"Buhat" is Gloc-9 second to the last installment of his upcoming ‘Pilak’ album

True love transcends race, color, religion, and even physical features. Once it hits you, the heart encompasses all the other sensory perceptions, seizes control and then goes on autopilot that oftentimes defies logic. You even tend to bend the rules that you’ve set for yourself.

The topic of love would always become an inspiration for every artist’s creation. Whether it’s a painting, a poem, a photograph, a film, or in the case of Rap Icon Gloc-9, a song.

"Buhat" is the second to the last installment of his upcoming ‘Pilak’ album. It focuses on love's resilience amidst all difficulties. The song is like an ode to the statement that, "Love conquers all." (LISTEN HERE)

Our Paboritong Makata wasted no time crafting yet another unique sound along with his shrewd flows and wordplays. Like his other tracks from the said forthcoming album, “Buhat” is arranged, mixed, and mastered by none other than Thyro Alfaro. Meanwhile, the wonderful single artwork was made by Cel Mar of CLMRarts.

“Buhat” follows the November release of the “Bahay Yugyugan,” Gloc-9’s recent collaboration with Flow G which became a trending video on YouTube for music and has a new Wish Bus Performance Video as well.

Stay tuned for more from Gloc-9 this 2023!

Gloc-9 is releasing his new single “Kumpisal” Featuring Skusta Clee

The one and only Makata Sa Pinas Gloc-9 is releasing yet another single this May! This new song is called "Kumpisal", the Filipino rap icon’s third release for his Pilak album in celebration of his 25th anniversary in the Philippine music industry. Joining him in this string-fueled and vibrant collaboration is Skusta Clee, who’s undoubtedly one of the most popular rap artists on the OPM scene today.

Written and composed by Gloc-9 with musical arrangement, mixed, and mastered by Thyro Alfaro, "Kumpisal" looks into the dynamics of the Catholic sacrament of confession from the perspective of a confessee.

The lyrics? It’s classic Gloc-9 in his prime that you’ve always loved — bathed in cryptic word play and ethereally anthemic that even this mundane topic can transform into a poetic masterpiece. Gloc-9 said that he already wrote different songs on various topics, but releasing a song about religion and spirituality? Not yet. Thus, this song was carefully crafted and was made possible this year.

Joining the veteran hip-hop superstar in this latest endeavor is Skusta Clee and this the second time that these two rap idols have collaborated. Their first pairing was in Skusta Clee's single "Karma" wherein the Gloc-9 wrote the rap part. Its official music video released last November 2021 now has over 27 million views on YouTube and even reached #1 Trending For Music.

An official music video for “Kumpisal” is released alongside the single. The zany visual directed by Kirby Balagtas of YouMeUs MNL was shot inside a church with guest appearances by Shanti Dope, DJ Klumcee and Hellmerry. The exclusive premiere of the music video transpired during the intimate “Kumpisal” press conference inside a classy movie theater. (WATCH OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO HERE)

Prior to this release, Gloc-9 was able to drop singles “Paliwanag” with Yeng Constantino and the title “Pilak” as part of his 25th anniversary album. Check out "Kumpisal" on your favorite music streaming platforms.

Gloc-9 marks his 25th year in the industry with his Latest Single “Pilak”

Universal Records is proud to honor Gloc-9’s astounding impact on the Filipino music scene throughout his illustrious career. This year, the iconic “Makata sa Pinas” marks his 25th year in the industry and as a grand celebration, he is slated to release a brand-new album which will be called “Pilak”.

“Alam kong bawal tumigil at hindi dapat huminto, ‘Yang ang payo ko sayo para di ka mabigo. Salamat sa lahat ng nag bukas sakin ng pinto. Ok nako sa pilak kahit na di maka ginto”

And this March, Gloc-9 proudly releases the title track of his anniversary album, which encompasses a mixture of powerful storytelling about his unrivaled hustle and learnings for two and a half decades and enchanting hip-hop melodies. With pure emotional honesty, the veteran rapper also thanked his solid supporters over the years who helped him achieve all the accolades and milestones that he reached. There’s no denying that “Pilak” is a song borne from the heart of a very thankful seasoned artist.

His fans will surely enjoy the song’s seamless barrage of metaphors and verses that only he can deliver. As usual, Gloc delivers another poetic masterpiece which was further heightened by the musical arrangement, mixing and mastering by Thyro Alfaro and cover artwork by CLMRarts. The official music video helmed by director Edrex Clyde Sanchez is also out now on YouTube. (WATCH HERE)

The song is a very appreciative circumspect of his artistic journey which started with a dream, and paved by sweat, blood, and tears – all of which led to his eventual day in front of the klieg lights, the accolades, and the many awards that followed. As they say, "success is in the journey" and it truly is.

