Treat the man of the house to Nanbantei this father's day

NANBANTEI OF TOKYO LAUNCHES MOUTH WATERING YAKITORIS AND COCKTAILS

I've never had Yakitori elsewhere, but all the various meats I tried like gyu-tan, buta negi and others tastes heavenly good at Nanbantei of Tokyo. The yakitoris served were on sea salt based as I have tasted each and every dish on a stick. I assure you they never use monosodium glutamate. All of the skewered goodness were grilled to perfection and really tasty and bursts with flavor. I had an excellent experience with Nanbantei with all the dishes they have offered.  The japanese mojito cocktail which are garnished with “ooba” leaves,  Ichiko Sochu, fresh calamansi juice, green tea, syrup and soda water, compliments the taste of my Gyu-Tan. You should try their coffee jelly after a hearty meal, green tea or avocado ice cream, the best they offer for desserts. This father's day give your old man the best treat of yakitoris by bringing him to Nanbantei of Tokyo he will surely appreciate the gesture.

NANBANTEI OF TOKYO, the popular yakitori-ya, recently launched novel and uniquely-flavored yakitori dishes that go well with fresh,  new cocktails.

So, if you are tired of the same old vodka, beer or whiskey nights, it’s time to sip Nanbantei’s premium cocktails and savor them side by side with the luscious flavors of skewered fare you’d love to sink your teeth into.

SUCCULENT SALAD AND NEW BITES OFF A STICK

In Japan, yakitori originally means “grilled chicken.”  But at Nanbantei of Tokyo, there are so much more to feast on than  just your favorite fowl.  Bites of flavorful yakitori dishes include beef, pork and chicken, seafood and vegetables—all combined with a variety of fresh ingredients, then served hot off the grill. Moreover, Nanbantei now offers fresh salads to tease (and please) your palate.

Start your meal with the light and refreshing Shiitake Mushroom Salad.  Mushroom lovers will revel in this stand-out dish made of fresh lettuce, robust-flavored shitake mushrooms, fresh tomatoes, carrots and radish topped with onion leeks.  This simple, no-fuss salad is served with sesame dressing on the side to better enjoy its hearty flavor.

Once you’re ready for some stick sensations, savor  three new unique yakitori specials. Do you sometimes find yourself craving for meat and seafood? At Nanbantei of Tokyo, you can have both in one sitting.

Tempura

The new Shrimp with Bacon yakitori includes two sticks of three plump and sweet shrimps wrapped in slivers of mouth-watering bacon strips. It’s a match made in  food heaven!

For the more adventurous foodies, the Gyu-Tan is spot on. The Japanese word for cow which is ‘gyu’ is combined with ‘tan’ to mean tongue becomes gyutan, or ox’s tongue, a specialty skewer in Japan. Sliced just right to the bite, this dish is garlic-infused and is perfectly grilled.

Gyu-Tan

Buta Negi, on the other hand, are  skewers of onion leeks wrapped with succulent pork slices. These hot bites are definitely worth a try.

KAMPAI

Nanbantei of Tokyo takes Japanese drinks seriously and adds a colorful spin to its signature spirits.
If your winding down routine means a bottle of beer, a glass of wine or a shot of that customary whiskey, it’s time to try something fun, innovative and truly Japanese. Nanbantei of Tokyo presents new cocktails which have premium ingredients and impressive presentations.

One is the Hibiscus Mojito, a refreshing drink that combines mojito mint, Bacardi White, hibiscus syrup, mint leaves, fresh lime juice, lime wedge garnish and topped with soda water. If you want something more gentle and delicate, sip into the new flavor of Malibu Midori, a merry mix of Midori Melon Liqueur, Malibu Rum, Bacardi White, sweet and sour mix and pineapple juice.  If you like the fruity blend of citrus and the flavor of rum, this tropical drink is a great way to sweeten any day.

