Transforming Experiences

PCs have evolved significantly throughout the decades - from bulky, low-memory machines to ultra-portable multi-taskers common in today’s workspaces. Huawei developed the Mate Station S to liberate users from the unseen limitations of device form factors to a more flexible and versatile experience. It’s more than a PC tower - it’s a transformative computing solution.

Huawei brings in numerous design technologies from its mobile creations to enhance the desktop experience offered by the Mate Station S and the Huawei Display.

Aesthetics

Featuring a striking metallic Star Trail design inspired by long-exposure photographs of the night sky, the MateStation S already stands out from most conventional PC tower aesthetics. It’s a minimalist approach that still exudes the machine’s extraordinary potential.

Desktop FullView

The Huawei Display 23.8” perfectly captures the visual fidelity of Huawei’s stunning FullView technology and magnifies it by several levels. The result is an ultra-modern monitor solution that’s 90% screen, with TUV Rheinland Certification and all the lifelike quality of a window to whichever world the user desires to behold.

Innovating on efficiency

Huawei Share and Multi-Screen Collaboration is as seamless as ever on the Mate Station S; pairing multiple Huawei devices with it via NFC, Bluetooth and others provide a consistent experience that lets users jump from screen-to-screen effortlessly, or simply consolidate their data on the Mate Station S and get everything done there.

Even the simple act of logging in to the machine is streamlined, thanks to the Fingerprint Power Button - a world-first for desktop PCs. A dedicated air duct for the CPU houses the custom high-density bionic heat sink for effective heat dissipation, while vertical fan blades keep noise levels to a minimum even during intensive tasks.

Next-level performance

A 7nm AMD Ryzen 5 4600G processor with Radeon graphics is responsible for the Mate Station’s tremendous performance, which can handle everything from day-to-day word processing and spreadsheets to high-def media editing and even intense gaming sessions. DDR4 dual-channel memory and PCIe x 4 SSD ensures every action is ultra-fast and responsive, even when juggling multiple programs or tasks. For wireless connectivity, NFC and Bluetooth 5.0 come standard, aided by a rich interface for toggling such features.

Smarter lives with smarter PCs

Being a Huawei product, the Mate Station S slots neatly within the brand’s sprawling device ecosystem, while bringing individual device capabilities together in pursuit of an innovative AI-enhanced lifestyle. This strategy, dubbed “1+8+N” involves introducing simple smartphone users to the versatility of multiple smart devices serving their needs when they need them, with Huawei’s AI architecture bringing those seemingly-disparate elements together to form an intelligent experience.

Transform the way you work, create and play with the Huawei Mate Station S. With the sheer amount of power and options it offers, a world of possibilities is always within reach.

Huawei PH partners with PCCI for the Huawei ICT Academy

Huawei Philippines joined hands with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) to enable students and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) to develop their skills in innovation and technology through the Huawei ICT Academy and the Huawei Mobile App Development Program.

Speaking at the "Introductory Webinar on Huawei ICT Academy and Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) with Local Chambers and Educational Institutions" on Wednesday, PCCI President Ambassador  Benedicto V. Yujuico said, "Huawei and PCCI have worked very closely to develop a collaboration that would truly benefit the youth of our country through training and education in cloud technology, artificial intelligence, and other areas of a cutting-edge of innovation and technology."

Yujuico added that through PCCI's collaboration with Huawei, "we will bring to you the Huawei ICT Academy — the official program that delivers industry-recognized Huawei certification courses to students, which will serve as a key to bringing new ICT talent closer to industry."

Huawei also introduced its mobile app development program, which will enhance one's skills in cross-platform app development and also serve as a bridge connecting MSMEs with universities through joint projects.

Huawei Philippines Vice President Daniel Guo stressed that the goal of Huawei's training programs is to "enhance ICT engineers' skills and help them to match the work requirements to be easier for them to find suitable ICT jobs in the domestic market and the world market."

