realme has consistently held the top position as the number one phone brand in the Philippines for two consecutive years, and it's no surprise why.
In this article, we will take a look at the realme C53, the newest entry-level smartphone. What leap forward technology does it bring to the budget segment this time?
WHATS IN THE BOX?
The realme C53 comes in the trademark yellow box. Inside you’ll find everything you need to use the phone as well as a surprise bonus!
That includes the phone itself, paperwork, and warranty card, sim card ejector tool and the 33W charging brick. This time realme has also been generous enough to include a smoked plastic case, something we don’t usually get at this price point.
Exploring the device, you have the volume rocker and power button, which doubles as a fingerprint sensor on the right. On the left is the SIM slot that accommodates two nano SIMs as well as a dedicated micro SD slot, which is expandable up to 2TB. This feature is especially useful for users who require dual SIM functionality or frequently utilize expanded memory.
Located at the bottom of the device is a USB-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microphone, and a single downward-firing speaker.
realme always has a specific name for its phones different finishes and this time realme calls this aesthetic the “Champion Design”—which is also one of the taglines of the realme c53 campaign. After all what better color to represent a champion than glittering gold. The sparkly pattern definitely switches up the look under various lighting conditions.
realme employed a unique Golden Silk Coating Process to create the design of the realme C53. This innovative technique involves applying multiple layers of coating, each with a thickness of only 400nm, resulting in a stunning visual effect.
As usual, the minimalistic “realme” branding runs up the side. There’s also a Mighty Black option for those who want a more subdued color choice. The rear panel is made of plasticky material but it has some heft to it that adds a touch.
Despite its plastic construction, the realme C53 feels remarkably sturdy and well-built when held in the hand. It is the slimmest phone in the C-series lineup, measuring just 7.49mm in thickness. Additionally, the C-angle side design enhances ergonomics, ensuring a comfortable grip.
Another highlight of thepoint of pride for realme here is that its frame is its claim to fame. That’s because it’s extremely thin at just 7.49mm. It beats out a lot of smartphones within the segment and makes it easier to hold, especially since all the edges have been rounded off for the sake of ergonomics.
You get an iPhone-ish camera module again with its arrangement and circular cameras. I do like that realme did not put some text like other phones.
The realme C53 features a 6.74-inch HD+ LCD screen with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and a 90 Hz refresh rate. The display appears decently bright and vivid and one of the better ones in this segment and the higher refresh rate of 90 Hz ensures smooth scrolling and navigation.
For its processor, the realme C53 is equipped with an Octa-core Unisoc T612 processor, with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. So far in our daily use, the realme C53 delivers good performance and we didn’t experience and noticeable slowdown. With 128GB storage, you’ll be able to store lots of photos and videos. One problem for entry level phones has been storage that prevents users from installing games that use up a lot of space so the built in 128GB solves that and you can add even more via micro SD.
Another highlight feature of the C53 is the mini capsule we first saw with the C55. It can show you your charging status, count your daily steps and show your data usage.
For its cameras, the realme C53 has a 50MP AI main shooter + 0.8MP Black and White depth sensor and LED flash. For selfies, an 8MP AI front-facing camera is provided, supporting 720p video recording at 30fps.
Here are some of our initial photo and video samples taken using the realme C53.

Lastly, the C53 comes with a 5000 mAh battery that is capable of 33W of SUPERVOOC fast charging—another highlight feature that should give it an edge over similar priced devices. We’re curious to see how fast we can top up the C53 but realme says you can get up to 50% in 31 minutes, and to 100% in just over an hour.
That’s it for our first impressions of the realme C53! I do like the design and feel of the phone, and the camera has proven to be quite good as well. The realme C53 officially retails at PHP 7,999 SRP and is available online on TikTok Shop and Lazada.