Nanbantei puts a twist on the Cuban classic favorite and uses Ichiko Sochu, fresh calamansi juice, simple syrup and soda water to create a delightful concoction called the Japanese Mojito. The use ooba leaves instead of mint makes it a delightful and delicious deviation from the typical mojito.
Herbs like basil, on the other hand, make for a spanking new spin to the Gin Basil. Nanbantei of Tokyo combine Tanqueray Gin, sweet and sour mix, fresh basil, simple syrup and Sprite to come up with this fizzy drink.

And finally, the elegant, subtle flavor of the Fresh Rita.  Margarita enthusiasts will love this perfect blend of Cuervo 1800, Agave syrup, fresh lime juice and sweet and sour mix, topped with a lemon wedge garnish.

Nanbantei of Tokyo’s unique new dishes and four new cocktails are a testimony to Japan’s ingenious spirit by taking classic creations and infusing them with distinctive Asian tweaks you can taste with  each bite …with each sip.

They also serve the best desserts in town, like coffee jelly with vanilla ice cream, avocado ice cream and green tea ice cream.

"Sanib Pwersa" with Abra and Raymund Marasigan for Colt 45

Never been a "beer" person but when I got to taste this new Colt 45, it has a special fruity after taste to it, you have to smell and savor the aroma then sip and swallow.  It never tasted bitter as some of the beer I tasted before. This one yields more on the roasted malt-y taste. I will give this one a try. The reformulated Colt 45 is meant to be shared with your best buddies.

Modern Filipinos have replaced the traditional high-five with the fist bump when they greet their close friends. Colt 45 embraces this new trend and Filipinizes it by calling it “Sanib Pwersa” as it re-introduces itself to the country in its latest “brewed for brotherhood” campaign.

Abra and Raymund Marasigan for Colt 45

To Colt 45, Sanib Pwersa means more to Filipinos than just a simple hand gesture among friends. It represents sincerity and loyalty among the people who deserve to be called their “bros” or “brads”, a privilege that is earned and proved over time, and not given automatically. It also represents the kind of relationship the brand wishes to foster with its drinkers.

“The new Colt 45 was brewed with brotherhood in mind from concept to conception,” says Greg Anonas, Asia Brewery Inc. (ABI) Marketing Manager for Alcoholic Beverages. “Embracing the idea of celebrating brotherhood allowed us to revolutionize the brand’s flavor to optimize sharing, place the fist-bump on our labels to symbolize brotherhood and work with great brand ambassadors to help make the spirit of Sanib Pwersa come to life!”

At the heart of the Colt 45 reintroduction is the product’s reformulation into the perfect beer for sharing. “We’ve improved the overall beer experience by using more aromatic hops, reducing bitterness, and bringing out its roasted malt flavor using our signature triple-hopping process. The result is a more flavorful beer that has more character and is closer to the ideal,” shares Asia Brewery Inc. (ABI) Brewmaster Dr. Alberto Rivera.

Inspired by Colt 45’s new look and ideology, Filipino hip hop sensation Abra and Filipino rock icon Raymund Marasigan, Colt 45’s latest brand ambassadors joined forces to write a song about “Sanib Pwersa” in record time, celebrating the depth of friendship and brotherhood the new Colt 45 encourages.

“It is always a delight to sing songs that celebrate the Filipino, and in the case of Sanib Pwersa, we celebrate the brotherhood that is uniquely ours,” shares Raymund. “Sanib Pwersa is about the story of Filipino brotherhood. How each and everyone contributes something to the table and how great things happen when you and your bros come together.”

“Well, I guess people have heard me do a lot of collaborations with other artists but it is the first time for me to do a collaboration that mixes rap and rock, and with none other than the Raymund Marasigan,” adds Abra.

The all-new Colt 45 is now available in 7-11, Padi’s Point, major supermarkets, and sari-sari stories across the country for a suggested retail price of Php 21 per bottle.

Join the Colt 45 Philippines brotherhood today through our Facebook community page, Colt 45 Philippines, and follow us on Twitter at @Colt45PH. Make sure to use the hashtag #sanibpwersa. Subscribe also to our Youtube channel Colt 45 Philippines.

