorrow,” starring Oscar nominee Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt and directed by Doug Liman, has earned an outstanding $33 million at the box office in early international openings ahead of its June 6 worldwide debut. The announcement was made today by Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, President of International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.


“Edge of Tomorrow” had a spectacular opening in Korea, with an estimated KRW 3.9b ($3.8m) on 681 screens, including sneak preview showings. Its Wednesday debut marked the biggest opening of all time for Warner Bros. Pictures in Korea, as well as the fourth biggest opening industry-wide, for that market. The film also opened yesterday at #1 in Denmark and Norway, as well as France, where it was #1 in both admissions and box office even amid strong competition from U.S. product and a popular local comedy.

Kwan Vandenberg said, “The sensational results on Wednesday, coupled with the film’s excellent playability in territories where it debuted last weekend, give us great momentum as we launch in 36 additional countries this weekend, including such major markets as Russia, Australia, Mexico and China.”

The early box office results come on the heels of the film’s groundbreaking worldwide event when, for the first time ever, three fan premieres were held in three different cities—London, Paris and New York—in just one day, “resetting” the red carpet as Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt raced the clock to make each event before time ran out.

Love Blends Well the Second Time Around with Adam Sandler




            Superstar funnyman Adam Sandler plays Jim, a loving but overwhelmed widower doing his misguided best to raise three daughters, in Warner Bros. Pictures’ new comedy “Blended.”  Drew Barrymore also stars as Lauren, an over-protective, recently divorced mother of tween boys who’s thrown into an unexpected African adventure with Jim.

Setting the scene of Jim and Lauren’s first meeting, Sandler says, “She’s recently divorced, and my character, Jim, is widowed.  They were both married a long time and they’re really not ready to date again, but their friends keep telling them they have to move on.  So, somehow they get set up on this blind date and it doesn’t go well.  They’re nervous.  He says all the wrong things and drinks her beer, and then she ends up choking on her soup and that’s pretty much the high point of the evening.”


“Drew and I really do like each other and have tremendous respect for each other,” says Sandler, before citing what he believes may be the real secret of their success as a movie couple: “We also have zero attraction to one another.  Drew has seen me shirtless and has just walked away, laughing.”
“Hey, I’ve seen you shirtless and I’m still here, so what does that tell you?,” she counters.
“I think Adam and I have always been in sync and really bring out the best in each other,” Barrymore continues.  “I love working with him.  We’re constantly thinking about how to make our characters more personal and genuine and there’s a lot of care that goes into it, but at the same time we can let go and be silly and free together.”
Sandler, who also served as a producer on “Blended,” sent Barrymore the script.  “I said, ‘I think I have a good one.  I love it, and would you take a look at this, Drewsky?’” he recalls.  “She loved it, too.  And the next thing I knew, we were heading for Africa.”


            Sandler has enjoyed phenomenal success as an actor, writer, producer and musician. Sandler's films have grossed over $3 billion worldwide. Most recently, he starred in the comedy “Grown Ups 2,” and lent his voice to the lead role of Dracula in “Hotel Transylvania,” which his production company, Happy Madison, also produced.  He is currently in production on “Hotel Transylvania 2”; and just completed filming on “The Cobbler,” for Thomas McCarthy, and “Men, Women & Children,” for Jason Reitman.
            Sandler recently starred in “Jack and Jill,” with Katie Holmes, and “Just Go With It,” with Jennifer Aniston.  His previous films include “Grown Ups,” “Bedtime Stories,” “You Don't Mess with the Zohan,” and “I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry.”
            Sandler’s films also include “Reign Over Me,” for director Mike Binder, “Click,” with Kate Beckinsale, and “The Longest Yard,” with Chris Rock and Burt Reynolds.  He also starred in James L. Brooks’ “Spanglish”; “Anger Management,” with Jack Nicholson; and Paul Thomas Anderson's “Punch-Drunk Love,” for which he received a Golden Globe nomination.

“MALEFICENT” ENCHANTED THE BOX OFFICE WITH P179.9-M GROSS IN 5 DAYS!



Disney's “Maleficent” bewitched the Philippine box office well beyond expectations for a No.1 finish, taking in an enchanted P179.9-million in five days nationwide for the May 28 to June 1 weekend. This according to the local office of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International, the film's distributor.

That opening gross is the year's second-biggest, bested only by last April's “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” (P251-M) but higher than “X-Men: Days of Future Past” (P175-M) which bowed last week.