Launched in 2013, the Huawei ICT Academy is a school-enterprise cooperation program that involves global universities, colleges and educational institutions with the goal of building a talent ecosystem for the ICT industry. It provides industry standard training and certification courses to equip students with technical knowledge and skills required by local and global employers.

The Huawei Mobile App Development Program is a non-profit partnership program that trains university students on app development and digitalization. It also supports MSMEs in developing their own applications for their businesses.

McDonald’s celebrates its #MPowered women

World famous menu items, meals and heartfelt service are signatures of the McDonald’s Philippines experience. And while the public continues to enjoy the company’s industry-leading standards on food and customer-centricity, the women of McDonald’s are taking on more leadership roles and increased involvement behind the counters, that has made all this come to life.

These women are at the forefront of #MPowered, McDonald’s newest campaign this National Women’s Month. The initiative lauds McDonald’s women leaders and team members who have shown strength, confidence, and courage amid a trying year, steering the company throughout the pandemic. The campaign is also headlined by McDonald’s representation numbers, which show its lead from the current global benchmarks for a gender-equal workforce.

At McDonald’s, women account for 55% of the total employee population. Out of this number, 56% manage the company’s over 650 stores. In the boardroom, women from the executive committee take up 50% of the company’s top leadership posts, while 73% of senior management and 54% of its franchise owners, are women. At the forefront is a female managing director, and women thriving in roles that are traditionally handled by men like real estate, construction, legal, IT, and franchising.

“We are proud to exemplify the talents and strengths of Filipino women at McDonald’s especially during these challenging times. We survived 2020 due to the exemplary leadership that the women of McDonald’s have shown-- the roles they played in initiatives that have propelled our business and brought us closer to different communities,” says McDonald’s Philippines President and CEOKenneth Yang.

Making waves in the company, society

Among the women in the #MPowered campaign are leaders who have driven landmark projects for McDonald’s and in partnership with other stakeholders amid the pandemic. Managing director Margot Torres co-led Ingat Angat, the country’s biggest consumer confidence campaign for Task Force T3, a consortium of private companies that support and partner with the government for its test, trace and treat initiatives against COVID-19. She continues her work on another national project, this time focusing on alleviating hunger and malnutrition. She is the private sector lead for Pilipinas Kontra Gutom, a multi-sectoral initiative in partnership with the government’s Task Force Zero Hunger--all while continuously overseeing the company’s day to day operations.

Following the strict lockdowns last year, McDonald’s was able to continue its operations, drive-thru, McDelivery and dine-in at a limited capacity, through its M Safe Program, led by corporate communications manager Puch Agodon. Through efforts of internal communications to align and rally its people on M Safe, the program captures how the company elevated its commitment to quality, service, and cleanliness for a safe and worry-free dining experience for its employees and customers. Rounding the list of notable female leaders amid COVID-19 is Ronald McDonald House Charities executive director Marie Angeles, who was at the helm of McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen. Initially intending to feed 50,000 frontliners and individuals from vulnerable sectors, the project progressed to feeding over 400,000 through the concerted effort of RMHC and its corporate partners including Metrobank, Coca-Cola, HAVI and Angkas. The McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen remains committed to serve more meals for more Filipinos this 2021.

“It is not enough to look at just the projects that gain media exposure because the more compelling work of women at McDonald’s happens every day, in the kitchens of all our restaurants in the Philippines. McDonald’s Philippines takes pride in having women as leaders, and as a woman myself, each day I am inspired by the skill and tenacity of our restaurant managers and crew, whom I believe, through their unique strengths, are pivotal for the success that has brought McDonald’s to where it is today and in the future.” notes Torres.

According to its latest figures, McDonald’s has over 25,000 women, wherein 56% belong to restaurant and safety management positions in company owned stores, and each one in charge of leading her co-employees and customers through the M Safe Program. Meanwhile, among 114 independent franchisees, 54% are also women.