This gave Gloc-9 a better appreciation of what he has now as he stands front and center with contentment and thankfulness in his heart. A very inspirational message to young artists who are now trekking their own paths to glory.

With “Pilak”, Gloc-9 proves that he still has a lot of gas left in the tank and he’ll surely deliver a bona fide hit if he wants to. You have to start streaming this brand-new single right now!

Dreams Do Come True: Gloc-9 and Aspiring Singer Collabs to Fulfill Life Goals

With the uncertainty of the times, it's good to plan ahead to ensure a decent future and it was with God's grace that our Favorite Makata crossed paths with the husband and wife tandem of Grace and Louie Cristobal, owners of Alkaviva Waters Philippines. Not only did Gloc-9 gain new friends and business partners, it also provided him a new inspiration for a new song and an opportunity to help someone fulfill a lifelong dream.

"Maulit Man" was penned based on the  incredible love story of the Cristobal’s who faced seemingly insurmountable odds as a family and surviving life's curve balls founded on the strength of their love.

With Gloc-9 celebrating his birthday this October, "Maulit Man" will likewise be his natal day single. But what makes this song extra special was the vocal participation of PECEngr. Marie Grace Quintero Cristobal.

Upon learning about her dream of becoming a recording artist, Gloc-9 had no qualms in inviting her to do a collab and make her aspiration come true.

The song is available on all streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music ( https://bfan.link/gloc9-gracecristobal-maulitman ).  You can also watch the video directed by Edrex Clyde Sanchez at Gloc-9’s YouTube channel http://bit.ly/glocdash9YT

Gloc-9’s First Indie Album Release

Ever since transitioning to become an independent artist, Gloc-9 has been releasing singles via his various digital platforms such as YouTube and Spotify.  However, the month of LOVE have ignited the fires of inspiration in our favorite MAKATA that he came out with a six track Valentine’s “album” to be released starting February 14-19 one track per day.

Titled POOT AT PAG-IBIG, the album is a Valentine’s anthology to love, romanticizing stories of a dying love (Title Track:  Alitaptap), love for your dream (Title Track: Di Marunong and Payong), a partner’s longing (Title Track: Sana), a selfish love (Title Track: Oka), and (Title Track: BPB) life’s harsh realities often devoid of love.  All songs were composed by Aristotle Pollisco, arranged by Rassel “Goodson” Tiquia, and mixed and mastered by John Edmel “Gcode” Tabuniar.

But what makes this project extra special is Gloc-9’s collaboration with his twins, Danielle Shaun and Sean Daniel.  Danielle Shaun, who is featured as elle shaun, showcases her singing voice in the song “Sana” (second collaboration between father and daughter after the song “Gusto Ko” featured in Gloc-9’s “Talumpati” album) and Daniel rendered the concept art of the album cover.  Subscribe to gloc-9’s youtube channel for updates Gloc -9

Take a peak at “Dungaw,” and welcome Gloc-9 into the indie fold

After 22 years, seven studio albums, three EPs, and two decades of iconic hits, rap icon Gloc-9 is shifting gears and going independent.

And the song “Dungaw” featuring Keiko Necesario is the best song to do it with.

Known to work with different voices and perspectives in his songs, this time around Gloc-9 speaks in the voice of an unnamed man, confused about the visits he was receiving, wondering about the moment the song captures. As the song unravels, so does the story of this man’s life, the choices he had made, the ones that led him to this point.

But the final punch is in the the song’s culmination, when a final visitor allows him to ask a battery of painful questions. Why does suffering continue for many? Why are certain sins not forgiven? Why do the wealthy get away with anything? Why is there privilege, and why is there poverty?

The answers are in the mere fact that these questions are being asked.

Here, Gloc-9 reveals yet again that his power lies in his storytelling. That it is his songwriting that is his constant, and that it can only get better with age as he continues to insist not just on creative growth, but also and more importantly on speaking about the lives that we refuse to see, taking on the voices we refuse to hear.

And just as the narrative in “Dungaw” unfolds, so does Gloc-9’s new chapter as an independent rapper and songwriter.

Take a peak at “Dungaw,” and welcome Gloc-9 into the indie fold.