Powered by positive word-of-mouth from audiences, “Maleficent” opened tremendously huge that it already surpassed the lifetime revenues of Disney's biggest non-Marvel titles, namely “Prince of Persia” (P156-M), “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End” (P155-M) and “Alice in Wonderland” (P140-M).

The “Sleeping Beauty” companion film also shattered the record for Biggest Opening Weekend for an Angelina Jolie Live-Action Movie Ever, likewise smashing the lifetime grosses of “Salt” (P131-M), “Wanted” (P95-M) and “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” (P83-M).

Overseas, “Maleficent” also reigned over the weekend box office, debuting to a magical $70 million domestically (U.S.) and $100.6 million internationally.

The film's stateside figure ranks as a record domestic debut for Jolie, edging out “Kung Fu Panda” ($60.2-M), “Wanted” ($50.9-M) and “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” ($50.3-M).
Back in the Philippines, the fairytale-based adventure reeled off in 264 screens (including 8 IMAX) in 122 locations. SM North EDSA garnered the largest share of box-office receipts with P8.41-M, followed closely by SM Mall of Asia (P8.29-M), SM Megamall (P8.06-M), SM Cebu (P7.09-M) and Trinoma (P6.19-M.)

Impressive grosses were also posted by Glorietta 4 (P4.74-M), Ayala Cebu (P4.07-M), Bonifacio High Street (P4.03-M), SM Aura (P3.47-M) and Alabang Town Center (P3.39-M).
Rounding up the Top 20 cinemas are Newport City (P3.33-M), Eastwood (P3.05-M), SM Southmall (P2.97-M), Power Plant (P2.96-M), Greenbelt 3 (P2.85-M), Greenhills Promenade (P2.82-M), SM Fairview (P2.57-M), Gateway (P2.56-M), SM Clark (P2.49-M) and Market! Market! (P2.48-M).

“Maleficent”explores the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the classic “Sleeping Beauty” and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king’s newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.

Lee celebrates its 125th Anniversary special in Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2014 culminating in day two,by letting us look at their fashion creation within the 125th years span from 1889 up to the present, the jeans that we love to wear through the years were presented in different styles from the first zip-fly pair to tattered, deconstructed, high waisted, skinny, stretch, colored, bleached on, in its 27 vintage pieces and 60 runway looks. Lee has this distinguished touch of its own brought by its craftmanship through the years of expertise in jeans and fashion.






The “Lee Archive Tour”
To celebrate 125 years of purposeful denim design, the “Lee Archive Tour”, was created—a curated collection of iconic Lee pieces—to tour around the Asia-Pacific region starting with Beijing, Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, India and Australia. On its last leg in the Philippines, the two-story modern metal-and-wood pop-up space completes its journey at the SM Mall of Asia Atrium (after Glorietta and Robinson's Place) for Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2014.  The Archive—which houses 27 vintage originals—serves not so much as a museum, rather more a chronicle of fashion firsts, denim lovers will truly appreciate the story behind each piece.

The Collections
Together with the “Lee Archive Tour” will be Lee Jean's Holiday 2014 runway show. A 60-piece strong show, it will be defined by the 101+ collection and the Lee Stretch Deluxe. The 101+ takes off from the 101 originals and is a limited capsule designed especially for the anniversary. Look out for new design elements: double layered pockets, embroidered labels, unique S-branding on the rear, and an imported Japanese fabric in a thicker 16oz finish. It also comes in a limited run, 1,250 pieces for the jackets and only 1,250 pairs
for the jeans.


The Stretch deluxe on the other hand takes its cues from good form—it's never out of shape—with intelligent denim that's integrated with exceptional stretch and recovery, making it the perfect transitional item for the woman with a day-to-night mind-set. Drawn with a refined, streamlined, lean and clean finish, this precision in fit makes it the perfect pair for the versatile woman with taste.

To round off the classics and the innovations is a segment dedicated to the new. The Lee Style Army brings in a readjustment to the classic jean. Denim is deconstructed, reconstructed and reformed to create unexpected and exciting new denim silhouettes.

Art in Fashion
Since 1889, Lee Jeans has always been a purveyor of craftsmanship in design, and it is with this house code that Lee shares the experience first-hand to you. A DIY (do-it-yourself) station was held on site with special denim artisans and jean craftsmen to help you create your own personalized 125th anniversary pair. Included in the services are exclusive anniversary trims: one-of-a-kind rivets, buttons, embellishments; on-the-spot sewing and alterations; monogramming; and surface finishing which includes scraping, whiskers (thin faded lines created by natural crease) and distressing.