Proud father Benjie Paras is the new endorser of Handyman

BENJIE PARAS, THE ‘TOWER OF POWER’ IS THE NEW FACE OF HANDYMAN
(Star Center talks about basketball, show business and being a dad)

“Handyman has well-organized and customer-friendly aisles, making shopping easier. Their efficient and knowledgeable staff are always ready to help out in any home project anytime,” Handyman endorser BenjieParas  said.

New Handyman endorser Benjie Paras had a successful career in basketball and an exciting stint in show business.  Now, he relishes the most fulfilling role of his life- that of being a doting father to his kids- Kobe, Andre, Sam and Riley and a wonderful husband to Lyxen. Yes, Benjie Paras, the court superstar and actor is the star center of his family.

Life on court
Benjie’s humble beginnings in basketball began at the age of 11.  Since then, there was no stopping him from dominating the hard court, first playing for the UP Fighting Maroons and leading the team to their first championship in 1986.  He then became the star center for PBA’s Shell Turbo Chargers and was one of the vital factors behind his team’s victories. He received several awards including PBA's 25 Greatest Players of All-Time and was given the moniker of “Tower of Power’.
“But one cannot play basketball forever,” he mused. Thus, when he retired after 14 years with the PBA, Benjie became an actor/comedian and a very popular one at that.

Life onscreen
The shift from basketball to show business was quite unexpected, Benjie admitted, since he didn’t even know if he could act, much less make people laugh.
“The passion to improve your performance is the same with both basketball and showbiz. Whenever you play on court or are onscreen, there is the challenge that you should test yourself every time,” he said.

The do-it-yourself dad and family man
While he is a legend on and off the basketball court, he is first and foremost a father. “I am strict with my kids but I always treat them with respect and kindness and I let them decide what they want to do or to be.” But one thing is clear —it has always been “sports and outdoor activities over computer games and gadgets.”  It is a non-negotiable rule in the Paras household. The efforts paid off. Andre, 18 and Kobe, 16 are becoming fast rising basketball stars in their own right. Andre was a highly-recruited high school prospect out of La Salle Greenhills before deciding to join the UP Fighting Maroons, his dad’s alma mater and the UAAP team that Handyman has been supporting for the last three years.  Kobe, on the other hand, is a La Salle Greenhills player and was part of the Philippine team on the FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship.

The proud father is also a do-it-yourself dad.  He loves to stay home and tinker on what can be fixed and improved. “I wish I could do a lot but I have such a busy schedule.  It always gives me joy to do simple things for the family like installing the shower or the light, fixing the heater and setting up a bidet,” he said.  “I have gadgets and tools that come in handy when I need to repair things around the house. And I got them from Handyman.”

Given the time and opportunity, Benjie would like to build things from scratch  such as making chairs, tables, cabinets, TV racks  and other household furniture - a dream project he has been setting his heart on. That is why Handyman’s home improvement and tools sections are his favorite places to get lost in. “The store’s extensive product lines are of superior quality and are reasonably priced. One can find great Father’s Day gifts for do-it-yourself dads like me,” he smiled, hinting.

Handyman has made shopping more convenient, evolving into a one-stop-shop where anyone can find their hardware, maintenance, home repair and improvement needs that can help customers improve their spaces with ease and convenience. “Handyman also has well-organized and customer-friendly aisles, making shopping easier. Their efficient and knowledgeable staff are always ready to help out in any home project anytime.  Furthermore, Handyman stores are conveniently located and accessible for both professional builders and for people like me, who are enthusiasts about recreational home improvement projects,” he said.
\
Benjie should know. He has been there and done that.

Celebrating Bela Padilla's birthday for a cause

Up-and-coming actress, Bela Padilla shared that she doesn’t usually celebrate her birthday but thought it would be a great way to bring people together for a cause. Making clear her affinity for animals, Bela chose to spend her birthday with the shelter dogs and animals at the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) in Quezon City, where she took part in a feeding activity together with her loyal “Belaver” fans.