“As we celebrate our female employees this Women’s Month, I would like to enjoin leaders and see the importance of championing a culture and workplace that enables everyone, whatever gender it may be, to grow and have equal opportunity. McDonald’s Philippines will remain steadfast in our commitment to gender equality, diversity and workplace inclusion. We are proud to say that from the crew room to the board room, it’s the women who take charge,” Yang quips.

Cignal TV and TV 5 Collaboration aim to bring the best entertainment programs for the benefit of the viewers

Cignal TV and TV5 partnerships has been getting many benefits not just for the show producers and content creators but also to its viewers.

Changes are sweeping the broadcast industry as more collaborations and inter-company productions are remaking the entertainment landscape in the country.  One notable example is the partnership forged between Cignal TV, TV5 and some of the biggest production companies and talent management agencies in the Philippines.

Since last year, Cignal TV has joined forces with a remarkable group of entertainment bigwigs that included VIVA Entertainment, IdeaFirst Company, Cornerstone Entertainment, Brightlight Productions, Archangel Media, Regal Entertainment.  Just recently, Cignal signed a content-deal arrangement with ABS-CBN Corp to offer viewers the best talents and programs for their viewing pleasure.

Cignal and TV5 President & CEO Robert P. Galang expressed high hopes for more partnerships with various production companies. “These collaborations between Cignal and the different creative and production companies and their talents aim to bring the best entertainment programs for the benefit of our viewers. We are humbled and honored to be able to provide work opportunities for our brothers and sisters in the entertainment industry especially in this time of pandemic,” Galang said.

TV5’s primetime lineup is now bolstered by ABS-CBN’s hit series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, along with Ang Sa Iyo ay Akin, Walang Hanggang Paalam, and Pinoy Big Brother Connect which air from Monday to Friday, 8:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Brightlight Productions, another recent addition to TV5’s roster, offers viewers entertaining shows such as Rated Korina, Oh My Dad!, and Lunch Out Loud, which has garnered the Best Variety Show title in this year’s GEMS Awards.

Since last year, premiere multimedia company, VIVA Entertainment, has been actively working jointly with the network to produce some of the most immersive and exciting shows on TV; including Born to Be A Star, Puto, Republika Origins, Ninja Kids, 1000 Heartbeats: Pintig Pinoy, The Wall Philippines, and Encounter. Other shows that have made an impact on Pinoy viewers are Masked Singer Pilipinas, Ghost Adventures, Bella Bandida, Kagat ng Dilim, and Onstage. There are also the special drama series produced by IdeaFirst Company, Paano Ang Pasko? and its sequel, Paano Ang Pangako?, created by Palanca Hall of Famer Jun Robles Lana and directed by Enrico Quizon, Ricky Davao, and Perci Intalan.

Another creative group that has joined the Cignal TV/TV5 lineup is Cornerstone Entertainment, whose programs I Got You, Stay-In Love, and Sunday Noontime Live! shows were aired on TV5. Just recently, one of its talents, Gretchen Ho, joined the network to star in her own show Woman In Action, and to join news programs Frontline Pilipinas and The Big Story.  Meanwhile, Archangel Media continues to entertain the viewers with its game shows Bawal na Game Show, hosted by Paolo Ballesteros and Wally Bayola; and Fill in the Bank, with Jose Manalo and Pokwang. Regal Entertainment which had been in collaboration with TV5 for more than a decade is offering its critically acclaimed films through One Screen Channel aired on Cignal TV starting March, 2021.

Reader’s Digest launches a virtual celebration to publicly acknowledge its latest Philippines Trusted Brands and personality award winners

Due to the global pandemic, the traditional awards ceremony could not be held but Reader’s Digest pushed through with the virtual presentation.

It has launched a virtual celebration to publicly acknowledge its latest Philippines Trusted Brands and personality award winners.

