Cebu Pacific partners with PUBG MOBILE to launch historic Ibong Adarna-themed flight


Just recently, Cebu Pacific Air, the country’s leading airline, operated a mobile game-themed flight to introduce Tencent Games’ PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) MOBILE’s newest IP, Phoenix Adarna. An airport and in-flight experience featuring Adarna-inspired costumes, trivia games, and merchandise giveaways made the flight the first-of-its-kind in Southeast Asian aviation history.

 

PUBG MOBILE players will embark on a series of heroic missions inspired by the Philippine mythological bird Adarna, the fabled creature that heals all ailments. Players must complete missions within a time limit to unlock rewards or purchase in-game currency to become invincible like Adarna, and dress themselves in eye-catching items such as Agent Phoenix Set backpacks, a frame, parachute and even acquire a buggy. The flight replicates the adventure a hero undergoes in search of this famed fowl.

ASICS Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series is ready to welcome close to 5,000 regular or leisure runners



Known for lining up race routes with live bands and cheer teams, ASICS Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series is ready to welcome close to 5,000 regular or leisure runners and weekend racers to the rousing night race this Sunday, June 19.  The centerpiece 42K event drew 1,316 entries while the 10K run will feature 1,273 participants. Runners can look forward to performances such as Reujen Lista + Trinidad Band, Elmo and Arkin Magalona, DJ Marc Marasigan, Gracenote and Itchyworms for a block-party atmosphere, bringing fun to the run, unique to each Rock ‘n’ Roll Running series that is held in various countries around the world.

The races will fire off in front of the Rizal Park and will pass through streets, buildings, churches and parks, including the National Museum, the Manila City Hall, the Walled City of Intramuros and the Kartilya ng Katipunan, among others. It will also feature the famous Manila Bay sunset.

Nestlé Philippines is committed to help shape a waste-free future with plastic waste as a top priority


Solid waste management (SWM) is one of the most pressing environmental challenges in the world today. In the Philippines, 18 million tons of waste are generated every year; the country is the third biggest source of solid waste in Southeast Asia and the third largest contributor to ocean plastic pollution worldwide.

 

Given this reality, Nestlé Philippines is committed to help shape a waste-free future with plastic waste as a top priority. Pursuing a leadership role, it is the first multinational fast-moving consumer goods company in the country to achieve plastic neutrality, recovering volumes of plastic equivalent to what it puts out in the market in its packaging. Nestlé PH has collected 48 million kilos of plastic waste from August 2020 to May 2022. It has also transitioned to the use of paper straws for its locally manufactured ready-to-drink products, becoming the first food and beverage manufacturer in the country to do so.



 

Alongside developing more sustainable packaging and delivery innovations, and increasing collection and recycling initiatives, Nestlé PH is focusing on driving new behaviors and understanding through SWM education. It has produced the country’s first SWM education modules to be rolled out in 20,000 public schools nationwide, with separate modules for parents, teens and communities.


Most recently, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the National Solid Waste Management Commission (NSWMC), and Nestlé PH conducted the first leg of the No Time To Waste: Climate Change and SWM Talks attended by employees of local government units (LGUs)  and government agencies, SWM officers, and community leaders. Attendance of close to 700 participants exceeded expectations, indicating increasing awareness and interest in environmental issues.

(Today’s webinar aims to provide LGUs additional knowledge and tools such as social media cards, presentations and posters that they can use to effectively educate their communities about proper solid waste management. These communities play a key role in finding a solution for our solid waste management problems.)

 

The DENR, NSWMC and Nestlé PH developed five modules for the webinar series: Module 1 - What does waste have to do with climate change and the environment; Module 2 - Climate change and R.A. 9003; Module 3 – Action planning for solid waste management; Module 4 – How to design a materials recovery facility and addressing limitations with alternative steps; and Module 5 - A citizen’s guide to proper waste management. The modules were discussed by Mr. Dave Albao, Executive Director of the Philippine Reef and Rainforest Conservation Foundation, and Mr. Robert Guevara, Vice President of the Philippine Alliance for Recycling and Material Sustainability (PARMS).

 

NSWMC Vice Chairman Crispian Lao emphasized the key role of education and collaboration to achieve an efficient and effective SWM system: “We need to educate the youth and integrate it in the curriculum. More importantly, we need to educate the local government units from the cities and municipalities down to the barangays. Collaboration is equally important and here, we would like to thank Nestlé for developing these modules that can be a good tool for LGUs not only to learn but to implement a SWM system for their communities.”

 

Nestlé PH Chairman and CEO Kais Marzouki said: “We recognize that partnering with other stakeholders is imperative. Our collaboration with the DENR and the NSWMC enables us to help empower consumers and communities to do their share in practicing effective solid waste management and in particular tackling plastic waste.  We welcome our cooperation with local government units in extending education on these pressing environmental concerns.”

PLDT and Smart continue its commitment to champion mental health and wellness through art with Canva PH


As part of a month-long celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month this May, PLDT and Smart empower the youth across the country to champion mental health and wellness through art with its campaign, "The Time Capsule Project”. With support from Canva Philippines, youth participants are encouraged to use art as a form of mental healthcare.

The Time Capsule Project invited the youth to share their stories, by using art in the forms of music, spoken word, photography, and visual arts. The top five participants recently won PHP 10,000 worth of connectivity packages from PLDT and Smart and a three-month premium subscription from Canva Philippines. They also had an opportunity to donate to their chosen mental health advocacy groups.

Through The Time Capsule Project,  an initiative made possible through partnership with Canva Philippines, Mind Games and Silakbo.

“As we hold the second run of The Time Capsule Project, we are very happy and privileged to get support from Canva Philippines as we champion our shared advocacy on mental health and wellness. We are looking forward to the many stories that our participants will share. It is our hope that together we can enable a generation of storytellers and purveyors of truth in the digital space,” said Katherine P. Diaz De Rivera, PLDT and Smart Stakeholder Management Digital Wellness Executive.

“Expressing yourself through design can be powerful and we believe in its power to raise awareness on mental health and wellness. With this initiative, we hope that the participants will find Canva a useful tool in expressing themselves through our mental health-related templates, vast range of elements, audio clips, and even stock photography. Collaborating with PLDT and Smart in this meaningful initiative enables us to be a force of good in the lives of our youth participants as they design better days ahead for themselves and for those around them,” said Canva Philippines Country Manager Yani Hornilla-Donato.

The Time Capsule Project kicked off with a special masterclass on content and visual creation led by Junior Designer Dre Agar, who is also part of Canva Philippines’ Video Squad. Through the app, anyone can design and use Canva’s features whenever they want, wherever they may be. Users can play with filters, pair fonts, add photos and fun elements, mix and match colors, and use Canva’s vast range of templates for all their design needs. The app is available for download on App Store and Play Store.
