The Realme 10 Pro+ 5G Review

After more than three years, I was beyond excited that we were finally getting the chance to go back to one of our favorite places to visit—Hong Kong.

Our last HK trip was during Christmas 2019, and we barely made it out before the protesters took over the airport. It was unnerving but Hong Kong, with its unique blend of cultures and abundance of must-see attractions, will always have a special place in our core memories.

For this trip, we promised each other to try more rides in Disneyland (my partner is afraid to try anything else besides the Mystic Manor and It’s a Small World), take in the stunning views from Ngong Ping 360, and enjoy a relaxing evening aboard the Aqua Luna Cruise. And as someone who loves to shop, I knew we were going way past 10K steps as we explore the bustling night markets, high-end designer stores, and the toy stores my partner badly wanted to revisit.

@lola_lamon When in Victoria Harbour Hongkong you can take the Aqualuna II boatride for 45 minutes and be amazed by Hongkong's skyline and sunset.🌅🌤 Located at Aqualuna Tsim Sha Tsui Pier 1. We availed the boat ride by booking via @klooktravel. It was fast and easy without the long queue. #hellohongkong #travel #aqualuna #realmeph @Realme #displaynewvision #realme10seriesph ♬ Cut Me Off - Nanter

But most importantly, I was excited to make memories that would last a lifetime and capture every moment. For this trip, I brought along the Realme 10 Pro+ 5G.

This was the first time I was able to try Realme’s number series flagship, and with its stunning display and powerful camera system, I knew it would be the perfect travel companion for my Hong Kong adventure. And it did not disappoint.

Let’s start with the design. Smartphone design has become increasingly important for users, especially for female users who prioritize aesthetic appeal and would go well with their OOTDs.

The realme 10 Pro+ 5G is a stunner--period. It’s got to be one the most beautiful phone realme has made so far.  It’s available in three colors Nebula Blue, Dark Matter and Hyperspace Gold color. According to the brand the inspiration for the design is said to have come from the visual experience of traveling, through a hyperspace tunnel, which has resulted in this unique and impressive colorway. The bottom of the phone features a glittery gold finish, while the upper section has a prism-like effect that creates a dazzling visual effect. The combination of the two creates a design that is truly eye-catching and sets the Realme 10 Pro+ apart from other devices in the category.

This glossy finish however has its drawbacks. The phone is prone to fingerprints and smudges, which can be a concern for those who like to keep their phone looking clean and polished, so it would be a good idea to put on that free plastic case. Additionally, it is worth noting that the back cover of the phone is made of plastic rather than glass and it also has no water or splashproof certification.

Despite these concerns, the realme 10 Pro+ 5G Hyperspace design is an impressive feat of engineering and design. It is a testament to realme's commitment to creating devices that are not only functional but also visually stunning.

Another noteworthy design feature is its curved display—again another first for the number series. Curved displays were once reserved for flagship devices so its nice that realme has made this feature more accessible to users.

The 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display was a feast for the eyes, and it was fantastic to look at whether it was for checking our itinerary, browsing through my social media feeds and watching my favorite series on Netflix while on the go or before sleeping. The 120Hz refresh rate made everything buttery smooth, and the 2412 × 1080 resolution at 394ppi ensured that everything looked razor-sharp and vivid which is very helpful for those who have bad eyesight like me.

When you are traveling, time is important so its nice to have a phone that performs well and does not slowdown when you have to open multiple apps.

We used it to navigate our way around the streets of MongKok, check on emails and the status of our KLOOK bookings, update our blogs and of course take photos and videos—and I never had a problem with apps suddenly closing or lagging.

The Realme 10 Pro+ 5G is powered by a Mediatek MT6877V Dimensity 920 processor, paired with a Mali-G68 MC4 GPU. This combination delivers exceptional performance, making the device capable of handling even the most demanding tasks with ease. The smartphone comes in two variants, 8GB and 12GB of RAM, which provide plenty of memory for multitasking and running multiple apps simultaneously. There is even a bigger 256 GB storage option so you’ll never have to worry having to back up your photos during a trip.

Now for the most important reason for choosing the realme 10 Pro+ 5G—its cameras.

I’ve been quite impressed with realme’s cameras but I was blown away by the realme 10 Pro+ 5G cameras. I finally understood why my partner had always been raving about the Pro+ variant.

The realme 10 Pro+ 5G is equipped with a triple camera setup on the rear, which is headlined by a whopping 108MP camera. The main camera is the star of the show, and for good reason. With its 108MP sensor and f/1.8 aperture, it can capture incredible detail and color in a wide variety of lighting conditions. The Dual Pixel PDAF autofocus system ensures that your shots are always sharp and in focus, and the camera's software features, such as Night mode and HDR, help to improve low-light performance and dynamic range.

This camera is capable of capturing stunning, high-resolution photos with excellent detail and color accuracy. The ultrawide and macro lenses add versatility to the camera setup. The ultrawide lens has an 8MP sensor and an f/2.2 aperture, allowing you to capture wider shots of landscapes, cityscapes, or group photos. The macro lens, on the other hand, has a 2MP sensor and an f/2.4 aperture, and can focus on subjects as close as 4cm away, letting you capture incredible detail in tiny objects like flowers or insects.

When you are using a camera as good as this, you can’t help but snap away at almost everything you see. Capturing people on the street, the different kinds of food we were able to try out, our Disneyland rides, I think I even recorded our entire NgongPing 360 cablecar ride!

Whether you're taking pictures of your favorite landscapes or snapping selfies, this camera delivers exceptional image quality every time.

Speaking of selfies, the device's 16MP selfie camera is perfect for capturing your best angles. With an f/2.5 aperture and support for HDR, panorama, and face detection, you can take great selfies anywhere, anytime.

The Realme 10 Pro+ 5G also features a 5000mAh Li-on battery that offers excellent battery life, even with heavy usage. The smartphone supports fast charging and comes with a Type-C USB 2.0 port. Additionally, the device runs on the latest version of Realme UI 4.0, which is based on Android 12, providing a clean and smooth user experience that is very easy to navigate and personalize.

All in all, our Hong Kong adventure was everything I had hoped it would be and more. And thanks to my realme 10 Pro+ 5G, I was able to capture every moment and relive the memories long after I returned home.

So if you are looking for a smartphone to bring to your vacation or a trip abroad,  look no further than the Realme 10 Pro+ 5G - the ultimate smartphone for travelers who want to stay connected and capture memories in stunning detail.  With its powerful processor, high-resolution camera, and long-lasting battery life, this smartphone is the perfect companion for anyone who loves to live life to the fullest and in style.
