AirAsia, in partnership with the Department of Tourism and the Tourism Congress of the Philippines has hosted a virtual meeting to present and discuss ways to boost tourism and economic growth in Luzon.
The ‘Virtual Luzon Regional Consultative Meeting’ took place last Friday, 30 April, attended by Jose Clemente III, President of the Tourism Congress of the Philippines, Jovita Ganongan, OIC, Regional Director, DOT Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Fanibeth Domingo, OIC Regional Director, DOT Regional Office II, Engr. Christopher Morales, Regional Director DOT Regional Office IV-B, Fe Buela, OIC Dot Region V, Joseph Francisco Ortega, Regional Director, DOT Region I, Carlona Uy, Regional Director, DOT Region III, Michael Palispis, Regional Director, DOT Region IV-A CALABARZON, over a hundred Tourism Congress Members, industry stakeholders, and members of the media.
AirAsia Philippines CEO Ricky Isla said, ”COVID-19 may have halted a lot of dreams for the time being but at AirAsia we never stopped dreaming big. While we safely work from home, we are taking this time to carefully plan and plot our next moves for the strong return of tourism and air travel.

Tourism Congress of the Philippines President Jose Clemente III said, "The Tourism Congress of the Philippines is a community where we can all help one another by supporting each other's industries and businesses. Through this consultative meeting, we hope to be able to provide updates with regards to initiatives and partners such as AirAsia, the Department of Tourism, and the various Regions, as we go forward in our bid to restore tourism in the Philippines."
During the meeting, AirAsia presented its health and safety initiatives including the transportation of vaccines, digital innovations, current advocacies and CSR projects, and potential partnership opportunities for the various stakeholders.
Last month, AirAsia hosted virtual programs in partnership with local tourism groups in Visayas where AirAsia presented initiatives on safe domestic tourism in response to the foreseen surge in travel demand as soon as community quarantine restrictions are lifted.

A good way to start the tourism industry is to come up with the strictest protocols possible. There is still a pandemic and in our country, there is less progress in terms of flattening the curve. What we hope for air asia and the government to make sure of the safety not only of the tourist but for the people around them as well.