Reader’s Digest was determined to recognise “success that deserves to be celebrated” says Asia Reader’s Digest Editor-in-Chief Louise Waterson. The inaugural virtual awards for The Philippines (plus Singapore and Malaysia) is live on the website(https://www.trustedbrands.asia/philippines).

Asia Reader’s Digest Advertising & Retail Director Sheron White says, for the first time in the award’s 23-year history the live celebration had to be cancelled, but all is certainly not lost.

“You can sit in the comfort of your own home and enjoy viewing the award winners – those voted the most trusted by the public,” she says.

The awards recognise which brands, products and services are best and above the rest in the eyes of the community and cover a host of categories. Check out the video on the website to discover, for example, the companies most worthy of your trust when it comes to things as varied as baby stores, shopping centres/malls, pharmacies, TV networks, and eye centres.

Reader’s Digest commissioned international leading research company, Catalyst Consultancy and Research, to conduct the survey to determine the most excellent, remarkable and outstanding companies. A total of 1,500 consumers throughout the country were asked to rank companies according to their trustworthiness and credibility, their quality and value, their understanding of consumer needs, their innovation and social responsibility.

Sheron says the awards provide a great indicator for the general public. Purchasing from a company voted the best by Filipinos gives consumers the confidence that they are making the right choice.

She says category winners included newcomers as well as many who had visited the podium on many occasions in the past, with recipients awarded gold and platinum medals.  Baguio Oil, for example, has won the cooking oil category 16 times, while Citi has again enjoyed winning the credit card issuing bank category – for the 12th time. Also enjoying 12 consecutive years’ success is PLDT Home Fibr that took home a platinum medal in the broadband/fibre internet category. While ACER Philippines won the award for the 11th time for the personal computer category. And it appears the most trusted company to buy meat from in the Philippines is Monterey – and consumers have known this for ten years now. A first-time winner in the investment fund category was BDO, but this company has enjoyed accolades in the bank, and credit card issuing bank categories for many years and continues to do so.

More than 50 categories featured in the trusted brands awards, some of which had multiple winners. New categories are added over the years, with milk tea being an inaugural addition this year. The virtual awards ceremony features a selection of the winners.

The awards also included personality categories that judged: most trusted TV host/presenter of news and current affairs was won by Jessica Soho. She told Once more thank you to Reader’s Digest for this award and the trust this couldn’t have come at a better time because things are really hard right now and we all could do with the extra push and inspiration. Thank you for going out of your way to give this out despite the restritions and congratulations to the other winners."

Most trusted entertainment and variety presenter Vice Ganda; most trusted radio presenter Mike Enriquez; and most trusted sports personality Sen. Manny Pacquiao. All this is also documented in the virtual awards with some of the winners making guest appearances.

Celebrate your favourite brands and personality winners in the Inaugural Virtual Trusted Brands Awards Video(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OttMbnyrvjQ) now!

With dedication and effort, they have turned the Masungi Georeserve into a massively thriving example of commitment to help sustain the Philippines’ natural resources. Breaking away from the norms of corporate work, the sisters took the road less traveled and aimed for environmental awareness and conservation. They are a shining example of how women can become champions for future generation.

Krie Lopez built a business with the heart at its core – love for people and planet. This has been her battle-cry from the very start. Making social enterprise a social responsibility, she has been an advocate of inclusivity for all women by providing them not just jobs but also education and holistic development. For years, she has been connecting women from different backgrounds, especially those considered “unskilled laborers,” to opportunities that can impact their lives for the better.

Championing their causes, PLDT Home encourages every empowered woman to rise up and make a positive impact to other people’s lives through the power of their strongest connections at home. Through this campaign, women can elevate and educate others through a voice that can be heard clear across all generations.

Learn how to be a woman builder, champion, and beacon just like Gretchen Ho, Billie and Ann Dumaliang, and Krie Lopez by watching the series of Virtual Master classes on PLDT Home’s social media pages: YoutubeFacebook, and Twitter