“We picked PAWS as a venue for my birthday because I am strongly against animal cruelty. Being a pet owner myself, I have this deep compassion for animals,” Bela said. She wants to spread awareness about the plight of homeless and abused animals, and thought that bringing people to PAWS is her own little way of helping out.

Bela’s birthday celebration was spent with two of the things closest to her heart: animals and Japanese food as Tempura Japanese Grill happily sponsored the young star’s birthday treat.
“I’m surprised and so happy when I found out that Tempura sponsored the catering because I love eating there. I’m always at the Trinoma branch because it’s near our place and I just can’t get enough of Uncle Sam’s maki,” Bela shared. She expressed enthusiasm and excitement when asked if she sees herself representing and advocating for animal rights in the future. “I would be honored if PAWS would pick me to do a campaign because I really want to share my compassion for animals,” she said. As for Tempura, Bela said that she wouldn’t think twice because Japanese cuisine is her favorite. “I would love to. A lifetime supply of Tempura is like, the best thing I could have in my life,” she quipped.

The flawless look of Giorgio Armani Maestro Foundation

I have been meaning to buy Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion make up or liquid foundation last year when I was still in UAE.  The SA gave me 2 samples, and religiously use this for two weeks after my favorite moisturizer. Although this has spf 15 on.  It is flawlessly silky and sheer and matched my NC40 tone.  I would recommend that it would be better to dust some loose powder, after putting this on. The staying power is 6 hours, if you have oily skin. Better just bring your face powder or loose powder for retouch.

Benefits:
A formula that is easy to apply with unified distribution, and covers imperfections.  An ultra-fine oil-pigment suspension that perfects the complexion, instantly igniting skin’s natural luminosity. A water and powder-free base.

Technology:
An unforgettable and unique texture created by patented Fusion Technology. The Fusion makeup technology delivers the thinnest color film that blends perfectly and corrects skin imperfections without buildup.

Application Tips:
• Shake the bottle and put three drops in the palm of your hand.
• In rapid and fluid movements, spread the foundation out from the center of face to the edges. Make sure to concentrate the application in the center of the face where most imperfections are found.
• Blend from the center of forehead to the temples, from the nose, across the cheeks towards the ears, and then from the chin, up along the jaw line

Results:
• Blends into skin on application: 100%*
• Easy to wear, you forget that you are wearing make-up: 100%*
• Easy to apply, gives rapid and perfect make-up result every time: 98%*

Oscar-winner Russel Crowe to star in "Noah"

RUSSELL CROWE, MAN WITH A DIVINE MISSION IN “NOAH”

Regarded as one of the finest actors of our time, Oscar-winner Russell Crowe (“Gladiator,” “Man of Steel”) is often sought after to bring an earthy humanity to towering characters. When the filmmakers began talking about who could carry the story of Paramount Pictures' new searing epic “Noah,” his name quickly came to the forefront.

But playing Noah would be an extreme undertaking even by his standards – in part because Noah has never before been seen on screen as a real man trying to stand up under the most enormous burden in human history: to assure the survival of all living things.

Says director Darren Aronofsky, “Russell intrigued us because he is always authentic, and so very, very believable. No matter what, you never question if Russell believes in what he's saying. And of course the possibility of working with someone with that much talent, that much power, was very exciting for me -- just to see what we could create together.”

Screenwriter Ari Handel was gratified to have an actor who could step right into the outsized contours of the role. “We really needed someone in the great tradition of biblical epics who has that gravitas,” he says. “Russell is someone you believe could follow through on the most Herculean, impossible task without complaint. You never doubt his capability or his strength, but in his eyes, you see an underlying compassion.”

To help recruit him, Aronofsky made Crowe a promise: he would never be shot in the hoary cliché with a pair of giraffes behind his head. But once he began his research, Crowe found that trying to get inside Noah from a modern perspective was endlessly fascinating. “You start with all these preconceived notions about Noah, but when you start to break down what the world might have been like in his time, it’s very intriguing,” he says.

The biggest challenge for Crowe was coming to terms with how a man would grapple emotionally and morally with such an urgent but still hazy vision of disaster from the Creator. “Noah only starts to understand the task he faces as a sort of deduction because he’s not getting a lot of direct input,” Crowe explains. “What he understands is that he needs to look after all the animals, but he doesn't have any information at all about how he is to address the human question, so a lot is left for him to figure out. One of the cool things about him is that I don’t think he finds there’s any honor in this job. In fact, he sees it as the worst job he could possibly get from the Creator. But he will do everything in his power to finish it.”

Working with Aronofsky was a major lure for Crowe throughout. “I felt that we never finished a day without something really cool being captured,” says the actor. “He’s intense because he wants to get a lot done, but that's great because you know he's always looking for something. And here's the other thing: he never stops directing. Even in the longest, coldest, toughest night, he never stops talking about that thing that you're pushing towards, which I suppose explains exactly why he makes the type of movies that he does. He's always taking people into places and experiences that are not average or typical. And hopefully that’s what this movie does as well.”

Inspired by the epic story of courage, sacrifice and hope, Darren Aronofsky (“Black Swan”) brings to the screen his personal vision of “Noah.” Russell Crowe portrays the man chosen to undertake a momentous mission of rescue before an apocalyptic flood destroys the world. The film offers a mesmerizing visual adventure through everlasting themes of good and evil, destruction and mercy, hope, family and second chances.

The film sets out to imagine the largely unknown life of Noah and his family, inviting audiences into both the spectacle and the heart of their experience as the earth disappears under a colossal deluge that will undo everything … yet lead to a new day for all Creation.
Opening across the Philippines on June 11, “Noah” will be distributed in the Philippines by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.

JESSICA SOHO ANNOUNCED MOST TRUSTED NEWS PRESENTER IN THE PHILIPPINES

Jessica Soho often shares her story about being an “accidental journalist,” but her long list of achievements including the distinction of being announced  as the Philippines Most Trusted News Presenter for 2014 by Reader’s Digest Asia is certainly no coincidence.

The veteran broadcaster’s latest honor is featured in the June 2014 special issue of Reader’s Digest.  Voted for by consumers, Reader's Digest Most Trusted Brand Awards have been given to brands excelling in various fields for the past 16 years.

“It’s always a proud moment for me to go up on stage and receive my award “says Soho in an interview”. I’m grateful because Reader’s Digest is such an influential and respected magazine,” says Soho in an interview.

"Trust is a very big honor in itself but I know that it's also a major responsibility," she added.

She credits the Digest for getting her hooked on reading and shared how she would even borrow her aunt’s magazines since her family couldn’t afford their own subscription back then.

Soho, GMA Network’s vice president for News Programs, is widely regarded as the most awarded broadcast journalist in the country and her long list of awards includes two George Foster Peabody Awards for her investigative reports “Kidneys for Sale” and “Kamao.”  The Peabody Awards are considered the Oscars of broadcast journalism.

Initially planning to study law, Soho met journalist Luis Beltran at the UP College of Mass Communications, and he inspired her to finish Mass Communications.

She joined the GMA team in the mid-80s, fresh from college, just after finishing with her undergraduate thesis.

Soho is the first Filipino to win in the New York Film Festival for Coverage of a Breaking Story for her account of a hostage crisis in Cagayan Valley. She also received the Ka Doroy Valencia Award given by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas and is included in the list of 100 Filipino Women of Distinction.

With almost three decades of experience as a journalist, Soho has set the bar for quality reportage in Philippine broadcasting. Her trademark straight-to-the-point style of interviewing guests and reporters provides viewers with in-depth analysis and insights on local and international issues.

Apart from GMA News TV's flagship newscast, State of the Nation, Soho also hosts the award-winning weekend news magazine program Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho.
